Chapter - 6
Manvi POV
Honey, you know what you need to do."Turning her attention to Virat."Mr. Vadhera, your looking well as always."she winks, then struts off in her high heels.
"Excuse me. I don't feel well." I say, quietly. Not looking up, I all but run from the room. I can't let them ruin anything else. I remember the day they found out what to use to hurt me. To bring me pain and to torment me. I was just unpacking my things and they both came in insulting me and my mother. My mother fell in love with a married man, Aryan Malhotra. She didn't know he was married until after she was pregnant with me. She left him and never contacted him again. Until she died three months ago from ovarian cancer, I didn't know who my father was or if he was still alive. I went through her things and found letters she never opened from Aryan. There were over a hundred letters still sealed, bound by a rubber band. When I found the note attached to them it said, 'Manvi, these letters are from your father. He knows about you. I never wanted him in my life again, but it's up to you if you want him in yours. -All my love, Mom.' I never opened those letters, they weren't mine. I found pictures of my mom and Mr Aryan together, looking happy and in love it was a shock.
I found his picture and mine inside the locket necklace she always wore. It's above all my most cherished item and Mrs Malhotra and Priya knew it. They stole those things from me and if I step out of line they burn a picture or rip up a letter. It's all meant to hurt me and it does, but if anything happens to that necklace I'd be devastated.
The doorman opens the door and I exit the building and take a deep breath. I can still feel nausea digging into my stomach. They won't let this one go, they're going to burn something tonight. I don't even know my address, so I sit on a bench in front of the building waiting for the party to end. Three hours later my butt is sore and I see Mr Aryan and His wife exit and walk over to them.
"I thought you went home, Manvi." Mr Aryan states, worriedly.
"No, just getting some air. I didn't know your address." I reply, feeling stupid. I have been there two months, but it's never came up before now. I only know my way and the neighborhood and I walk everywhere.
The car pulls up to the curb and Mr opens the door for Mrs Malhotra and I. I make sure to sit as far from her as possible and don't make eye contact. I feel the hurt in my chest, Priya is with Kajal I bet. I'm about to lose another piece of my mother and I can'tstop it. I feel like crying and can't wait to be alone and let it all out
Virat Vadhera POV
I watch her leave, coming to the conclusion that Kajal singhania, Priya's friend just threatened her and I don't like it. Whatever they have on her I need to get back. I'm in business with the Mr Malhotra and I'm thinking of getting in bed with the Singhania. I'm the majority share holder in global, its very successful and running efficiently. Singhania Corp. at the moment is looking for financial backing on new development projects or will soon go bankrupt. Who do you think they came to for backing? Me, of course. I pin Kajal down with my eyes, she has what I need and I have what her father needs. Not that I'll follow through with the business venture. I'll convince her I will destroy her father and his business if she doesn't give me whatever she has on Manvi. Then I will take her and her family down, simply out of spite. She ruined my dinner with Manvi
After dinner I approach Kajal. "I need to speak with you."
She smiles slightly, thinking I am interested in her. I walk to a secluded corner. "What do you have on Manvi Sharma?" I ask, getting straight to the point.
Her smile slips. "What do you mean?"
"Don't." I warn her. "I know you and the Malhotra's have something on her, what is it?"
She struggles with what to say, "I don't know what your talking about."
"If you don't give me a straight answer in the next minute, I'll personally destroy you and your family. Leaving you absolutely penniless."
"You can't do that." She replies, but I can tell she scared.
"I can. Your father needs my money to fund a project, without me he's going to declare bankruptcy at the end of the month."
Her mouth drops open. "Your lying."
"Go ask him. I'll wait." I state, waving her away. She walks away stunned. Five minutes later she comes back looking close to tears.
"Fine. Aunty and Priya asked me to keep a box of Manvi's mother's things as a way to control her."
"Control her?"
"Yeah, they don't like her talking to anyone or getting any attention. If she does they burn something in the box." She shrugs.
"I want the box."
"If I give you the box, you have to give my dad the money he needs." She counters.
"Agreed." I use my phone and call my driver. I tell him to take Kajal to her house and bring her back. "My car is waiting for you downstairs. Make it fast." I can't wait for the satisfaction of bringing down the Singhania family.
