Chapter 26

Virat was speaking to Pratap and Viren while Manvi was seated in between Pooja and Jeevika. Her cousins have already left as they were like her busy with studies too. Manvi looked at Pooja and Jeevika, they were totally immersed in whatever they were speaking, she was happy but she was starting to feel bored. Her gaze moved to her, now officially announced fianc and noticed him sliding away from Viren and her papa and walking out of the door, she wondered why he was sneaking out and her always present curiosity made her restless. But there was no way she could move without coming to either of their notice so she calmed and thought of a way to escape.

"Manvi, you were too late to introduce me to Pooja..."

"Haan haan... you two have found each other ab mujhe dato milke," Manvi pretended to be heartbroken making Pooja and Jeevika chuckle at her filmy act.

"Achcho Pooh, where is aunty and uncle?"

"They left early and ask me to call so that they will send the driver when I want to return home," Pooja was happy to have this time,

"Wah... I have to remember to thank aunty."

Pooja laughed and noticed Viren and Jeevika gazing at each other, and she didn't forget to signal Manvi,

"Oho... yahan toh nazaron se batein ho rahi hai..." Manvi nudged Jeevika and Jeevika blushed,

"Par di, you can go speak to him na..." Pooja proposed,

"Nahi baba... I can't what will all say?"

"They will say if only they see you two speaking," Manvi wanted to help them out too and this was a great chance for her to tease Viren.

"No... No tum log chup... arre Manvi..." Manvi walked towars Viren who was now looking here and there,

"Aha... What is going on haan? Engagement hui neri aur romance kisi aur khi... toh teasing bhi unki..." Swamini and Vanshika who were in the ear shot laughed making Viren's face flush,

"Manvi..."

"Kya Manvi... This is not done haan... why are giving those looks to our poor Jeevika di, look how uncomfortable she is looking," Manvi was loud, Viren closed hie eyes for a moment before dragging her to a corner, Manvi waved at Pooja and Jeevika, attracting many gazes,

"Manvi... sorry meri ma... I will never tease you again, ab toh chodo..."

"Uh hm.." Manvi shook her head,

"Please... tum meri pyari behena ho na..."

"Haan haan okay but only for now..." Manvi save a fake sympathetic look and Viren frowned, "and come with me... I have to show you something very important" Manvi signalled Pooja and she nodded as Jeevika looked on confusedly,

Pooja and Manvi hi fived each other as they locked the door from outside,

"Manvi you go I'll bring them two in few minutes, warna they will get suspicious," Pooja proposed standing in front Prakash's office room where Viren and Jeevika were... doing God knows what,

"Wah Pooja," Manvi patted her back,

"I know... I know... I have become smart now go..." Pooja pushed her away and Manvi walked towards the hall but changed her mind and walked out of the door searching for Virat,

The night sky shimmered with stars and the house resembled the sky, the garden was lit with flashy lights and the house looked alive with many relatives walking around, Manvi sighed deeply and looked over to the right side and her heart stopped beating for a moment when she saw Rohan standing opposite to Virat with an angry expression, she raised her skirt a bit upwards and tried to reach them as fast as possible with her high heel.

"Rohan," she yelled when she saw him moving forward to attack Virat who was standing unmoved not even trying to shield himself or fighting back,

Manvi paused as Rohan directed his gaze towards her, he was looking furious, his eyes red and moist, face tight with fury and both his fists tight,

"What are you doing Rohan?" she was shocked and worried both,

"What is this man doing here Manvi?" he yelled directing Virat, "what the hell is this..."

"Stop it Rohan... he is my fianc, how could you behave like th..."

"Aren't you ashamed Mr.Vadhera?" Rohan cut Manvi short as he moved forward and pointed his hand at Virat's face, Manvi's eyes filled when she saw how broken Virat was looking, "You killed my sister and now what you want to kill my friend too?" Rohan's anger was increasing with every word,

Manvi who was going to stop Rohan froze,

"What are you saying Rohan... Virat ji why aren't you saying anything?" Manvi wasstanding in between facing both of them, "Kuch kaho na..." Manvi pleaded,

"He won't Manvi and do you know why because he is a murderer, he killed my Roshni didi..." Rohan was now crying but his face showed nothing but blazing anger, his voice shivering.

"Rohan... chup karo... Virat ji yeh... what is happening?" she held his arm but Virat stayed unmoved, his head still bent,

"Why should I stay quiet Manvi? I want to kill him... I want to kill this man who killed my sister,"

"Stop saying that..." Mnavi screamed her patience wearing,

"I will because she died waiting for him, she died yearning for him... aaya bhi toh he didn't give what my sister wanted... he didn't even fulfill my sister's death wish..."

Pooja who was searching for Manvi witnessed the whole thing and came running to Manvi who was now in tears, but stopped when she noticed Rohan and then Virat in either side of Manvi,

"Manvi he is a murderer, and I won't let you get married to him," Rohan grabbed her hand,

"Rohan... what are you saying?" Pooja was shocked beyond limits,

"I will not let her get married to a person who is heartless, who didn't understand my sister's love for him and left her when she needed someone the most..."

Pooja tried to hold him but Rohan pushed her away, Manvi was still standing by Virat but was looking at Rohan who was now totally broken, her heart broke seeing both of them like this but she didn't understand by whom she should be standing now, her fianc or her friend?

Rohan fell on his knee and Manvi left her hold on Virat's hand but Pooja shook her head, then signaled at Virat whose eyes were now moist too. Manvi shook her head... her tears unstoppable, Virat walked away and Pooja mouthed Go' and Manvi ran behind Virat who walked towards his house.

Manvi might not know the whole story but she understood Roshni who Virat loved and is dead now was Rohan's sister, she didn't know how, why and when but she has seen Virat suffer, she has witnessed him broken and guilty, she wanted to know more... she wanted to know how Roshni died and why Rohan was blaming Virat for leaving Roshni, as far as she knew Virat loved Roshni then why would he leave her?

Manvi walked all over the house, but Virat was nowhere to be seen... he was not in his room, not in the garden, she walked up to the roof top and saw him sitting on the bench, she didn't go close but studied his exterior, he was holding up everything, not letting go... rigid and stubborn, Manvi didn't know what or why but she walked straight and hugged him closer to her, tightly and closely.

It was the next day, Manvi was lying on her bed staring at the ceiling, Virat didn't speak a word to her while they stayed in the terrace, her hug didn't work too. He had been too stubborn and Manvi wanted him to speak up. Pooja had managed to calm Rohan down but she had said that he refused to say anything further and she didn't want to pressure him because it was his personal matter which was very close to his heart. Manvi didn't want to know the story from Rohan, she wanted to know it from Virat... Viren bhaiya had heard everything from Pooja and had come to settle Virat down then asked Manvi to leave as everyone at home were waiting for her, they had calmed others by saying that Virat fell a sick and Viren had taken him home and they believed it too, remembering how dull he looked all day. The engagement day was saved but she knew if this situation will be gone, he would never open up, so she decided to be brave and visit the Vadhera house.

Vanshika was walking from one end to the other as she thought about Virat's odd behavior, he looked the same like few years back when he came back from Canada, she had thought that things would be okay after getting them engaged but she was worried to witness him like this again.

"Aunty..." Manvi's voice broke her chain of thoughts and Vanshika thanked God for sending Manvi right on time,

"Come in beta... I was going to call you up..."

"Why what happened? Is Virat ji okay?" Manvi worried visibly and Vanchika knew that she was right there had been something going on,

"I wanted to ask you beta... he had been so broken form yesterday... he is not even speaking a word... what happened yesterday?"

"Aunty, trust me... I don't understand... I want to know too... that is why I came here to talk to him,"

"He is in the room... I really hope he speaks to you though, Viren didn't succeed too,"

"I will try aunty... he has to speak to me..."

Vanshika gave a slight smile and blessed her by caressing her head before Manvi walked up to his room.

Manvi entered the room after knocking for about three times, Virat said nothing and she walked in without waiting for him to respond. The room was looking the usual but Virat was rocking the chair with his eyes closed.

"Virat ji..." she called out he didn't stop or even pause to acknowledge her presence she knew he would take the easy way that is ignoring.

Manvi walked forward and then stood in front of him, he stopped rocking the chair when her dupatta touched his arm, she looked down and noticed her right feet right under the chair and if he moved forward that would hurt her, and that was a great encouragement for her to continue.

"Virat ji... you will talk to me..." Virat pushed the chair behind and stood up. "you promised you would try to let me in..." she walked closer to him, "You promised you will treat me like your friend," he closed his eyes tight, "Virat ji... stop doing this to me..."

"Not now Manvi please..."he looked at her and she shook her head,

"Only now Virat ji, if it is now then it will be only now..." Virat looked away as he gulped hard,

"You will hate me..."

"I have loved you through out these years, and I know my love isn't that weak to let go now after coming so long,"

"You won't understand,"

"I will try..." she moved closer to him, making it tough for him to turn away,

Virat moved forward too, pressing his face on her neck and Manvi knew he had given up. Manvi circled her arms around him... trying to make him calm so that it would be easy fro him to speak up. She knew this wasn't his nature, he was a talkative person and only situations all throughout his life had made him become what he is today and it wouldn't take much for him to talk to her now.

Virat wanted to talk, say everything which was burdening him... but there was a fear in him... he didn't want her to hate him or leave him. Roshni's abandonment had already broken him so much and he wouldn't be able to hold up if Manvi left him too.

"You know how my dad..." Virat paused he didn't want to say that word and felt Manvi nod.

"He was coming to see my match and his accident... I was just left broken after that," he moved away but Manvi held his hand and took him near the window sill.

"And"

"I didn't want to leave..." he was speaking so softly that Manvi felt it was not that strong man he pretends to be but a broken and lonely man who was desperate for companionship.
