I tell him to stay put and spend time with his wife but he says he needs to keep working while awake to not let his mind wander to the silence that weighs within the house and the hearts that are empty of the childish laughter that filled our eighteen years.

She knows that it will be nearly three more weeks before any of you girls can come visit us but here she is, always readying and perfecting the place as though you are about to come the very next hour
