While Arnav was combing his hair,Khushi was drooling at him-elbows resting on her lap,hands cupping her cheeks & eyes taking in the Chikankari kurta clad form of her husband.

Arnav(rolling up the sleeves): Khushi,u're gazing as though u're watching Salman Khan's movie!
Khushi: This scene is much more attractive than Salmanji's film! (grins)I cant tell u how happy I am to see u in this kurta!
Arnav(turns towards her): U need not tell me anything! Ur expressions r pretty revealing,u know!
Khushi got up from the bed & walked towards Arnav.
Arnav gave her a once over.
The saree was looking much better on her, in person,than how he had imagined it would look on her while selecting it.

Arnav was about to wrap his arms around her waist & pull her closer when she surprised him by suddenly pinching 1 of his biceps.
Arnav: What the..!?
Khushi(naughty smile): Same pinch! Today u're wearing clothes having Chikankaari embroidery & so am I!
Arnav(agress): True!
Khushi: The colors of r clothes dont match,agreed. But the embroidery is the same,is it not?
Arnav: Yeah,right! Then I should also say..
He brought his left hand near her right cheek,giving her the impression that he would pinch her cheek.
When she was distracted by his left hand,he took his right hand to her waist & pinched it.
Khushi hissed in pain.
Arnav(smirks): Same pinch!
Khushi(smacks his chest): Y did u cheat?
Arnav(shrugs): My wish!
Khushi(rubs her waist): I've been observing u since the last 2-3 days. U seem to hav a new obsession..
She points to her waist with her eyes.
Khushi: U must b enjoying it but I'm not!
Arnav: When u'd pinched,I didnt enjoy it either.
Khushi(touches his arm): Ur arm is strong whereas my waist is delicate. (pouts)It hurt me more than it hurt u.

He kneels down in front of her.

Arnav moves her pallu aside & kisses that point of her waist which had turned red after he'd pinched it.

Arnav(kisses again): Is it okay now?

She hugs him as soon as he stands up.
Arnav(startled): what happened Khushi?

Khushi: Apply just a little bit of it. And b careful coz its wet. So u'll hav to wait till it dries up.

He applies a bit of the liquid sindoor on her parting & admires his work with a smile.
Arnav: Its looking good!
Khushi(turns towards the mirror): Lemme hav a look..
She frowns upon seeing it.
Arnav: What happened?
Khushi: Yes,its looking good but the color is way darker than that of the sindoor powder.
Arnav(nods): That's true. But dont worry! u'll get used to it in a few days.
At that moment there's a knock on the door.
Khushi(excited): Looks like r breakfast arrived!
Arnav: I'll answer the door.
He goes towards the living room suite.

He wheels the trolly towards the presidential terrace,her prefered breakfast spot.
Khushi(smiles): Thanks!
She sat down under the umbrella while he sat on the garden chair,facing her.
Khushi(pouring juice into his glass): Now plz tell me the names of the dishes. And also what they're made up of.
Arnav: Wait a sec..
He shifted the chicken sausages & bacon & eggs towards his side of the table before pointing towards the vegetarian stuff.
Arnav: This is toasted French loaf and this is scrambled tofu.
Khushi: The one which is like paneer?
Arnav(nods): It is Paneer. The only difference being that its made up of soya milk.(points out) Okay,then this is spinach & cheese quiche. And then there's..
Khushi(interrupts): Whats this?
Arnav: Quiche(pronounced as keesh)
Khushi(finds it wierd): Wierd name! Anyways,I hope its vegetarian?
Arnav: Ya Khushi. All the items on ur side of the table r vegetarian. (points out)Now,this is a chocolate muffin and this..(smiles)is dragon fruit smoothie.
Khushi: U dont know anything! This dragonfruit is so dark in color. Even when I'm shy, my cheeks r not.. this shade of crimson..
Arnav(looks deeply in her eyes): R u challenging me?
Khushi: n.. no. umm.. I'm only telling u what I.. felt.
Arnav nods & breaks the eye contact,much to Khushi's relief.
Arnav(passing her the cutlery): Well,u can challenge me if u want to! But lemme tell u well in advance..
He pauses & shifts his gaze back to her hazel eyes.
Arnav(confident smirk): U will lose!
Khushi(lowers her gaze): I'm not interested in any challenge-wallenge! Lets just talk about the food for now!..
She took a bite of the quiche & smiled.
Arnav: Hows it?
Khushi(nods): Its good but.. I miss croissants & jam!
Arnav(amused smile): U can hav that tomorrow. We'll b checking out post breakfast.
Khushi(smiles): Great!

Khushi smiled at Arnav when he pulled a chair for her at La Chinoiserie, the in-house restaurant at Hyatt Regency,Madeleine.
Khushi(sitting down): Thanks! Not just for this,but also for taking me to that wonderful garden!
Arnav(sitting opposite her): U're welcome!
Khushi: U know something? That garden reminded me of Shalimar bagh! Especially the fountains!

Khushi's mouth waters at the sight of the various desserts.
Arnav watches her expressions changing from elation to shock as she eyes the various desserts placed on the table.

Khushi: I can only see desserts over here. (concerned)What will u hav?
Arnav(hand on her shoulder): Relax! There r savoury items on the buffet. Look over there...
He points to the other buffer table which had escaped Khushi's notice.

She picks up a plate,without waiting for his reply.

Arnav: Not everything on the buffet table is vegetarian,thats y.

When Arnav returns to the table,Khushi finds an additional glass in his hand.

Arnav: No.This is blueberry smoothie. Pure vegetarian!

She enters the terrace,all ready to admonish him for his carelessness.
But before she could open her mouth,her gaze falls on the quilt kept on the armchair next to Arnav's.
Khushi: This.. quilt?
Arnav(stands up): I've kept it here beforehand. In case we fall asleep over here tonight,we wont catch a cold!
Khushi smiles warmly at the memory of their nightout in Jammu.
Arnav(extends his hand): Come..
Arnav makes her sit on his lap.
Then he wraps the quilt around their shoulders.
Arnav: Comfortable?
Khushi: Yeah.
She leans her head on his left shoulder while Arnav wraps his arms snugly around her waist.
Khushi: umm hmm! Not like this! That night u'd placed one arm around my waist n the other around my shoulder.
Arnav: Okay..
Arnav lifts an arm from around her waist only to wrap it around her shoulder.
Arnav: Is it okay now?
Khushi(smiles): Perfect!
She lets out a blissful sigh.
Khushi: BTW I.. dont intend to sleep here tonight.
Arnav: Really?so.. what do u intend to do tonight?
Khushi(blushes): As if u dont know!

She turns her face to her right & looks at Arnav with guilt-laden eyes.

Arnav: Y do u want me to take care of my mood? Is it bcoz u dont wanna ruin the end of a perfect day? Or.. is it coz u dont want me to b miffed with u?

He removes his arms from around her.

She takes one end of the quilt in her hand & pulls it as close to her head as possible,so as to cover her face.
Arnav(frowns): What r u doin?
In response, Khushi pecks his lips after hiding,or atleast attempting to hide behind the end of the quilt.
Arnav watches her,partly dazed & partly shocked.
Khushi: Thats it! U wont get.. anything else here! For the rest,u'll hav to.. come inside!
So saying she walks inside the bedroom suite,leaving Arnav & the quilt behind.

Arnav enters the bedroom suite a few minutes later to find Khushi sitting on the bed.
Arnav: So,what'll I get over here?
Khushi(plays along): what do u want?
Arnav(pretends to think): umm.. I want.. (smiles)my shy bride! (quirks his eyebrows)Will I get her?
Khushi: Yes,u will! But.. think carefully!
Arnav(sits on the bed): What should I think about?!
Khushi: I mean.. once the shy bride arrives,she wont let go of u very easily!I dont want u to.. regret,u know?! Thats y I said,think carefully!
Arnav(confident): I've decided! I want the shy bride! Even if she stays with me forever,I dont care!

He gets up and is about to leave when Khushi grabs his hand.

He sits in front of her and shakes his head.

Then he stands up and elevates her legs in such a way that her toes are facing the ceiling.

Arnav,meanwhile,parts her legs & places both her feet on his shoulders,such that her ankles were digging into his shoulder muscles.
Then he slides between her legs,positioning himself at her entrance.
Arnav: This position will.. initially seem uncomfortable but.. u'll get used to it pretty soon.
Khushi(thinks): How I wish that happens!
Arnav: Still,if u're in pain,just lemme know..
Khushi nods.
Arnav slides his hands up her legs.

Arnav: Relax Khushi! (points to the bed) Sit..
Khushi: No,thanks!
Arnav: Fine! So keep standing while listening to me!
Khushi: Y should I stand? Is it a punishment? (sits on the bed)I will sit here.
Arnav(shrugs): As u wish!
He kneels down on the floor and holds her hand.
Khushi: Dont touch me!
Arnav(leaves her hand): Fine! First of all,I'm sorry!
Khushi rolls her eyes and makes a face.
Arnav: I didnt tell u about it coz.. I wanted u to realize..
Khushi(confused): What?
Arnav: That u're no longer my shy bride!
Khushi(facing him): What?!
Arnav(nods): Number 1: U've come a long way from being the shy,submissive bride.So stop behaving like one!
Khushi: When did I behave like one? Werent u asking if u can get the shy bride or not?
Arnav: Ya so u could've refused. Y didnt u do that?
Khushi does not answer his question.
Arnav: Do u really think u're still the same old shy bride,Khushi? Think about it-hav u ever expressed what u want so explicity in the past?
Khushi shakes her head.
Arnav: We tried 2 new positions on the day I returned from London-1 on the stairs & the other in the kitchen. I knew that u were uncomfortable in the kitchen position. Am I right?
Khushi nods.
Arnav: I could feel it but I kept quiet coz I wanted u to voice ur discomfort. But u never did that. And the result? U ended up pulling ur leg muscle.
He lightly places his hand on top of hers and this time,as he'd expected,Khushi does not say anything.
Arnav: U withstood pain in order to try the new position. Rather,for my pleasure. That was really sweet of u,Khushi! (holds her hand firmly) But.. I'd never want u to bear pain in order to fulfill my wish! U dont need to do anything which makes u uncomfortable! I cant tell u how glad I am that u've openly told me what u like n what u do not like tonight! And u told me very clearly about stuff that u wont tolerate! Very good!
Khushi is surprised with his answer.
Khushi: I talked to u.. like that & yet u're saying very good?
Arnav: Thats bcoz u did the right thing! Now,coming to number 2: Its good to try new positions. We need some change from the routine. But that doesnt mean that we need to compromise,just to try something new. If we're not happy at the end of it,then there's no point in trying new position? Sex is satisfying and pleasurable not only for the body but also for the mind. And it should b pleasurable for both the partners. If u keep trying new positions mechanically, ignoring ur needs n ur comfort,my wish will b fulfilled but at what cost?
Sex doesnt mean giving pleasure to me,u need to b gratified and pleasured as well! And I know this for a fact that wen we're intimately in contact with each other-when we touch,kiss,feel each other,that is what u enjoy. Thats what I want as well! And most important is number 3-we both need to b physically fit. Health comes first. I dont want to try any position which would turn out b injurious for u. Understood?

Arnav(interrupts): Dont say sorry! And plz dont feel guilty,Khushi. Ur reaction was totally justified. In fact,I love this fiery side of urs! Better than the shy bride,any day!
Khushi rewards him with a smile.
Arnav: And thats exactly what I wanted to tell u,that u've evolved. U're more confident and aware now. Thats how u should b! If u can tell me about ur likes & dislikes,then cant u.. u know what I mean,right?
Khushi nods as a blush creeps up her cheek.
Arnav: Show me,Khushi.. Show me what u like!
Khushi gazes into his eyes after he says that.
Arnav: Will u?
Khushi: Ya.. but..
Arnav: Dont hesitate! I told u naa? U're not the shy bride anymore! U're bold & confident nowe! So say whatever u want to,without hesitating & with confidence!
Khushi lets out a sigh before looking into his eyes.
Khushi: I'm very tired today. I was anyways tired after roaming around the whole day. And now.. I'm feeling totally drained out. So.. not tonight! Tomorrow,for sure!
Arnav(smiles): Fine!
He stands up and scoops her in his arms.
Khushi: Where r u taking me now?
Arnav: Nowhere! I just wanna make sure that u're lying down properly.
He places her gently on the bed.
Then he bends down to take out the bottle of pain relieving spray from under the bed.
Khushi(shocked): How did it land here?
Arnav: I kept it here.
Khushi(super shocked): U? When?Why?
He sits on the edge of the bed,close to her feet.
Arnav: So that I dont hav to look for it in ur purse in case of an emergency!
Khushi(frowns): Emergency?
Arnav: Suppose u end up with a sprained leg while trying out a difficult position,it would prove to b handy in such times. Thats y I kept it here while u were having ur bath yesterday.
Khushi: But y r u applying it now? I'm fine. I've not sprained my leg or anything.
Arnav: I know. But I dont wanna wait till ur muscle gets pulled. (spraying it)U see, prevention is better than cure!
Khushi(smiles): Maan gaye,ustaad! Aapki jay ho! (I salute u,sir! U're the best!)
Arnav(smiles): Aapki bhi!(so r u!) (massages her legs) What is the female counterpart of an ustaad called?
Khushi: I dont know..
Arnav: Ask buaji tomorrow.
Khushi: Arnavji,tell me naa.. where r we going tomorrow? I'm ur wife! Dont I deserve to know where my husband is taking me?
Arnav: I'm ur husband. So I deserve to giv u surprises & do whatever is necessary for maintaining the suspense!
Khushi: U wont budge,isnt it?
Arnav: Nope! So dont even try! Now go to sleep. U'll get to know everything tomorrow!
He goes to the bathroom to wash himself.
Khushi: Someday,I will plan a surprise for u! A huge one!
Arnav(from the bathroom): Really?
Khushi: O yes! And then I'll keep torturting u by telling about the surprise a week before the d-day! Then u will come to know what it means to wait eagerly!
Arnav(from the bathroom): I'll wait for that day!
Khushi: U will break into a cold sweat on that day!
Arnav(coming out of the bathroom): What the..!?
Khushi: Lard governer kahin k!
Arnav switches off the lights after lying down on his side of the bed.
Arnav: Dont come this side! Stay where u r.
Khushi: Listen..
Arnav: Tell me?
Khushi: Its pretty cold. Y dont u fetch the quilt from the terrace?
Arnav: There must b something else over here. Wait.
He fetches a blanket from the cupboard & covers her with it.
Then he lies down next to her.
Khushi: And listen..
Arnav: Now what?
Khushi: Hav u applied the spray on ur legs as well?
Arnav: Of course not!
Khushi: Then y arent u turning towards me? I cant turn towards u coz of the spray. But what is ur problem?
Arnav: There's no problem!
He turns around to as to lie to his front.
Then he wraps an arm around her waist.
Arnav(kisses her shoulder): U cant bear the distance for even 1 night! Can u?
Khushi: No,I cant! did u hear that? Now come closer.
Arnav does what he is told.
Khushi wraps an arm around his neck & ruffles his hair.
Arnav: Khushi..
Khushi: Yes?
Arnav: Sorry!
Khushi: For what?
Arnav: For not telling u about the position. May b I chose the wrong method to.. tell u what I wanted to.
Khushi: Dont say that! Whatever happens,happens for the best! I told u whatever I wanted to. And I understood perfectly what u wanted me to understand! What could b better than that?
She turns to her left & kisses his forehead.
Khushi: Dont think too much about it. U're as tired as I am,isnt it?
Arnav nods.
Khushi: Goodnight!
Arnav(smiles): Goodnight,Volcano Singh Raizada!
Khushi: Okay.. So I'm a volcano,eh?
Arnav(nods): Of course!
Khushi: If I'm a volcano then u're.. the mother of all volcanoes!
Arnav(opens his eyes): What the..!?
Khushi: What else?! When u're enraged,u burst like a volcano!
Arnav: Yeah,right!
Khushi: Now keep quiet n go to sleep!
Arnav: Same to u! And plz,dont change to some wierd Taekwondo position in the middle of the night.
Khushi: Ya,okay!

Khushi falls asleep in a few minutes while Arnav keeps awake.
He gazes lovingly at Khushi's face which was illuminated by the moonlight streaming in through the windows.
Arnav(softly): Thank u so much,Khushi! Not just for understanding what I said but also for making me understand. I'm so happy with ur progress! I feel apart from u, I'm also evolving as a husband. Earlier I could not tolerate kurta-pyjama for even 1 hour. And now,I'm spending the entire day in kurta-pyjama! Not only that,I've learnt to keep a tab on my temper,bcoz of u. I'm experiencing new things,roaming around like a carefree person. I'm enjoying that aspect of life with u which I never wanted to think about! I'm becoming a better person day by day,(kisses her shoulder) all thanks to u! (kisses her neck)My fiery bride!
Khushi(groans in her sleep): umm..
Arnav(softly): Sorry! I dont wanna disturb u. Anyways(smirks)u wont get to sleep tomorrow! So take as much rest tonight as possible! U deserve it!
He closes his eyes & tries to sleep,even as his heart leaps in excitement.
