Chapter 5

*FLASHBACK*

Swayam twisted and turned in bed.. He moved his hand on the mattress next to him and at that instance heard some weird noises coming from the bathroom.. He jerked up just to find the side of his bed empty.. He ran to the bathroom to see Sharon throwing up.. He rushed to her side and held her hair with one hand and wrapped his hand around her with the other.. He was hell worried as to what had happened to her all of a suddenly.. Sharon washed her face and leaned back on Swayam as she felt drained.. He immediately pulled her closer hugging her..

Swayam (worried): Hey.. Kya hua? Suddenly vomiting?

Sharon (exhausted): Pata nahi kal se restless aur uneasy feel kar rahi thi..

Swayam picked her up in his arms as she rested her head on his chest.. He laid her on the bed and gave her a glass of water.. He sat next to her and was creasing her hair..

Swayam: Kal kyun nahi bataya tumhe immediately doctor ke paas leke jaata.. Wait I'll call the doctor..

Sharon (stopping him): Nahi Swayam.. Abhi I'm fine aur waise bhi kal doctor se baat hui I have an appointment in the afternoon today..

Swayam: Ok fine.. What time? Maine tumhe pick karne aa jaunga..

Sharon: Nahi.. You have an important meeting today.. And I'll go don't worry.. Aur agar kuch bhi hua toh I'll call you..

Swayam: Your health is more important ok?! Meetings can wait..

Sharon (sternly): No Swayam.. No more arguments.. I'm going alone and you are going to work..

Swayam: Par..

Sharon (glaring): Finally word..

Swayam (irritated): Ok fine.. But tum aaj kaam pe nahi jaa rahi..

Sharon: But Swayam..

Swayam (sternly): No more arguments.. Nahi toh main bhi aaj chutti le raha hu..

Sharon (giving up): Fine..

Swayam was still worried and that could be seen on his face.. He cupped her face with one hand and moved a bit closer to her..

Swayam: You sure you'll be fine?

Sharon smiled looking at his concern and nodded positively.. He moved forward and left a deep peck on her forehead.. Her smile grew wider and she wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him into a hug.. He gladly responded back to her gesture and pulled her even more closer if that was possible.. They were out of their trance when they heard a knock on the door followed by a worried voice..

Rishi: Swayam Sharon.. Beta sab theek toh hai na?

Swayam walked to the door and welcomed his dad inside and informed him about Sharon's health and Sharon hit her hand on her forehead when she heard Rishi..

Rishi: Aaj tum kahin nahi jaa rahi ho.. I'm going to drop you off at the doctor and pick you up from there.. Iss room se bahar nikalne ki sochna bhi mat aur kuch bhi chahiye ho toh awaaz de dena.. Aaj ki saari meetings cancel..

Sharon: Par Papa..

Rishi (sternly): Main jo keh diya so keh diya.. Understood?

Sharon pouted while agreeing to Rishi.. Swayam giggled looking at Sharon and received a glare from his wife while both father and son hi-fived.. They both looked at Sharon who stuck out a tongue at them and turned her head crossing her arms as if angry.. But she couldn't deny that both of them were no less when it came to take care of her or pamper her.. She always felt blessed having such a loving family.. Throughout the day Sharon was stuck in the room.. Swayam was calling her up every hour to see if she was fine followed by Rishi coming and asking her if she needs something.. And to add to Sharon's irritation Swayam had informed Kria who had then accompanied her to the doctor..

At night..

Swayam had come home early as she wasn't well.. Rishi was sitting in the living area reading some files when Swayam came..

Swayam: Good evening, Papa..

Rishi (looking at him, smiling): Good evening, Son..

Swayam (a bit hyper): Papa, Sharon kaisi hai? Doctor ne kya kahan? Koi serious baat toh nahi hai na?!

Rishi (giggling): Aare aare.. Saans toh lo.. Sharon theek hai room main araam kar rahi hai..

Swayam was about to walk to the room when Rishi stopped him.. And took a file that was on the table..

Rishi (giving the file to him): Swayam.. Yeh lo.. Sharon ki reports aayi abhi thodi der pehle..

Swayam took the file in a haste and opened it to see what was written in there.. Rishi was smiling widely keeping a close eye on his son's reaction.. As he opened the file and was going through the pages his eyes almost popped out of the socket.. He read.. re-read.. re-read again as he couldn't believe what was written on there.. It was as if he was zoned for a few moments.. He kept staring at those words..

Rishi (clearing his throat, smiling): Kya hua beta?.. Kuch serious baat toh nahi hai na?!

*No response*

Rishi (a bit louder): Swayam!

Swayam (coming out of his trance): aa.. ha..haan.. haan..

Rishi: Kya hua? Kya likha hai?

Swayam (stammering): Woh.. main.. Sharon.. woh.. mera.. woh..Papa.. Maa.. woh..

Rishi looks at his son's eyes that had started brimming by now.. He stood next to him and gently put his hand on Swayam's shoulder giving it a light squeeze..

Rishi (softly): Sharon tumhara intezaar kar rahi hai..

Swayam smiles looking at his dad and just then a tear made its way down his cheek.. He wiped it immediately and walked to their room.. He slowly opened the door to see his darling wife sitting on the bed who got out of her thought due to the sudden noise.. Swayam saw a different glow on her face and her eyes speaking volumes.. Her eyes too were moist as she saw him walk toward her with his gaze stuck on her.. He sat next to her and held her hand in his.. Both were finding it hard to express their thoughts.. their feelings in words.. Both sat silent for a few moments absorbing the news.. After a long silence finally Swayam spoke..

Swayam (looking deep into her eyes): Thank you..

Sharon (smiling): Kis liye?

By now the tears had started flowing but both held a content expression with a smile that never left their face..

Swayam: Duniya ki sabse badi khushi dene ke liye..

Sharon slowly took her hand to his face and wiped his tears with her fingers.. She held his face with one hand and got him closer placing a kiss on his forehead and mumbled a I love you' breathing over his skin.. Swayam slowly looked up resting his forehead over hers.. Both had their eyes closed with the happiness still flowing.. He mumbled a Love you too' and both sat like that for a few moments.. He opened his eyes to see her still grinning with her eyes closed.. He moved forward and placed his warm lips on her soft one's.. She was taken by surprise but somewhere even knew it was coming.. She responded back immediately.. It was slowly.. gentle.. soft.. yet passionate.. None of them were in a hurry as they wanted to share their happiness to the fullest.. Today words seemed less.. And emotions felt deep.. Their lips moved in sync moulding it into a perfect fit.. His hands were creasing her cheek while hers were massaging his nape.. They were in no rush yet.. It was a moment of bliss.. As they say actions speak louder than words, they were experiencing something very similar.. Or maybe same.. Before she was out of breath Swayam thought of pulling out.. But he continued placing a few pecks on her lips while she smiled at his gesture.. Again resting his forehead over her both waited to get back their breath.. This time Sharon opened he eyes and saw the sightly features of her husband..

Sharon: Congratulations.. Mr. Daddy Shekhawat..

Swayam's was grinning ear to ear on hearing the word Daddy'.. He slowly opened his eyes and looked into her eyes.. Her eyes had this glint which was completely new..

Swayam (grinning): Wouldn't have been possible without you Mrs. Mommy Shekhawat..

He winked at her and both broke into a giggle sitting up straight.. Swayam took her hand in his and intertwined their fingers.. He held it tight and bought it up to his lips.. He placed a deep peck on her forehand and looked up at her.. That Smile!.. That smile was also different.. It wasn't the usual one to which his heart skipped a beat.. This was the one where his heart stopped beating maybe.. Maybe this news had changed his Sharon into someone different.. Someone who is not only a wife but soon to be a mother.. Maybe she is already experiencing the change.. Why wouldn't she?! Their baby is breathing in her womb..

Sharon: Kya soch rahe ho?

Swayam just nodded negatively yet looking deep into her and trying to let the news still sink in.. It just felt like a dream.. He always wanted a family with His Sharon.. He always wished to have babies.. Their babies..

Swayam slowly got up and put out a hand gesturing Sharon to come along with him.. Sharon gladly accepted his hand and both walked out of their room.. There Rey, Kria and Rishi were sitting and chatting when Sharon and Swayam came out of their room hand in hand.. Both first went to Rishi and took his blessings.. Then they moved to Kria and Rey.. Kria hugged Swayam and shook him to an extent where they were about to fall if Swayam wouldn't have regained his balance.. Rey carefully pulled Sharon in a friendly hug..

Sharon (pouting): Dida! I deserve a hug too!

Kria (walking to her): Of course Choti! (hugging her) God bless you.. Main aaj bahut bahut bahut khush.. After all Maasi banne wali hu..

Sharon hid her face in Kria's shoulder and tightened her grip..

Sharon (silent tears, murmurs): Miss mom and dad..

Kria immediately broke the hug and cupped Sharon face..

Kria (wiping her tears): No Choti.. No tears.. Aaj toh khushi ka din hai na?! And do you think mom or dad would have liked it if they were here (Sharon nods negatively) Then stop crying I don't want my banja or bhanji to be a cry baby..

Swayam (stepping in between): Banja nahi its going to be a bhanji..

Sharon: Nope.. Its going to be a Banja..

Swayam (look at Sharon with a raised eyebrow): Sharon.. mujhe pata hai.. Ladki hogi..

Sharon (with her hands on her hips): Tumse kisne keh diya?! Its going to be a boy..

Swayam: Girl..

Sharon: Boy..

Swayam: Maine kaha na Ladki..

Sharon: Tumhare kehne se kya hota hai?! Ladka hoga..

Swayam: Mere kehne se kya hota hai matlab?! Oh hello yeh baby mera bhi utna hi hai jitna tumhara.. So I have a saying too..

Sharon: Who said? Bacha humara hai but you have no saying.. Get that straight.. The baby is inside me..

Swayam: So?! Just because the baby is your womb doesn't mean that I have no say.. I'm the Father..

Sharon: So?

Rey (almost shouting): CUT IT!

Sharon and Swayam stopped abruptly and looked at Rey confused..

Rey: Guys behave.. Ab tum dono Mom-Dad bann gaye ho..

Sharon-Swayam: Toh?

Rey gave up telling them anything.. Kria and Rishi shared a giggle looking at the trio looking at each other.. Poor Rey.. All of them then shared a hearty laugh.. They spent some time together talking about the baby and what plans Swayam and Sharon had in mind..

*FLASHBACK ENDS*

Rishi (giggling): Bichara Rey.. Uss din se usne kasam khaa li thi he will never step in Sharon and your fights..

Swayam (chuckling): Woh aur Kria toh college ke time se have been the peace makers between Sharon and my fights.. Bahut kiya hai unn dono ne hum dono ke liye..

Rishi and Swayam were lost in their own individual thoughts for a moment.. Rishi was the first one to come out of his thoughts.. He looked at Swayam who was sitting on the adjacent couch.. He shifted and sat next to him..

Rishi (keeping his hand on his shoulder): Ek baat puchu?

Swayam (coming out of his trance): aa..haan..haaan Papa puchiye na..

Rishi: Kyun?.. Jab itna pyaar karte ho Sharon se phir yeh sab kyun?

The smile on Swayam's face dropped.. He looked at Rishi with a blank expression..

Rishi: I know kuch aisa hua hai jo sirf tum jaante ho.. Yahan tak tumne Sharon se alag hone ka decision le liya.. Aur usse toh yeh bhi nahi pata ki yeh sab kyun hua hai.. Beta I know there is something.. something major jo tumhe andar se khaaye jaa raha hai.. Please tell me Son.. Baat kya hai?.. I clearly remember the first 4 months of Sharon's pregnancy was a beautiful phase for both of you'll

*FLASHBACK*

Sharon and Swayam had discovered a completely new phase of life.. In these 4 months Sharon had seen a caring.. possessive.. protective.. understanding.. Actually to sum it up in one word she had seen a Father.. Not Lover.. Not Husband.. But a Perfect Father to their baby.. She felt blessed to have him in her life and thanked God everyday for giving her Swayam as her life partner..

Just like everyday Sharon was working at home not stressful physical work but just instructing Kaka and stuff.. But since morning she had been feeling a severe pain in her stomach.. She was fine till afternoon.. Swayam had noticed it and had thought of going home for lunch as Sharon didn't let him take and off.. When Swayam reached home in the afternoon he saw Sharon on the bed trying to get up..

Swayam (running to her): Hey.. Shar.. Chalo doctor ke paas subh se dekh raha hu you are stuggling to even walk..

Sharon tried standing up with Swayam's support but the next moment she felt to the floor clutching her stomach and whining in pain.. Her stomach was killing her.. It was becoming difficult for her to bare the pain.. She screamed and tightly held onto Swayam's shirt trying to bare the pain.. Streams of tears had made their way down her eyes.. Swayam himself had faced a panic attack looking at her in so much pain.. He without wasting another second picked her up in his arms and rushed her to the hospital as soon as possible.. He was hell worried would surely be an understatement.. But he had to try and keep hi calm as he had to take care of Sharon who was now sweating and crying holding her stomach unable to even sit up straight.. As they reached the hospital Sharon's doctor immediately took her inside a room telling Swayam to wait outside..

Swayam had gone all restless from the time they had taken Sharon inside.. He was not only scared for Sharon but also their baby.. He could afford to let anything happen to any one of them.. They both were his lifeline.. Each second felt like a decade.. It seemed as if the clock had stopped ticking.. Swayam was pacing outside Sharon's room for God knows how long.. After about an hour or so Sharon's doctor walked out of the room and Swayam almost jumped towards her..

Swayam (panicking): Doctor.. Sharon kaisi hai?.. Usse kya ho gaya tha?.. Humara baby kaisa hai?.. Dono theek toh hai na?.. Koi problem toh nahi hai nah?!

Doctor (calming Swayam down): Please Mr. Shekhawat.. You need to relax.. Agar aap aise panic honge toh Sharon ko sambhalna mushkil ho jayega..

Swayam (shocked): Matlab..

Doctor: Sharon theek hai.. But.. Hum bache ko nahi bacha sake..

Swayam stood numb.. Rooted to his place.. He didn't know how to react.. He looked at the doctor with wide open eyes that were now shedding tears without his knowledge..

No! No! This can't be true! Nothing can happen to Our baby.. No!
