This is my first OS. Basically i got this idea, whilst in a creative writing lecture last week and i couldn't resist, so i penned it down. Do let me know what you think.
She was sat on the swing chair with her legs folded underneath her and a blanket over her, in the balcony of their apartment looking at the sunrise. Her thoughts travelled back 10 years to when her painfully life took an unexpected turn for the best'
It was dark and a little girl no older than 13, dressed in a little blue frock and a basket in her hand, was walking through a unknown forest out in the wild far from home. The trees stood still around her watching, staring as she walked further into the forest. Leaves rapidly circled around her, rustling as if preparing for a battle. Owls howled, which to her sounded like a battle cry. Her fingers grew colder as she walked further, sensing that a storm would break through sometime soon. A sudden flash of movement sent her head snapping to the right.
A tall oak tree, most likely nearly 200 years old, stood tall looking down at what, to her, looked like a boy no older than her, hunched down on the forest ground in pain, dragging his feet towards the tree like a little boy goes towards his mother seeking comfort, leaving behind a little trail of blood. Head hung down, arms lay motionless beside him and legs giving in, the boy fell a few meters from the roots of the tree. To an onlooker it was as if the boy was in a comfortable sleep but Khushi could see that his body was slowly giving up. A flash of raw determination shone in his eyes as he focused on the tree and slowly crawled his way towards it, curling up next to its roots.
Anyone in Khushi's position in that situation would have been thankful to The Almighty God that the boy hadn't noticed her. However Khushi was thankful for a different reason. She wanted change and adventure in her simple life and so she headed towards the boy because her mum had always told her to help people as much as you can and never to leave them alone. And this boy needed help. Silently, taking carefully measured steps, she advanced towards the boy to avoid startling him.
Hesitantly, she approached him but stooping a little distance away. She spoke, "Hello there, are you alright?" On getting no reply or a sign of acknowledgement she took a few uncertain steps towards him and after looking around for a safe spot near him she knelt beside him and lightly settled a hand on his shoulder. He flinched and shuffled away slightly. If even a leave had fell from the tree she would have missed the little wince he let out whilst shifting. "Mr!? don't be scared, I can help you." But she made no effort to move, afraid, she didn't want him to harm himself anymore and sat there and waited until he was comfortable to talk.
"Will you really help me?" She would have missed it if she hadn't seen his lips move. He turned his head slightly and looked at Khushi. Comfort and assurance he looked for when he looked into Khushi's eyes. This went unnoticed by her and it is exactly what she did. "Yes, just tell me and I will help you. Always." And she had reassured him, she would help him and be there for him always. He began to relax. With the help of Khushi he sat straight up.
Once he was sat comfortable has possible in a forest, Khushi pulled her basket towards them and opened it up. "Have something to eat." she said in a no non-sense tone, making it evident that he had no choice but to eat. She held a slice of apple, that she had just chopped up, to his mouth and waited for him to open his mouth. When he didn't take it from her she raised an eyebrow as if asking 'what'. He instantly shook his head and opened his mouth to take the apple from her mouth.
"You shouldn't be her, you don't know what you are getting yourself into, my story isn't simple or normal" he spoke once he had finished. "well maybe it is time I try something, not normal, something extra-ordinary, i need to get away from my life and family now i cant deal with it." She replied in a cold tone and pain evident in her eyes. "Khushi" she said and held out her hand. The boy brought his hand forward and shook her hand. "Khushi, exactly what i have been looking for all this time." "And I'm here to stay, now show me your leg" the little boy looked at her in confusion thinking 'how did she know I'm hurt'
"Have you got cranberry juice in you pocket" she asked looking at his confused face. He shook his head in confusion. "Then I'm guessing you hurt yourself and the trail of red is blood then right" a hint of amusement in her eyes and a small smile playing on her lips as she spoke. "Ooohh" was all he replied and rolled up his shirt.
Khushi looked at his leg and saw a big gash on the side, traveling from his back to his waist. From what it looked like, Khushi gathered that this was the doing of a knife. But thought best to stay quite. She pulled out a little first aid kit from her basket and applied anti-septic before bandaging it up. All the while the boy just looked at her and the only thought that was running through his mind was that she was the only person he could trust with his secret.
"Khushi...Khushi" a clicking of someone's fingers brought her out of her thoughts."what were you thinking about so deeply. He asked, curiously as he handed her a cup filled with hot chocolate and marshmallows. "I was thinking of the most special day of my life" she paused and took a sip of her drink as the person in front of her sat next to her and pulled the blanket over his legs too and continued "The day i met you, Arnav and got away from my horrible family" Arnav smiled and sip his coffee. "Mine too".
Just then they heard a sleepy voice call out, "Mumma, Papa" a 4 year old boy, in his Toy Story pyjamas and dishevelled hair stood at the sliding door, rubbing his little eyes. " Hey, Aarav, did you sleep well" Arnav said as he put down his coffee to pick up his son and sat him in the space between them. Aarav cuddle up to his mum and said "no Buddy, but now i will" he stuck his tongue out at Arnav and closed his eyes. Arnav chuckled at his sons behaviour and went about finishing his coffee "jaise Baap, vaise Beta" Khushi mumbled lulling Aarav back to sleep.
They had been through a lot since that day, seen many things, had great falls, and better rises, but one thing remained and that was that they always were, are and will be together no matter what may come.
