The few days after were spent in secret glances between Arnav and Khushi. Even though their attraction for each other was quite obvious, Arnav would never show it with company around.
"I have to go," he told a young man named Veer who was having a casual conversation with him. He puffed out his chest as he walked with authority and a hard expression to get home. But Khushi's earlier words about having people love him ran through his mind. He exhaled deeply making his chest come back to normal and his face softened. He even winked at a group of kids with a smile making them stare at him open mouthed.
He quietly stepped through the open door of his house. His mother wasn't home and Adi was at school, leaving Khushi alone. Perhaps he should have been ashamed of such a thought but his thoughts about her had long surpassed that.
He walked towards the kitchen with his sandals now off as he tried to walk as silently as possible with his eyes boring on the back of her head as she stood by the counter, cutting onions again.
Khushi heard quiet movement behind her. She rolled her eyes. Of course - it was Adi sneaking home. "Aditya!" She said in an unimpressed tone as she turned around but only to find Arnav behind her. "What are you doing here?" She asked as she readjusted her dupatta that was tied around her waist.
"It's my house, Khushi. Don't ask such a stupid question," he said on purpose in order to see her blazing cheeks. "Right," she said and turned her back to him again.
He took a step to stand next to her and took pride that she was still wearing the bracelet he'd given her. He didn't want her to take it off - it was a token of his feelings that he didn't dare put a title to...yet.
"The councilmen are back tomorrow. They don't know that you're here but I'm sure that bas***d Vijay will tell his father first chance he gets," Arnav said clenching his fists at the mere thought of Vijay.
"Vijay's father is a councilman?" Khushi asked as she stopped chopping because she was curious to know more. Surely the man would never agree to her staying if his son hated Arnav so much. Arnav sensed her worry. "Don't forget, if push comes to shove, then I'll ignore their vote."
Khushi furrowed her eyebrows at him then turned the temperature down on the gas stove as she stared at him with her arms crossed over her chest. "No. I want this to be a fair vote. I don't want to stay here if the only one who wants me here is you."
"Why? I'm not enough?" Arnav challenged and saw her look away as she mumbled something. "I'm not going to stay here if they don't want me to. I'll go back," she said seriously.
"You're going to go back to the place where they're going to force you to get married?" He asked and his lips formed a straight line when she shrugged her shoulders. "A lot of girls get married without choice. Maybe he won't be so unbearable," she said and regretted it as Arnav's eyes burned with flames.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked but he didn't reply. For someone so adamant on decisions he made in life, he couldn't bare hearing such nonsense of her belonging to another. "Be ready for tomorrow," he said as he was about to leave but a little something stopped him. He looked over his shoulder to see her holding onto his grey kameez. She tugged on it to pull him back until his back hit the counter. "What's your problem?" She began to put up her act as she put her hands on her hips and glared at him. Arnav Singh Raizada did not look good as an angry man with furrowed eyebrows and a clenched jaw. She wanted his million-dollar smirk and she was going to do whatever she had to to get it in that moment
"I don't have a problem. Get back to work," he was about to leave but Khushi held his forearm. "Maybe you don't but I do," she said and he raised an eyebrow at her. "You didn't bring me enough gifts so I want you to do something to make up for that," she tried hard to keep her smile off when the corners of his lips curled up ever so slightly. "What else do you want?"
"The waterfalls," she said and continued before he could interrupt. "I know I've seen them but I want to stand behind one. You know? Like right under the cliff. I'm not planning to stand there forever so can we go now?" She asked with hope.
"No. You'll probably fall," he said sternly and saw her smirk a bit. "You'll be there to catch me," she said and giggled when he walked away and pulled her hand along as he gave in.

"Come!" She yelled as she stood on the rocks with the water falling down in sheets in front of her eyes. She had to be careful to not hit her head on the rocks right above her. She was half soaked but what was done, was already done. She called for Arnav again but he stayed standing on the rocks, barely able to see her as the water obscured his view.
When none of that worked, she stuck her hand through the water and waved for him to come. Pulling her hand back, her entire arm was drenched. She was thankful she was wearing a colored kameez but her bottoms were sticking to her legs as she had to walk through the water...and they were white.
She finally saw a figure cast a shade from behind the curtain of running water before he emerged through and immediately combed his wet hair back with his fingers. "What a stupid idea," he spat as he looked down at his wet figure. Khushi was too excited to pay any heed to his reaction.
She inched closer as she touched the water and giggled for the tickling sensation. She didn't say anything as she felt him standing next to her but she couldn't ignore his presence forever with his constant gaze on her. She looked up at him and bobbed her head. He stood another step towards her before he reached out and took a hold of her wrist to turn her towards him.
She loved this particular look of his. He seemed uncertain yet determined. It was like he was fighting a battle on the inside but he was always aware of his target. Being in absolute privacy, her insides shook was excitement. She would readily accept whatever he did - that's how far she'd fallen for him.
He gazed at her face and couldn't understand how calm she seemed. Would it be proper to do what he thought of doing? What he couldn't seem to control? The urge to mark her as his in many more ways than just the bracelet?
Khushi looked away from his eyes and let out a sigh before sticking her hand to the water, and flicking it towards his face to shake him out of his daze. She started laughing before his beastly side came out and he grabbed her nape to pull her close to him.
"Are you scared?" He asked in a low voice as both their chests were heaving in unison with every breath. She slowly shook her head and then the hold around her waist sent immediate goose bumps up her arm. "Now?" He asked.
She grazed her hand on the arm that was holding her waist up to his bicep. She felt the slight change on his hold on her nape as he loosened it and moved it so his hand was right by her jaw.
"I'm not scared," she replied and her heart started racing with anticipation as his thumb pushed her chin up and he brought his face forward. Her eyes closed just seconds before he tenderly pressed his lips against hers. After a couple soft and feathery kisses, Khushi grew impatient. She couldn't believe how much control the man had and made it her goal to have him let go.
She sent her other free hand around his back and plastered herself closer to him. Because of his ridiculous height, she wrapped both arms around his neck to support herself as she stood on her tippy toes. She pulled back once and gazed at his brown orbs then went in for his lips to show him that she'd submitted herself.
His hands possessively wrapped around her waist, as he grew hungry and began kissing her with a fiery passion. It was a first for the both of them and they both took pride in that - especially Arnav because of his possessive demeanor towards her.
About to lose all control, he pulled away and unwound Khushi's arms from around his neck but continued to hold on to her hands. "Don't push me to do something that's not appropriate."
"Even I have values - I wouldn't let you go that far," she said but her eyes kept falling back to his lips. It was the first time she kissed anyone and the way he kissed her made her swoon. Maybe it was wishful thinking, but she was sure he was the only man she ever wanted to kiss.
"Good. I wouldn't like someone who did," he said and saw her eyes widen. "What?" He asked.
"You...nevermind," she said and hurriedly yet carefully ran off. Arnav let out a long and heavy sigh. He outstretched his hand to feel the falling water and smirked at the memory of Khushi. He might not have lost control physically, but emotionally, he felt like he was a goner.

Uday, Akash, Maneesh, Laxman, Kapil, Vijay and Arnav all waited for the return of the elderly. It was a beautiful sunny day with just the perfect breeze but Arnav's mood matched a dark and gloomy one. He was standing only a few feet away from Vijay, after all.
"Are you going to ask them to make a decision today or tomorrow?" Akash asked quietly so others couldn't hear in on their conversation. Arnavsecretly threw death glares at Vijay. He didn't trust him one bit - the man would do anything just to prove that Arnav didn't have all the power in the village.
"Obviously tomorrow," Arnav replied though stress was taking over his mind. As if he didn't have enough problems before, there was now a new one. And where he probably wouldn't have cared if she stayed or not in the beginning, this was a girl he was not willing to let go of now.
After an hour of waiting, the two cars finally arrived. Arnav was particularly happy to see Uncle Dev after such a long time. He went over and gave him a big welcoming hug. Dev was specially chosen to be a member of the council by Arun when he was alive. For Arnav, he was like a second father.
He got blessings from Chatur and quickly moved on when Vijay came to hug his father. The oldest council member was Ashok who was a teenager in the time of his grandfather but the guy managed to live past the big 80. He smiled at Arnav when he saw him and blessed him as he put a slightly trembling hand on his head. "How do you feel chacha?"
"I'm glad to be home, Arnav," he said in his throaty voice and stood around with his cane in his hand. Kishen was another elder whose father was a great friend of Arnav's grandfather's and also one of the first to join the village. "Where's my family, Arnav?" The sixty-six year old man asked.
"I told them to prepare as best they can for you so they're all waiting at home," he explained with a smile. He moved on to the last elder who was Madhav, the funniest of the bunch. "They practically had to pull me from Amritsar. My peace is going to be destroyed with the complaints from my wife. God knows how much she's been keeping on her chest, just waiting to unload it all once I arrive," he said and Arnav chuckled at the man. He knew that despite his jokes, he loved his family just as much as the other men.
As they all made their way home, Arnav stayed back with Akash. "This better end well."
"If they say no, it's only because of the rule you made yourself years ago. Really, they would only be respecting your wishes," Akash pointed out.
"What if my wishes have changed?" He asked as he stared off into the forest on the opposite side of the houses.
"Then you've got to put up a good fight," he said and nodded when Arnav looked at him with concern. If that's what it came to, then he would.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well because I'm not! haha. I'm kinda disabled at the moment but I managed to write this! Don't know how you found this part, but next part is going to be good. 😉
One thing everyone! I MIGHT be updating this everyday from now on. I'm not so sure but I have to complete this soon so I won't rush the story, rather I'll just update sooner so just a head's up!
The last line Arnav said to Khushi at the waterfall and her eyes widened...he said he wouldn't like anyone who didn't have the values. He practically told her he liked her but he didn't realize it. lol. Stupid, I know.
If I were feeling better, I'd cry and tell you guys how much I honestly and truthfully appreciate your response to this story. Thank you very much. I hope there isn't ever any doubt as to how much I appreciate your support. 🤗
