Chapter 2: First Encounter with 'Him'

She came home pale and tired, it was almost nine, Sweden had told her that she was taking Anne to the ice cream parlour along with her to-be-husband Robert. There was a time when she was as chirpy, bubbly and beautiful as Anne, but now, as she glanced at herself in the mirror she looked pale, malnutritioned, little auburn hairs fell on her forehead, she had dark, dark circles and her cheeks? Surprisingly there was no sign of them, they had vanished in her face somewhere, she was no longer the chubby cute little girl at college, instead she was the pathetic skinny girl. She gave herself an sympathetic look, and then as she lay back on the couch she really didn't know what happened next.

She transformed in an instant, she wore a white dim coloured gown which was a misfit, it covered her legs with no slippers in them, her room didn't look hers anymore, the walls were blue instead of pink, her bed with white decorations wasn't there, instead there was a black one, which could never really be her choice, room had many different posters, it had a hockey stick and Rihanna as wallpaper on the adjacent wall, it looked okay, with a computer on the side, she could adjust in it too, but who had done it? She sensed a knock on the door,

'Come in' she yelled, so, they were back now.

No one came, not even a response, she moved towards the door, but suddenly she couldn't she felt her legs stuck on floor, as if they were glued, she could not move it was as if something was holding her. An ache caused a cry to escape from her mouth, a loud one, the pain was the back of her leg, maybe something caught over there, she thought and as tried to move she stumbled. She closed her eyes, ready to face another injury, but when she opened them she found a gentle shoulder helping her walk, he walked her over to the couch and made her sit, 'Kriya' the same hush came out of the guys mouth, she didn't answer, she was so shocked to answer.

Gulp.

Who was he? What did he want? Where was she? What was she doing here? If it was her room, what was he doing here? And who was he? There were only questions.

His hand brushed against the soft flesh of her leg, what was he exactly doing? She was too scared to ask anyway. She bate her lip, as he tried to pull out something from the back of her leg, 'ouch' she cried as the pain occurred, 'sorry' the dusky voice whispered she grabbed his arm unconsciously, she felt it was cold, soon after the thing was pulled out she tried to examine it, and eventually failed to figure out what it was, 'It's a stone' the voice behind her said.

'A stone?' she asked more to herself than him.

'A pebble probably, are you fine now?' he asked and she nodded.

A strand of hair came to her face, irritating her. Why the hell was her hair open by the way? The arm in front of her eyes was trembling, it was literally shaking, as the hand approached her and tucked the escaping hair behind her ears, she let out a smile, 'Thank you' she politely said.

'Um, mind If I sit?' he asked looking at the space next to her.

'No, not at all' she said moving away giving him a little more space to sit.

He sat next to her, gently he took her hand in his, sending shiver down her spine, he stroked her hand, which made her almost tremble.

'I am here to say sorry' he said, receiving confused glares from Kriya.

'Bu..' she was interrupted.

'Shh.. stay quiet' he said 'I'm.. sorry for the whispers'

What did he exactly mean? Why was he saying this? What impression did he give by holding her hand? And Whispers? Was he the one behind them? If yes, then why? What did he want from her?

'Did you..?' she spoke no more when saw him nodding, 'But why?'

'Because I wanted to talk, I never really wanted to torture you or scare you away, I just wanted to

talk. After ages I've found someone who can listen to me' he said

'And you expected me to reply in my sleep?' she asked her words trembling.

'I-I'm sorry, maybe I was just excited in the anticipation' he said looking straight at her. Her hands tightened around his.

'It's okay, I understand' she said 'Where am I?'

'This is my room' he smiled

'Your room? But how did I..? I mean, I don't remember how..?' she was interrupted again, he kept a finger on those pink plump lips.

'Shh.. this is just a dream Kriya' he said 'You're sleeping'

She laughed a little nervously 'My sleep is so damn light, i never really get to watch dreams'

'Now on you will' he hushed, he stopped stroking her hand, instead he covered her eyes with his hand and silently hushed 'Close you eyes'

'But why?' she asked.

'Because that would help you to get up more effectively' he said

'Huh?' she asked

'You're going to wake up' he said

'But I don't want to...' she was about to say, but was interrupted.

'Don't worry, you'll meet me again tomorrow' and with that he kissed her palm gently and she saw the bright light of the sun.

For the first time in weeks, Kriya Ghai, slept for whole night, that too peacefully.
