Chapter 4
Swayam was busy working in his office'.. But there was something different today'.. The glow on his face'.. the smile continuously dancing on his lips'.. those eyes glittering with joy'.. Yes he was happy today'.. the reason was so obvious'.. Sharon!
He was busy in his thoughts when he heard the door of his cabin open and he was bought back to reality'..
Rey: Hey dude, whats up?
Swayam (smiling): Hey Rey! Tu yahan?
Rey: Haan woh bas Kriya se milne aaya tha! Tu bata aaj bahut khush lag raha hai'.. Anything special?
Swayam (stammering): Special? Nahi yaar aisi koi baat nahi hai!
Rey (suspicious): Hey main tujhe itne saalo se jaanta hu so please mujhse toh jhoot mat bol'.. I'm your best friend yaar! Chal bata baat kya hai?
Swayam (nervously): Woh kal shaam Sharon ke ghar'..
Rey: Sharon ke ghar kya?
Swayam: Woh'.. Actually Sharon aur meri baat hui and we both have decided that we'll remain good friends!
Rey (shocked): What?
Swayam: Haan woh hum humare past ko bhulke ek naya start karna chahte hai but only as friends'..
Rey: Swayam are you sure? I mean tu uske liye jo feel karta hai uske baad bhi tu'.
Swayam: Rey I know tu kya bolne ki koshish kar raha hai'.. Haan main Sharon se pyaar karta hu'. In fact bahut pyaar karta hoon par agar woh life main aage badh chuki hai aur khush hai toh main bhi bahut khush hu'.. Aur uski khushi ke liye main zindagi bhar uska dost banne ke liye tyaar hoon'..
Rey: Par uski toh engagement'.. aur uska fianc bhi hai'.. tujhe uncomfortable'..
Swayam: Koshish kar raha hoon ke jitni jaldi ho iss baat ko accept karlu aur yeh discomfort Sharon ko na dikhau'..kyunki ab bhi uski comfort mere liye bahut important hai'..Aur Sharon ke liye kuch bhi'..
Rey (putting his hand over his shoulder): Tu khush hai?
Swayam: Haan yaar main bahut khush hu'.. Dost hi sahi, atleast woh mere paas toh hai!
Rey: Agar tu khush hai na, toh even I'm happy!
He hugs Swayam tight feeling happy for his friend'.. Suddenly Swayam breaks the hug
Swayam: Aare Sharon ko milna tha'.. Usse promise kiya tha!
Rey: Sharon ko?
Swayam: Haan yaar filhaal she is on a holiday toh maine usse kahan tha ke main shaamko usse bahar lekar jaunga'..
Rey: Ok! Go and enjoy!
Swayam rushes out of the office and runs to his car'.
Swayam (in mind): Yaar Sharon ko bahar lekar jaa raha hu, toh suit main'.. Nahi yaar'.. Ek kaam karta hu ghar jaakar change kar leta hoon'.. Nahi ghar jaunga toh late ho jaunga'.. Raaste main koi Shopping mall main nahi hai ke main naye kapde le lu'.. Kya karu?
Just then he removes his waist-coat and roles up his sleeves to his elbow'.. Opens the first two buttons of his shirt and messes up his gelled hair'.. Sitting in his car he drives up to Sharon house'..
In Sharon's house'..
Sharon was busy cooking'.. She was working on her event since morning and had no track of the time'.. It was 3pm and she was super hungry by now'.. While cooking she was lost in her own thoughts'.. She was making some white sauce pasta when she remembers an incident from the past'.
*FLASHBACK*
Swayam: Sharon!!! Baby I'm hungry!!!!
Sharon: Swayam give me 10 minutes I'm trying to make your favorite dish'..
Swayam: What you're making pasta?
Sharon: Yes baby!
Swayam was sitting outside on the sofa and switching through channels'.. It was Sunday so they as usual were sitting at Sharon's place and spending some good quality time'.. They watched some good Hollywood and Bollywood movies since morning with some popcorn'.. It was lunch time and Sharon had insisted that she would cook so not to order food from outside'.. Swayam was really hungry as his dear girlfriend was trying to cook since the past 2 hours'.. Fed up sitting alone he walked into the kitchen and burst out laughing when he saw his angel sitting on the kitchen slab with her laptop open'.. Recipe books scattered around her'.. She was sitting legs crossed and a cute pout on her face, continuously focusing on the screen'.. He moved forward slowly and kissed her on her cheek
Swayam: Yeh kya ho raha hai!
Sharon jerked up with the sudden kiss and his presence'..
Sharon (with one hand above her chest): What the hell Swayam! Darra diya tumne mujhe!
Swayam (cutely): I'm sorry par yeh ho kya raha hai?
Sharon (pouting): Woh actually I was trying to make your favorite pasta but mujhe koi acchi recipe mil hi nahi rahi!
Swayam (giggling): Ok toh chalo I'll teach you today and tum next time mere liye banana'..
Sharon's face lit up with joy'.. She continued sitting on the slab while Swayam was busy cooking the white sauce pasta and simultaneously explaining the different steps to Sharon'.. She was adoring his cute face with the serious dedication'.. his hair irritating his forehead'.. and those elightful expressions when he by mistake added more of some ingredient'..
*FLASHBACK END*
Suddenly she felt the steam on her hand and flicked out of her trance'.. She smiled to herself thinking about those beautiful days of her life'.. She was almost done when she heard the doorbell ring'.. leaving back her work she proceeded ahead'..
Swayam (cheerfully): Hey!
Sharon (happily): Hey! Come in!
As they walked in
Sharon: How can I forget, Man of your words haan! Shaam bola tha and your are here at the time you promised!
Swayam: Yes! Koi shak?!
Sharon: Hmmm'.. So lunch kiya?
Swayam: Mmm
Sharon: Ok baitho I'll go get our lunch'..
Sharon walks to the kitchen and comes out with 2 bowls and a serving bowl'.. Swayam helps her and gets some juice from the refrigerator'.. She serve the pasta to each of them and both have a seat on the dining table'.. Swayam noticed that she had made his favourite dish but chose not to comment as it might make Sharon uncomfortable...
Swayam: Tumne abhi tak lunch kyun nahi kiya?
Sharon: Woh I was busy with my events report and stuff'..
Swayam: Ms. Workaholic Rai Prakash'.. Why am I not surprised!
Sharon (confused): Matlab?
Swayam: College main bhi CS and then GS, dono duties itni seriously le li that Rey aur mere paseene chuda diye kaam karva karva ke'.. VP sir ko khush karna was easy but to get The Sharon Rai Prakash happy was a hard man task'..
Sharon: What rubbish!
Swayam: I swear! Ask Rey, hum jab bhi koi kaam karte the the only this we would discuss, was kya Sharon khush hogi, agar nahi hui toh humari shaamat hai'..
Both share a small laugh on this and continue eating'.. They just seemed too comfortable with each other'.. It didn't look like they were meeting after years'.. They spoke, they laughed and didn't realize that they were done with their lunch'..
Sharon (clearing up the table): So where are we going now?
Swayam (helping her): That is a surprise!
Sharon: But hello I'm not going with you like this (she said pointing out at his clothes) We'll first go to your place and you get yourself changed'..
Swayam: Your wis'. I mean ok cool let's go!
Sharon understood what he tried saying but didn't'.. She got herself changed into a nice dress that was not too formal and not too casual'.. Both headed to Swayam's place'.. The journey was pretty chatty'.. Both spoke about almost everything except for work'.. They were having a gala time'..
At Swayam's house'..
Both entered and Swayam asked Sharon to feel comfortable'.. She as it is was pretty welcomed there'.. She got herself seated on the sofa'.. There were 2 room diagonally opposite to the seating area'.. Swayam entered the one to his right'.. Sharon was confused but thought of asking him once he was back'.. After a few minute Swayam was out in his old look'. The same t-shirt- shirt combo, messy hair and not to forget the huge black digital watch around his wrist'. But this was a classy wear'.. Again not too formal or not to casual'.. She smiled looking at him'..
Swayam: Kya hua? Chale?
Sharon: Yeah! By the way I wanted to ask that (pointing out toward the room) yeh left wala room tumhara tha na?
Swayam (hesitantly): Haan'.. woh'.. yeh'. Aaa'.. Woh actually left wala room is now the storage room so I'm using the right one'.
Sharon: Oh ok!... So let's go then!
