CHAPTER THREE
She stood at the doorstep of the small room. Well not exactly small... but for someone like Sharon Rai Prakash such rooms were small. Two beds in one room closely packed to each other. A nice sofa pushed to one side next to which there was a center table and an information sheet.
Middle class hotels. Sharon thought. But unfortunately, she was left with no other choice.
"Do you expect me to get you here?" A voice broke her thoughts.
She looked at the source of voice. Swayam sat on the bed comfortably like a lazy person who was not ready to get up, whatsoever.
"You are wet and you are sitting on the bed. That's so stupid." She walked into the small room and looked at him.
"How do you even care? This is not your house or something like that." He was resting his hands on the bed.
"Yuk ! You are so disgusting."
"You are no one to comment on me." He got up and walked towards the washroom. "I guess I'll have a bath before you.. So that I don't catch cold."
"What? Why? Aren't ladies supposed to be first...and and..." She said gesturing through her hands, but too late. Swayam had already taken the towel and was going towards the bathroom, giving a damn about what she was saying.
Although Sharon didn't really mean it when she addressed him as disgusting, she found it horrible that someone so captivating could behave in such a stupid way. Yeah, she liked him the way he was and all but a wet person sitting on a bed irked her. He didn't, though. Not that day at least.
It had been the same for the past four years. She was kind of cordial with him, but never too formal. She talked to him, but had never conversed with him properly. And yeah, she had gotten quite used to the enmity, fake, from her side. She knew him well, but he, didn't know her, the real her.
She was sure of the fact that he thought of her as a glamorous, attitude queen, standing up for herself glam doll. On the contrary, she was exactly the opposite. She was glamorous, no one could deny it, but no one ever saw the soft girl behind all that make up.
She didn't have any expectations from him. She knew it was only a crush, but unfortunately for her, that crush started growing wilder and stronger. And always, she had shoved the thought off, thinking that destiny had some "plans" for her.
And well, going by his past records, he had that tendency to not fall for any random girl. Basically, he wasn't a Casanova. Only a cool dude, but extremely decent and straightforward. She liked him for the person he was, and not because his straightforward attitude mesmerized her.
Swayam was her first crush. And was always going to be one. She had a strong crush on Swayam.
She was smiling shamelessly and was lost in random thoughts- some related to Swayam and the others about the situation. She was stuck at one place with her crush and she had absolutely no idea about what was going to happen. It was just that, she didn't want to blush in front of him.
Stupid thought. She knew.
He came outside the bathroom, sooner than she had expected and saw her standing there like a dimwit, a smile playing on her face.
Swayam always thought she had a pretty smile. Although she had achieved a degree in irking him, he always thought that her smile was pretty. Only her smile was pretty, and unlike the others who went behind her seeking her attention, he was the one who didn't crave for her.
But yet again, she had a pretty smile.
What are you thinking about Swayam? He mentally face palmed and walked towards her.
Oh man. He looks so good in wet hair. Sharon literally drooled over him, right in front of him.
"Now you better go and have a bath. You'll catch a cold."
She was sure of the fact that he had caught her staring at him. Which was absolutely gross. But no, this wasn't the first time. She was caught by him staring at her, many a times, but being the guy he was, he never complained or said a word to her. Maybe, he liked the attention. Sharon hardly cared for his attention gaining syndrome. That was one thing she wanted to change about him. Well.
She was happy that he had started noticing her. Not prominently though. But she was happy that at least, he didn't want her to fall sick. She picked up an clean white towel and went to the bathroom.
Swayam looked at her retreating figure and wondered. She hadn't opened up to him about her feelings for him, ever.
Opening up, yeah. He was sly, he was a bad boy, all that he knew. He had once overheard Sharon telling Rey that she kind of liked him. In exact words. Obviously, it was a eureka moment for Swayam since that clearly explained her reason of behaving like an enemy with him. No, he didn't like fighting with her, and neither did he have a crush on her like she did. It was kinda awkward for Swayam to make that feeling sink in. Gradually, it sank. And unlike other people who avoided such situations, Swayam faced them. He didn't have a problem with the fact that she liked him. Neither did he think of himself as an over smart, cool college hunk. He wasn't. He was a bit open and friendly. Not someone who would avoid every second person who liked him. Nah.
He hadn't told Sharon that he knew about it. He wasn't going to, at all. He had decided to let everything go on, the way it was. That was better.
They had a travel bag with them thankfully, in which both of them were carrying extra clothes. Swayam had managed to contact Rey, who gave a genuine reason of the roads being blocked due to some kind of interrogation and rains. Swayam had no other option, but to tell Sharon that she had to spend more time with him.
"Are you hungry?" Swayam was sitting on the sofa switching channels.
"No." Sharon decided to give a straight answer. She was reading a book with her geeky reading glasses on. " And please lower the volume of this tv ! I'm reading a book." She faced him.
"I don't have a book.. So you have to bear with me, since you have no other option."
"Ugh you are disgusting!" She twisted her face.
"Normal people usually choose to say the same thing.. It's an indirect way of accepting defeat.." Swayam grinned.
Sharon looked questioningly at him.
"I'm not going to answer anything. For now, I'm hungry. I'm going to order something. Are you sure you won't have anything?"
"No." She shook his head and continued reading. He could get the best and the worst out of her.
