Chapter 9

The sun rose high up in the sky….. Swayam sat on the bench throughout the night with his guilt….. His face was tear stained and eyes red-swollen….. He was out of his trance when he heard his mobile ringing….. He checked the caller id…... it was his mother…… he picked up the call…..

Swayam: Ji maa!

Shweta: Swayam beta tum kahan ho? Mujhe laga raat main deri se ghar aaye par abhi tumhara karma dekh toh tum nahi the…..

Swayam: Maa main theek hoon! Thodi der main ghar aa raha hoon….. (thinking to himself) Bahut kuch theek karna hai aaj!

Shweta: Kya hua beta? Tum ne kuch kahan?

Swayam: Nahi maa main aa raha hoon……

Swayam quickly rushes home….. He gets ready and leaves to go to Sharon's place….. Just like before he planned to pick her up for the academy today….. He was hell nervous to face her…… His guilt was not giving him the courage to do so….. With great difficulty he stepped out of the car and rang the bell….. Rashmi opened the door and was delighted to see Swayam after such a long time….. She was about to welcome him for breakfast when he saw Sharon coming down….. Her face was pale….. the glow was missing….. Her eyes emotionless….. She looked at him there and was shocked…..

Sharon (shocked): Swayam? Tum? Yahan?

Swayam: Haan….. woh….. main….. woh office….. jaa raha tha….. toh…. Socha ke raaste main tumhe drop kar du!

Sharon: Nahi its ok! Tumhe shayad office ke liye late ho jayega!

Swayam felt as if someone had stabbed his heart hard….. those cold eyes….. and that reply…… felt more like a taunt to him…… but he deserved it…..

Swayam: Nahi….. Aisa nahi hai! Please chalo….. I'll drop you! Tum bahar aao main gaadi nikalta hoon!

He left without saying anything else…… Sharon had just nodded and followed him….. Rashmi who saw all of this was all the more confused….. She had already been facing hell lot of confusion due to Sharon and Swayam's changed behaviour…..

Swayam got the car and stopped right in front of Sharon….. She sat in and they drove off….. Everything was silent…… Sharon was used to it so she was just looking out of the window….. Swayam was stealing glances but everytime he saw her staring outside and her face emotionless….. He was already on a guilt trip and this awkwardness was just adding on to it….. He was bought out of his trance due to his phone that was continuously ringing….. He without checking the caller id picks up the phone…..

Swayam (irritated): Yes!

Sid: Sir, XXX clients had called, they want to know when you are free for a meeting!

Swayam: Not now Sid!

Sid: Sir but it's really very important!

Swayam (shouting): I told you not now! Don't you get such a simple thing!

Swayam angrily hung up…… Sharon was just looking at him startled…… Swayam suddenly getting mad was something strange…... She got worried….

Sharon (concern): Swayam are you? Is everything fine?

Swayam (controlling his anger, smiling at her): Yeah! I'm fine! Woh bas kaam ka tension!

Sharon (getting hyper): Kaun kehta hai tumhe itna kaam karne? Kyun karte ho itna kaam? Itne saare log hai tumhara kaam sambhalne ke liye phir bhi! Tum kabhi nahi sunte! Kabhi apna dhyaan nahi rakhte! Tumse kitni baar kahan hai, kaam utna hi karo jisse tumhari health affect na ho! Par nahi tumhe toh kaam ke siva kuch dikhata nahi, Na health aur na hi mai….. (When she realised she what she was about to say, she kept quiet and looked in the opposite direction)

Swayam was continuously smiling looking at her concern…. God! She loves him so much and cares a lot for him….. He was listening to her but when she said the last bit and stopped abruptly he looked at her….. He saw the pain escaping in the form of a tear down her cheek….. His heart broke into a million pieces….. Both were silent now….. They soon reach the academy and Sharon just rushed out as soon as the car stopped, trying to control her tears…… Swayam tried to stop her but she didn't wait a bit…..

He was standing right outside the academy for the past 4 hours….. Thinking of something he could do to get back Sharon and apologize to her….. Just then he called Rey….. They both spoke for a while and at the end of it Swayam was smiling like an idiot….. He hung up and continued waiting…..

Sharon was trying to keep herself busy in work, to distract her from everything that was happening in her life….. Suddenly she got a call from Rey….. He said that 'there was a big event coming up and the sponsors wanted to meet up soon, but he was busy with work….. So she should accompany Swayam as the meeting was on the outskirts of Mumbai and he had already informed Swayam….. And he will be there any minute'

As soon as Sharon hung up, she got a message from Swayam, 'I'm here….. Waiting for YOU' She read it and felt a bit weird but ignoring her thoughts she came out….. He was standing right there leaning over the bonnet and waiting for her to come….. He smiled to her as she came and sat in but this smile was different, she had seen it after a long time….. Automatically the tip of her lips curved into a crescent shape….. They soon left for the "meeting"…..

During the entire drive both were silent….. But this was different….. He was continuously smiling to himself and stealing glances every now and then….. Here she was hell confused as to what was wrong with him? Why was he suddenly smiling so much?... They soon reached….. The meeting went good and towards the end Swayam just excused himself and came back after a while….. Till the time they were done, it was pretty late…..

On the way back…..

Swayam: Shar…. Bahut late ho gaya hai toh agar tumhe koi problem na ho toh, we can go to the farmhouse and rest as woh raaste main hi hai…..

Sharon: Yeah, ok!

Swayam's smile widened….. They both headed to the farmhouse….. On the way they got some food packed…..

At the farmhouse…..

Swayam got their dinner laid while Sharon chose to freshen up….. Swayam finished his work and headed to the bedroom where Sharon was….. All the way he was trying to gather as much courage as possible….. When he heard the door open, he got down on both his knees and head hanging down….. Sharon came out and when she saw him like that she was shocked and walked up to him…..

Sharon (confused): Swayam….. Tum aise?

Swayam (with tears): I'm sorry Sharon! I know maine tumhe bahut hurt kiya, jab ki tumhari koi galti nahi thi….. Maine papa ka ghussa tum pe nikal diya….. I was wrong and I know sirf ek sorry se I can't mend for whatever I did….. Maine tumhe ignore kiya….. Khud se dur push kiya….. I was rude to you….. But you were always there for me….. I know we had promised each other that we'll never hide anything and I didn't keep up the promise….. I should have been there with you hamesha ki tarah but maine kaam ko tumse jyada importance diya….. (Looking up to her who also had tears flowing down her face) I'm sorry for whatever I did….. Main tumhe kabhi itna hurt nahi karna chahta tha….. I'm really very sorry Shar! Please forgive me!

When she saw tears in his eyes, she immediately bent down and cupped his face

Sharon (wiping his tears): shhh….. bas….. No tears!... Tumhe sorry bolne ki koi zarurat nahi hai….. You haven't hurt me…..

Swayam (cutting her): Yes I have! Nahi toh tumhari smile missing nahi hoti….. Tum itni sad nahi hoti…. Tum….

Sharon: Kisne kahan ke tumne mujhe hurt kiya iss liye main sad thi? (Swayam just looked at her all confused) I was sad because I couldn't see you go through so much pain….. And you haven't broken any promise….. I was waiting for you to come and open up to me when you are comfortable sharing it….. So stop feeling guilty and saying sorry to me!

He got up and pulled her into a hug feeling lucky to have her in his life….. She reciprocated feeling his love in his embracement after a long wait…..

Swayam: I love you Shar! I love you so much!

Sharon (creasing his back): I love you too baby!

Sharon suddenly realised something and broke the hug…..

Sharon (confused): On minute, toh yeh meeting and farmhouse sab tumhara plan tha?

Swayam suddenly had a mischievous glint in his eyes and a smile plastered on his face….. Sharon understood that she was right….. she playfully hit him chest…..

Sharon: Tum kabhi nahi sudhroge na?!

Swayam (pulling her back in to a hug): Sudharneka irada bhi nahi hai! And waise bhi tumhare saath time spend karne ke liye main kuch bhi kar sakta hoon….

Both had a small laugh on it and again nuzzled into each other….. They broke the hug after like ages…..

Sharon (pouting): Baby, I'm hungry!

Swayam without responding lifted her in his arms and took her to the dining area….. He let her on her feet and served some food in one plate and started feeding her….. She was loving it….. Felling his love and care….. After feeding each other they both got themselves seated in the garden…..
