Part 30
Virat and Maanvi finished clearing up for the night. Sorting not just the domestic aspect but also Laksh's things. Virat later found Maanvi falling asleep on the sofa as he headed started to head home. He watched over for a moment before deciding to join her on the couch. As he sat, he woke her up.
"Now that I've moved back we should discuss things," she propped herself up and somehow wished that Laksh would interrupt once again. However, there was a silence. She let him talk and talk himself in and out of different situations. Funnily enough, it amused her to watch him do that. Waving through his own choices without her saying anything. He left feeling confused, before telling her that he would be away for a week from tomorrow due to a work as she dozed off.

"Ouch,"
The doctor lifted up the ice pack to see Jeevika swollen wrist. They asked how it happened and Viren listened attentively as he wasn't present. Viren sat beside her and comforted her as they continued to examine her. They placed the ice pack down again and explained they would splint her wrist, as she had taken a nasty fall. Soon after, they ordered an ultrasound to check on the baby. Viren held Jeevika hand and they were ready to see their baby floating on the screen.
"Shall we find out exactly what we are having then," he whispered and kissed her lightly as they waited to see their child.
"Please I already know they're a football player. They keep me up half of the night," they giggled to find the doctor examining the screen. She cleared off the jelly, before moving the monitor away,
"What's the matter?" Viren stood up, but was still holding Jeevika's hand.
"I'm sorry but there is no heartbeat." Confused by the statement they clung to each other,
"No that can't be. They were kicking on the way here." She caressed her stomach knowing that her child was still there.
"I'm sorry. I'll give you some time but will need to talk about what happens next."
She left leaving Viren and Jeevika to reel in their loss. She rested her head onto Viren shoulder and he tried to comfort her but was still in a state of shock himself.
After some time the doctor returned. They looked up wiping their tears.
"I know this is difficult and hard to understand however,"
She explained that because Jeevika was so far along that she would have to be induce to give birth to their child.
"No." She sobbed into Viren arms at the thought of having to deliver their child knowing that they won't survive. He patted her hair and tried to calm her down. The doctor asked to speak to him outside. He wiped away her tears before placing his hand over his baby for the last time.
The doctor explained the risks and options that they had but Jeevika had to agree. Even though it is heartbreaking, there were are options.
"No they wrong, Viren. I won't do it. They're too little, we can't. I can feel them moving." She took his hand and placed it over her stomach so that he could feel it too. Without feeling anything, he removed it. Holding back his tears, he explained to Jeevika that their prince or princess has left them and that she had to do this. She can wait until she goes into labour (even though she is not due for another 4 weeks and this would have risks) or they could induce her labour. Jeevika had the space to choose but the longer she left it the more pain it would cause.
Viren stepped out as Jeevika's hand was treated. In that time, he called Maanvi up to break the news to her. He wanted to give her some space to try to absorb what that happened. As he re-entered the room he noted that Jeevika was lying on her side. He moved over and took her hands,
"I've been induced," she spoke softly.
"It can take hours to start, but they said I can stay here. Can you go home and get a few things,"
"I'll call Maanvi. She'll drop it by," he tightened his grip. She let go,
"She has Laksh and Virat is away. Can you go and get it, please," he reluctantly agreed and kissed her on the forehead before promising to be back soon.

Viren returned home to find it silent. He couldn't hear Laksh muttering away or even the sound of water dripping. Maanvi walked behind Viren but he was in a world of his own. He entered his room to uncover the box Jeevika had been collecting for the baby. Small things, little objects to build upon, until one day this box would become too small for its inhabitants. He pulled up the tiny socks - blue ones, red ones, yellow ones and the ones that looked liked little mini converses. He closed the box and hid it away in his cupboard before collecting the items that Jeevika had asked for.
Viren closed the door and paused before he found Maanvi in the passage with Laksh over her shoulder.
"Viren," she spoke as he went to leave.
"Laksh and I will go to Virat's for a few days. He's away till Friday but it will give you and Di some space," he started to move forward and kissed Laksh before leaving to get back to Jeevika.

On the other side, Jeevika plugged in her headphones and waited for her labour to start. She ignored the calls that came through. All she could think about where all those dreams that she and Viren had put together. She may not have been the most willing at the start but all she ever wanted was a healthy baby. Her contractions were still far apart but she wanted the nightmare to end, wake up and prayed that it was a bad dream but each time she opened her eyes, she found herself in the same place.
After hours of pain and pushing, they both cried at the birth of their first child. Covered in glop the doctor asked both Viren and Jeevika if they wanted to hold their baby. Walking up to the doctor, Viren took his little girl into his arms, brushed the few hairs on her head before giving her a light kiss on the forehead.
