Part 21

After an hour of cooling down and talking it over with Jeevika, Maanvi realised that she had overreacted with Virat. He only wanted to figure things out, but she flew off the handle. All she wanted to do was to go back to the start when things were easy or at least easier then it is now. No one said things would be easy but she never wanted it to be hard either.

She looked at the picture of the sonogram, which she had framed by her bed and placed her hand upon her womb. Buzz buzz

Virat looked down at his phone to see a message for Maanvi.

'Something you should see,'

Below her message, there was a picture. A small, fuzzy back and while image, which at first glance looked a bit strange to him. It wasn't until he saw the second message he realised what he was looking at.

'What do you hope they will be?'

Virat tenderly touched the screen of his phone and imagined if he was there for the first time. He tried to make out the visible parts of their body, but he didn't care. He could see his child and started to realised he will be a father. The joy he felt was indescribable, they had created life.

After a long time, things were finally settling down and tonight was the night that Jeevika and Maanvi were waiting for. The tickets Viren had brought were finally coming into use. After an hour or two of their leaving, there was a knock on the door. Viren expected it to be the Chinese takeaway he had ordered instead he found Virat. After inviting him in, Viren explained how Maanvi had gone out with Jeevika for the night to see the P!nk in concert. After his initial disappointment,

"How did you get tickets?" Questioned Virat, "And why didn't you go?" The door rang again and this time it was his dinner,

"Girls night out, it's good for both of them," Viren added SS finished paying the delivery man. He strolled to the kitchen and collected to plates and invited Virat to eat while the game was about to start.

Virat wanted to talk about him and Maanvi to Viren but he thought it might come across narcissistic. Instead he quietly ate some Chinese and watched as England tries to make their place in the World Cup.

Tucking into his dinner, "It's funny, this all started on my stag night. The night that suppose to end my bachelor days ended up prolonging them." Viren dropped his fork at the mention of that night and looked over to Virat as he started, "I mean I had my problems before that but that was the night it blew up. For all of us," Viren face started to go pale as he thought of that dreaded night. Stammering,

"All ... Of ... Us," he quickly tried to get some water, from the table in front, to easy his anxiety.

Virat looked over at Viren and understood his state. He knew everything that had happened that night, (even though he was inebriated himself.)

"I get it, you were drunk and then you drunk more to forget it and blur it into a haze. Honestly that night I wouldn't have noticed anything and I didn't," Viren stood to put his plate away. Virat continued on about how they both have done things but they not terrible, whereas Viren just wanted him to close his mouth.

After returning his plate and while Viren pretended to watch the game, "Thanks," Viren looked up at Viren a tad confused, from reminding him about that night to this, it all seemed odd. "I heard about what you said to Maanvi about telling me. Thanks, I'm sure she would have in the end. But still..." He patted him on the back, as he didn't know what else to do.

"It's not a problem. You should know and we all knew that. Even she did. But its just that guys don't really get thought about when this happens.

I mean, you're no longer in a relationship, but she is pregnant with your child. It doesn't mean a man doesn't have a right to know or at least be consulted. We get painted as the bad guys and often we haven't even a clue. I'm sure you're not the first and you won't be the last either."

For the next weeks, Maanvi and Virat tried to keep a civil relationship. She informed him if she had an appointment and he checked up on her on a regular basis. As far as their relationship was there were finding some common ground. Virat asked for her medical file so that he was fully aware of everything linked to his baby. He came across something he was unsure about but instead of asking her, he decided to Google it.

"Maanvi," he searched high and low for her, but forget she wasn't in, instead he found Jeevika. "What this risk factor? She's at risk of having gestational diabetes."

"It's under control. These we normal screens for all women who are carrying. There we always risks and there are others, but we just need to be aware. They will test her in a few weeks to find out." He left without saying a word as he knew it would be moot.

She continued to fold the towels before texting Maanvi to let her know. Casually walking past, Viren cuddled her from behind. He placed her hand around her stomach and rubbed it.

"What are you doing?" Jeevika questioned him as he seemed in a strange mood.

"I was just thinking about..."

Knowing where this is going she wanted to stop it but his broodiness was starting to come out. Something that was not often seen.

"Do you think we should?"

Jeevika dropped her towels and started at him for a moment, which kind of came him an answer,

"Really? Why not? You're great with them. I thought I'd be the one with issues not you."

"We've talked about this,"

"Causally, and I never thought you meant it. I mean you practically raised Maanvi you work with children so it's easy to assume..."

She started to walk out of the room, "Hey!" He followed her out.
