CHAPTER 2
"What!" Shakti cried out disbelievingly. She stared at her best friend, waiting for him to elaborate. "Tumhe kab pata chala?" "Saw her kissing Salman yesterday," Kunwar explained, briefly. "That Roadies guy?" Shakti asked. Kunwar nodded. "In my bedroom." Shakti shook her head in fury, unable to find suitable words to express her anger and disgust. Kunwar pasted a smile on his face, blinking back tears. "Chal forget it, let's change the topic. Tell me why have you come here. Kuch kaam tha kya?" She raised an eyebrow at him. "Hello Mr. Short-Time Memory Loss, you are the one who called me!" Kunwar tapped his chin thoughtfully. "No I didn't," he said, finally. Shakti glared at him angrily. "Yes you did!" "No I didn't Shaks!" Kunwar said, firmly. Shakti tossed a cushion at him in annoyance. "Yes you did Kunwar Amarjeet Singh!" Kunwar picked up a nearby cushion and tossed flung it at her. "No I didn't Shakti Mohan Sharma!" Without a further warning, Shakti pounced on top of him, hitting him playfully with the cushion. "You did, you did, you did!" Kunwar lost his balance, falling on the floor with Shakti on top of him. "Oh get up Shaks! Tu bahut bhaari ho gayi hain, you'll crush me!" Shakti laughed, continuing to punch him with the cushion. "I won't get up until you accept that you are the one who called me." "Arey par maine nahi bulaya toh kyun accept karu?" Kunwar protested, gasping for breath. "Then we'll stay like this forever!" Shakti declared, gleefully. "Tujhe poori zindagi mujhe aaise hi jhelna padega!" Kunwar wrapped his arm around her waist and rolled over her, holding her wrist with his hand. A triumphant grin spread over his face. "Woh toh main waise bhi jhelne waala hoon," he told her, winking.
There was a loud barking sound and ArSha were joined by Troy who was wagging his tail happily. Kunwar and Shakti laughed together. Shakti pushed Kunwar away gently and stood up, dusting her dress. She bent down to pat Troy who started licking her hand eagerly. "Chal ab mujhe ghar chod," Shakti told Kunwar, without even looking up at him. "Request kar rahi hain ya order chod rahi hain?" Kunwar asked, pretending to be angry. "Bata rahi hoon. Hak hain mera," Shakti replied, grinning. "Tu kaise aayi?" Kunwar asked, suspiciously. "Car se," Shakti answered. "Toh khud chali ja na!" Kunwar said, yawning. "Tune mujhe yahan bulaya hain! Tu mujhe chodega!" Shakti said in an authoritative tone. "Arey par maine tujhe nahi..." Kunwar began but sighed in defeat. He didn't want another pillow fight! "Chal theek hain! Keys de!" Shakti tossed the car keys at him, grinning victoriously. Kissing Troy goodbye, they walked out of the house.
"So what are you doing tomorrow morning?" Kunwar asked her, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel. Shakti opened her mouth eagerly but Kunwar interrupted her. "I know! I know! 12 baje tak Kumbhakaran ki tarah so rahi hogi!" "Oh hello! I get up at 6 am and take Frodo out for a walk at 7 am before my gymnastics class!" Shakti retorted. "Good! Toh main bhi kal Troy ko leke aa raha hoon!" Kunwar declared. "My shoot begins at 9 am tomorrow." Shakti muttered something under her breath which sounded a lot like 'uninvited guest.' Kunwar stared at the road ahead, fighting back a chuckle.
"By the way Shakti, why do you need gymnastics training?" he asked her. "Tere body mein waise bhi haddiya nahi!" He laughed at his own joke. "What is that supposed to mean?" Shakti asked, folding her hands across her chest. "It means you are super flexible!" he replied. Shakti shook his head, pretending to sound disappointed. "Tujhe toh dhang se compliment dena bhi nahi aata!" Kunwar stopped the car all of a sudden. "What happened?" Shakti asked in surprise. Kunwar indicated towards her house. "We reached Madame." "Itne jaldi?" Shakti asked in surprise. "Dekha mere saath rehkar time ka bhi pata nahi chalta!" Kunwar said with a charming smile. "Dekha mera jaadu!" "You mean tumhara mejic?" Shakti asked with a laugh. Kunwar smiled, recalling their old DID memories. He leaped out of the car gracefully and held the door open for her. "Chivalry is not dead Madame," he said with a bow. "Thank you driver," Shakti said, winking at him.
"See you tomorrow!" Shakti waved at him, turning to go. Kunwar caught hold of her wrist, spinning her around to face him. Shakti was startled on seeing the intensity burning in his eyes. "Thank you Shaks," he whispered, with sincerity clearly ringing in every word of his. "You've always been there for me. From the very first day we met. You've always supported me throughout my struggle. How can I ever repay you?" "You can repay me by ending this senti speech," Shakti answered, patiently. Kunwar laughed and pulled her into his arms. "Now that's more like my Kunwar," Shakti said proudly, returning the hug. She buried her head in the crook of his neck, closing her eyes peacefully.
