"The yellow one or the red one?"
"I don't understand why you are indulging in this suit business... you'll look good in everything Sharon."
They were video chatting with each other. It was 6.30 pm and Sharon had asked him to choose between two of her most prized possessions.
"No. What will your relatives think of me?"
"See, my aunt is judgmental but she isn't someone who will go on disparaging outfits.."
"But, your dadi?"
"Told you. She's very modern."
"Okay but I still wanna wear all this. You must not be knowing but I know.. first impression is the las impression..."
"Shut up Sharon.. I know about it.. Fine it's up to you. Wear whatever you like.. but don't ask me."
"Why are you getting angry?"
"I am not getting angry Sharon...It's just that you girls are too choosy when it comes to dressing.."
"You are getting angry now. I don't know what will happen ahead... you have to spend the rest of your life with me." She smirked.
Swayam's lips carved into a subtle smile.. One could hardly notice it. But sharon was there.. to pull his leg and to tease him.
"Are you blushing Mr. Shekhawat? Aww.. How cute.."
"Stop it Sharon." He said with the constant smile. "You have to be here by 7.30.. you know that.."
"Then tell me what I should wear?"
"Which one do you like?"
"Red one.. but you like yellow.."
"Doesn't matter.. Wear the red one if you like it."
"Swayam..."She said expectantly.
"Yes?"
"Are you angry?"
Swayam face palmed. "Just because I asked you to wear the one you liked doesn't mean that I'm angry sharon.. it's just that I want you to come early."
"Okay fine.. I will.. " She said.
"Swayam.." Someone called out to him from the door of his room.
Swayam was smiling at her.. He heard the voice and looked at the direction of that voice. His aunt was standing there with a different expression.. She looked less frightening that day.
"Your friend is going to come today right???" She said stressing the word friend.
Swayam nodded like an obedient child.
"Don't you think you need to clean up your room and get ready before she comes??"
Swayam sighed and bid a good bye to Sharon. Sharon, who was a little confused understood by his gesture that his aunt was somewhere around. He closed his laptop and got up.
Swayam's aunt gave him a look and went to the kitchen to complete her work.
It was 7.30. The house looked really beautiful and well set. Thanks to Swayam's aunt. She was a hypocrite but didn't lack in creativity. An extremely creative person but very sensitive about some issues.
Sharon rang the bell.. This was the first time she was going to meet a boy's relatives.. Her boyfriend's relatives.
Swayam opened the door and saw an angel... dressed in yellow.. His favorite color.. He passed a smile to her. She had finally done what he wanted. How sweet was that. How sweet was she..
"You wore yellow?" He whispered softly.
She smiled, more likely blushed and lightly nodded her head.
Swayam slowly giggled and invited her in.
"This is my family." He said, hoping to maintain a positive atmosphere throughout the night.
"This is my uncle and this is my aunt." He said indicating towards his uncle's and aunt's direction.
She joined her palms and payed a "namaste" to both of them... So not Sharon Rai Prakash style. Even Swayam was stunned when he saw her doing that..
His aunt, although not very happy with her coming, was genuinely impressed with this act of hers..
"This is my cousin." He said pointing towards his cousin."
She waved out to him and he did the same.
"And this.. is my dadi..." He said.. He had a broad smile on his face.
She went towards his dadi and touched her feet. His dadi was way too impressed for words.
"Aashirwaad hai mera.." His grandmother said and smiled at her.
On the other hand, Swayam couldn't take his eyes off her. She was looking breathtakingly gorgeous.
"It's funny.." he thought.. "how can someone look so stunning yet so simple at the same time?"
She turned to look at Swayam who couldn't take his eyes off her... She was trying so hard to control the color of her cheeks... but hard luck.. they turned a slight shade of pink.
She gave him a "stop glaring at me that way otherwise you'll be dead" look.
"How's the food Sharon?"Sharon's dadi asked her at the dinner table.
"Nice food dadi. Swayam has told me about the awesome food you make."
"Actually I made this." Swayam's aunt barged in their conversation.
"Yes.. I was going to say the same . She made it." Swayam's grandmother said sweetly.
"Oh.. The food is really nice aunty." Sharon said.
Swayam's aunt passed Sharon what she thought to be a fake smile.. More like a forced one.
"What does your father do Sharon?" Swayam's uncle asked after sometime. His aunt was clearly not interested in talking to her. Going by her appearance, his aunt thought that she was a normal girl from a middle class family whose main intention was to study, graduate and start earning.
"Oh.. Rai Prakash group of industries.. I guess you have heard about it.. My dad is the owner of the same."
Swayam's aunt was actually shocked.. She wasn't expecting Sharon to be from such a rich household.
"So you must be going to page 3 parties too na?" She chirped in.
Sharon was a bit taken aback at her words. "Yes I do. Sometimes."
"Have you seen any celebrities?"
"A few of them.. yes I have.." She smiled.
Swayam had a brief eye contact with his grandmother and he could make out that his grandmother was equally pissed off at his aunt. What a hypocrite she was.
Swayam gave a light nudge to Sharon which was enough for her to note that the conversation was going a bit too out of the way.
"I got to go. Getting late.. And college is also there na tomorrow."
"Sure dear." Swayam's aunt said pouring some more sweetness on her. "Please come more often."
"Yeah sure." She smiled and got up.
"Good night Mr.Shekhawat.Had a nice time at your place. "She said leaving his house. He had come outside to drop her, (not exactly.. he wanted to spend some time with her).
"Leaving so early?" He smirked.
"Yup. I have to attend college tomorrow.."
His face turned gloomy. He was reminded of Rey,again.
"Swayam, stop it now. I told you na give Rey some time."
"How much time should I give him Sharon?? He isn't getting normal."
"Trust me.. He will.." She said reassuringly.
"I don't think so Sharon.."
Sharon sighed. She couldn't see Swayam in such a bad state.
"I am not waiting here to see you cribbing about Rey."
"I am not cribbing."
"Shall I go? If you aren't interested in talking about US?" She said stressing the word us.
"What do you want me to do..?" He asked naughtily...taking small steps towards her...
She retreated...a smile constant on her face..
"You didn't say.. what do you want me to do?"
A point came when she stopped retreating and didn't flinch a bit.
Their faces were inches apart. He decreased the distance between them.. millimeters apart now.. Her breath started getting heavy. She could inhale his intoxicating scent..
"You are looking gorgeous." He whispered to her.
Her cheeks turned a bright shade of pink.
"I have to go.." She said.
"I won't leave you this time." He said, still close to her... not wanting to go back..He kissed her left cheek, then right one, he kissed her forehead and then slowly went downwards.. and gave a short peck on her lips. It was so short that she didn't even get enough time to respond.
"Good night Sharon.." He said and turned to go.
"Don't want me to kiss you?"
"What are you talking about?" He said teasingly.
"About this." Before he could even react, she gave him a goodnight kiss.
