Here is the interpretation to Section 2 of Part 23.
The setting of the next photograph was that of an old haveli, with spacious rooms, filled with antique furniture and furnishings and the rich drapes of classic era. Ganesh had fully utilized the background to bring in sharp contrasts and thereby focus all eyes on the pair. The background was given a softened effect by sepia touch, whereas the foreground was highlighted by sharp , bright lights illuminating the pair of lovers, in sharp contrast. The golden haze of the background highlighted the pair and contributed to the air of mystery surrounding them.
Khushi was walking down the flight of steps. She was dressed in a diaphanous white lehenga, embellished with pearls and crystals and antique gold thread work. The lehenga had tapered from white to pink to red at the edge making it look as though it was a waterfall cascading down to the coloured lit lights. The border emphasized the white of the lehenga. The short choli hugged her willowy frame accentuating her curves. Her white diaphanous dupatta, was draped on one shoulder and the ends were trailing over the ground. Her silky tresses had been left open to flow down to her back and a few strands were over the other shoulder. Her neck and arms were bare without any adornment. The whole set up made her look dainty and delicate a picture of owner's pride and neighbours envy.
Arnav in a dark brown sherwani, embroidered along the cuffs, collar, arms and the button line with turquoise stones, giving it a regal look that brought his caramel eyes into spotlight, stood waiting for her at the foot of the stairs, looking up at her as though she was a celestial nymph descending from the skies. His right hand was raised towards her with open palm seeking her to place her dainty soft hands in his, to trust herself in his safe keeping. His stance, the outstretched arm, the eagerness and the glow in his eyes with his need for her in full display, along with the anticipation and the joy on the lean lines of his face added to the surrounding magic. Khushi looked like a white jasmine, delicate, dainty, light giving her an ethereal quality, the stuff that dreams are made of. It looks as though she would vanish with a puff of air. A gentle breeze had her lehenga hug her legs and was making her long hair, voluminous behind her like a dark cloud. Her expressive eyes looked happy, almost eager and desirous to join her lover. Anjali drew in a breath. She was wonderstuck at the beauty of the picture. It was a picture perfect moment. It looked as though a moment in the lives of her Chotey and Khushiji had been captured for eternity by the photographer.
Anamika looked around and found all the family members looking at the photos with rapt attention and engrossed in admiring the beauty of it. Moved by the emotions depicted in the photograph, Mami told her mother-in 'law, wiping away her tears that, it would be better to get them married soon. Why should they wait for another four months. Her Arnav Bitwa would become a stone just waiting for her. Anamika hid her smile. She was glad that Ganesh had been successful in his attempt to bring out the passion and the chemistry between ASR and Khushi. Her aim, to get people to know about their love had found its mark. The picture was literally jumping off the paper and making the reader sit upright and take note of it. It was oozing with passion that was ready to knock the eyes of any witch who even got a glimpse of the pictures. It was pristine love that could bring mighty ASR to his knees, a man who had scorned at love.
With a sigh of relief, she realized that she had got it done the very thing what she had set to do. As usual, Ganesh had picked up the nuances that she was unable to explain in words. His brilliant photographic skills, her clothes, Khushi's simplicity, ASR's love for Khushi had built the armour for Khushi against the society cats who usually purr and scratch, and ASR's ex-girlfriends and models who were still purring at him.
This update is about such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe. It is SUBLIME.
The second photograph was set in such excellence, grandeur and beauty it had a dreamlike quality. Ganesh had softened the background to effectively make the pair rise above it and their emotions were captured making them a perfect couple. They were an epitome of love and the look they gave each other complemented and completed. It was a photograph that showed the exalted state of their love resplendent with eagerness, want, pleasure and the joy of anticipation, giving it an aura of mystique.
It was sublime in nature.
"Whereas the beautiful is limited, the sublime is limitless, so that the mind in the presence of the sublime, attempting to imagine what it cannot, has pain in the failure but pleasure in contemplating the immensity of the attempt"
~ Immanuel Kant, Critique of Pure Reason
The members of the family who saw those pictures felt wonderstruck at the beauty of the photographs and were moved to tears to see the love emanating from their eyes. It made Mami comment to prepone their wedding or else her nephew would turn into a stone just waiting for Khushi to come to him. That was a perfect response that Anamika was seeking. She had wanted all the others to feel the same way and Ganesh was successful in capturing the essence. This was a move to counter Lisa and her wrath when she turns into a virago.
"You listen first with the ears; then, you wait and listen for what your heart feels: then, you consider what they've said; then, you reply"
~ John Geddes, A Familiar Rain
It was the armour that Anamika wanted to be in place when Lisa and others of her ilk try to take pot shot at Khushi so that their shots get boomeranged. That was a splendid move in Khushi's defense.
"Nature always wears the colour of the spirit"
Hence its SUBLIME.
That's it from me. Hope you enjoy it.
