Loved the notion of Arnab being drawn to Gandhi's views and going against everything his father stands for… his hear is in the right place, beating as it does for the less fortunate of his tenants… nice to see him wanting to make something of his life rather than just siphoning money from the farmers! The way you described the atmosphere of the house, reminded me of Guru Dutt's 'Sahib, Bibi aur Ghulam' and Satyajit Ray's 'Charulata', etc. Your descriptions are vivid enough to transport us to the Calcutta of those times! Loved Arnab's grandma calling her own son foolish! Why he ended up married was pretty interesting… that concept of the child bride brought back memories of the Sachin-starrer 'Balika Badhu', a beautiful film of the developing relationship… Arnav's displeasure is understandable as, at twelve, Khushi is too young to share his interests… they have a long road ahead of them if they are to build a relationship of mutual understanding, support and love… Nani's frankness putting Arnab to the blush was adorable! It was a doll, Arnab noted with a sudden pang... despite everything, Arnab feels for Khushi… not only is the poor girl drenched but she is among strangers… Khushi clutching desperately on to her doll is a poignant reminder that she's still a child who has to cope not only with the loss of her own family but also with her new surroundings and husband… can't wait to see the gradual friendship growing between Khushi and Arnab and their realisation of what a marriage entails!

loved the first chapter! it was very beautifully written and very explicit in details!

OMG 13 years! its a huge gap between arnab and khushi! but love knows no age and no boundaries!

loving this arnab who despite being at such a young age, has the determination to do something for the welfare of his country!

poor him, he lost his wife at a very young age and now he is married with a girl who is a child! that must be so difficult for him!

cant wait to read more of this! n this bengali atmosphere is just awesome and a super nice change

A wonderful start Jenny, I am truly speechless after reading the opening chapter of this amazing story... am blown away by the lovely narrative that i just read...arnab and khushi thirteen yrs that's a big age gap... but at the same time i guess that was how things worked at that time... and khushi is already at his doorstep sooner than expected...and the groom himself did not welcoming her arrival coz she is just a child bride clutching a doll in her hands...
wonder what would happen next... plz continue soon

Being a Bengali you have instantly stuck a very very sensitive chord in my heart just by spelling "Arnab"..I just love the bengali pronunciation of it ...

Coming from a family that has deep rooted connection with the zamindars of bengal I could almost see your words..your Arnab reminded me of the story of my great grandfather who got married at the age of 21 to a 11 year old bride. I have heard so many stories about their blooming romance from my grandmother that could even put modern love stories into shame...I could see my grandfather in your Arnab who became actively involved in the freedom fighting and instead of going to UK for his further studies he became a staunch follower of Mahatma.

Eagerly looking forward to see the story progress amidst the clash of ideologies , difference of attitudes towards life and the healing touch of a little angel that will soon overpower Arnab's life.

Bhishon bhalo laglo (I simply loved it)
