PART 12

One week later

Ashok and Payal frequented their meets at the caf, restaurants, temples, even Raizada Mansion after office hours which became an abode for their budding relationship..Anjalio became a catalyst in their relationship making herself proud of the Service she renders for her brothers and his friends. Initally Payal was stern in her tough approach which made Ashok presume her to be a hard steel to bend but as time passed by she became more subtle started joking around with him. She was attracted by his wits and cool personality which was a total contradiction to her beliefs. Falling for a person who is totally contrast to your ideals was very much surprising but Ashok had the knack of making her smile each and every time they met.. One week was might appear too less to decide about the future when you think about the practical side of relationships but Payal decided to give up her stubbornness giving a chance for her fate to decide..

Restaurant:

Payal : Ashok, whats your plan ?

Ashok : Go back home eat and sleep.

Payal : Not that Dumbo.. I mean your settlement. .

Ashok : Im not that old to settle.. I cant waste my youth sitting infront of those stupid laptops and typing vigorously along with the talking over the bluetooth as though we are in a mission to save the world.. That can match only Arnav.. I m fun loving free bird enjoying the riches and fortune my father makes overseas..He earns so much that there should be someone to spend it to maintain the equilibrium.

Payal : Ashok.. Sorry to involve in but I think its high time you start concentrating on business but first talk to your parents. Wont they be worried ? You should be committed to your life. Atleast when I present our relationship before my parents I want them to get impressed by you in every way..

Ashok :That's right but doesn't mean''( realising what she said) Wait .. what did you say?

Payal showed the signs of getting shy which made Ashok pop out his eyes and the slow circles drawn on the plate by her fork with utmost concentration blew him up..

Ashok : Payal.. you mean.. I 'cant believe this..

Payal : Yes Ashok.. I have thought much..If you still hold the proposal in place that you had rehearsed for me last week I would like to give my reply.

Akash couldn't believe his ears.. He was happy beyond words.. Ashok started animatedly searching for some flowers nearby .Payal was amazed to see him going behind the bushes and roaming the whole restaurant searching something.. He disturbed even one of the couples who were immersed in their eye locks over a cup of "hot turned cold" coffee.

Payal : what are you doing Ashok?

Ashok : searching for flowers to propose you! Damn I didn't expect that you would change your mind all of a sudden.. I doubted my own skill ! Unbelievable..

Payal (laughing hard ): Ashok will u stop it? I don't need the dramatic kind of flower and ring wala proposal going on your knees.. Even if you don't ask me my answer is a YES.. But its your duty to convince my parents.. I cant override their choices or wishes..

Ashok couldn't control his delight' He perfunctorily hugged her with might to show his happiness. Payal was stunned for a bit..Ashok realising his sin of hugging her which might lead to terrible consequences broke the hug and pouted his face saying a sorry.. He even thought she might take back her yes and throw him in the near dustbin for showing this much desperation.. The reaction was rather opposite.. She showed a fake anger and hugged him smiling at his pout face..

Ashok : Payal.. I have to go to the doctor now..

Payal : Why what happened?

Ashok : IncreasingPalpitation, over stress, sweating. I think it's a symptom for a heart attack See my heart is beating faster too.

Payal : Shut up Ashok...

Payal hit his chest lightly for his crazy antics.. They continued their meeting on planning how to take this forward and how to convince families.. He dropped her near the end of the street to get down. Before getting down he held her wrists and looked at her eyes. She looked at him with questioning eyes.

Ashok : Payal.. I may seem crazy to you.. All I want to see is the smile in your face.. Don't agree to this only because I was behind you for this proposal.. Just think and decide.

Payal (smiled ): All I can say is I have decided that you are the perfect one whom I can spend my life with..

Ashok : Thanks.. I will surely keep my word.. You take care. I will call my parents and inform u about their arrival.

Payal : Ashok.. erm.. I.

Ashok : What happened Payal ? Anything else?

Payal couldn't control her blushes. She opened the door and again turned back to face him.

Payal : I love you..I will wait for your call..

She ran out of the car leaving behind a stunned Ashok whose jaws stuck in the middle not able to close out of shocking surprise.

Khushi had prepared the whole report in Lavanya's absence.She was verifying the final draft of the report. As usual as it occurs her mobile rang.. She didn't check the caller and attended..

Arnav : hey Jalebi.. Very busy ?

Khushi (smiling) : Yes Ladoo.. very much.. La is off today.. Im taking her part of work too..

Arnav : Why ?Aman is off too.. These two must have gone for some trip..

Khushi : Let them enjoy.. Atleast not like us.. You don't take me out now a days like before.

Arnav : Hectic schedule Khushi.. I promise you for a trip to Agra this time when Im back.

Khushi :Wow then I have to seek permission from amma now itself.

Arnav : So..what's happening there ? Ashok called me. He was so happy about his love success. Im really happy for PJ.Happy for us too.

Khushi : For us? But why?

Khushi then understood that he was talking about their marriage. She blushed at the thought of it.

Arnav : So get ready Khushi.. As I said in the airport we have to get married soon.

Khushi : ah.. So much confidence on your friend that he can convince my parents.

Arnav: Im not worried about uncle obviously. But' Anyways he is coming with his parents so I hope your mother wont find any other excuses to dislike him.

Khushi : ASR'She likes you too.. Its jus that she is irritated because of Jiji's marriage getting postponed. Don't take anything serious.

Arnav : I don't care Khushi'I don't give any attention to what both the families talk about me.. You are mine and you will be mine.. No one can deny that.

Khushi : Ok.. Baba.. I agree..

Arnav : What was that you were trying to ask me that day? Im sure it wouldn't be a bone breaking hug!

Khushi was startled.. How could he remember and watch all her actions so intricately?

Khushi : Uh.. nothing. I will tell u once u come back.. But promise me you wont deny.

Arnav :Depends on what you ask for.. but if you are asking for a bone breaking hug Im ready to give more than that..

Khushi : Ladoo'you have started twisting my words now a days..hmm.. I will see you when you are here.

Arnav : Fine then..take care of yourself don't make it late.. Its not safe now a days..You better leave early. If you want I can arrange a car to pick you up..

Khushi : No worries. I can manage.. You take care of yourself..

Arnav :Enjoy your days with Adi till I come back. After Im there its my turn.

Khushi : Posessive kahin ke.. How can you fight with small babies?

Arnav : That's because its all about you.. I don't mind fighting with my duplicate.Tell him Im bringing his favorite video game.. He would be happy. Take care. Bye sweety.

Khushi :Take care you too.. Bye.

Khushi heaved a sigh of relief after talking to ASR.. Nothing can be right for her unless she talks to him. She continued her verfication of report and presented to her colleague while Natasha came in informing that the director was calling her.

Khushi was stunned to find Avinash on the cabin with the director. She knew Avinash was his good friend.As a channel shareholder he used to visit them often. She wished both of them and sat near Avinash who looked at her affectionately.

Avinash : Khushi beta.. were you busy ?

Khushi : No uncle... I was just finishing my work.

Director : Do you know why you have been called here Khushi ?

Khushi : No sir. I dont have any idea..

Director : You must be aware of Rhea's resignation.. Now it has come to a point where we have come a point that we dont have anyone to replace her for our interview tomorrow. As a matter of fact Avinash suggested your name as you were interested in anchoring before.. I want to give that priority to you and want you to prove your talent in it.

Khushi was shellshocked. Never in her dreams did she expect she would be called in directly for the post.. She knew from Lavanya that they have her name in the priority list but never expected it all of a sudden. She had already been offered this once by one of her superiors 2 years earlier. Her parents and family members were all interested in her taking up this job but the only person who was a hindrance was her ASR.. His words ringed her mind again..

"Khushi dont even think of taking up this job.Even if you consider me as a sadist I dont care..I would never like you to be a show piece infront of the public."

Every time when she takes up the topic it would end in a fight raising his anger more. After that she stopped talking about the matter which bothers him .

Khushi started fiddling her duppata in nervousness. She knew Arnav would be dead against her wish this time.. She was very passionate till the day he rejected her wish. There was nothing beyond his words that would be her decision. She knew how to reject the proposal especially when Avinash had suggested her name she had to divert it with some other reason.

Khushi : No sir.. I dont think I wont be able to do it.. I lack the confidence in me Sir.

Director : Come on Khushi .. We have confidence in you.. Thats enough.. I have seen your small mock interviews during the training session. Dont try to demotivate yourself..

Khushi : But.. that was 3 years back sir..

Avinash : Khushi beta, are you bothered about Chotte ?

Khushi dropped her head down which could easily comprehend that she was indeed afraid of the mighty ASR's reactions.

Avinash holding her hand : Beta.. Give a thought about your pursuits.. You have been expecting such a chance before.. When you get the chance just grab it.. Chotte loves you Khushi beta.. He would never come in between your dreams.. May be he might not agree initially but will surely agree if it is for you..I will talk to him.. Never let go off this beta.

Khushi : Can I just call him and ask him uncle ?

Khushi instantly called Arnav to know his opinion. Arnav had switched off his phone as he was in a important meeting. Khushi's incessant calls made her desperate..She tried to call the hotel number where he was staying but the hotel people had no idea where his meeting was. She tried all possible ways to contact him but in vain..

Director : Look Khushi.. we are really in trouble now.. Rhea had suddenly drawn back from tomorrow's talk show which was against her clause of resignation. We are dealing with her legally for terminating the clauses.Meanwhile we tried to negotiate others too but considering your talent and proficiency we are terribly in need of your help. I hope you understand.

Khushi started sweating out of nervousness. She could never do anything that was against Arnav.. At this time of emergency she could understand the difficulty in hiring a new anchor and train her. No experienced anchors or hosts would agree in such a short notice.But what has she got experienced from? Just as a trainer where she had conducted some interviews?

Director : Now what Khushi? I have decided now you are going to take up Rhea's post..

Khushi : But sir.. I need to think of it again.

Avinash : Khushi beta.. I know you are worried about Arnav.. Don't worry I will convince him.. You carry on! this is a golden opportunity..

Director : So.. its decided tomorrow it will be Ms.Khushi Gupta interviewing the great writer cum social revolutionist Shreyas Gandhi in our Talk show.

Garima and Sashi was really happy hearing the news. It was a promotion for her that too she is gonna interview a celebrity.. That was more of an overwhelming excitement in her family. Garima started informing her relatives about the live interview her daughter is going to conduct the next day, Sashi was on call with his colleagues, Payal got the good opportunity to have a good chat with Ashok.

Khushi was sitting on a corner trying to dial Arnav in her best possible way.. His phone is still switched off. She started getting desperate about his whereabouts. He never shuts down his phone unless it was very critical. He would have left a message in his office at least. He didnt even bother to send a message to anyone atleast to Khushi. The tension of whats going to happen if he finds about how she had overtaken his orders, the tension of how she is going to interview such a famous personality was killing her to the core. She sought her only solace Devimayya. Her worry about Arnav also increased with these tensions. She prayed whole heartedly to forgive her if she had done anything against him. His insecurity and fear of losing her which makes him mad started to haunt her..

Next day

Vision TV was looking forward for this much awaited talk show.. It was a Sunday the main attraction of the show was Rhea. Employees of the channel were skeptical about Khushi doing it because they haven't seen Khushi's smartness and spontaneity as Rhea.. Some one to replace Rhea in the channel would be so tough that too a girl like Khushi would be difficult they thought. Rhea had a charm which usually attracted everyone.She had an excellent flair for interviewing. Khushi replacing her was something that all couldnt comprehend. They couldnt digest the fact that Khushi in her salwar and spectacles who looked like a simple girl could carry out such a hefty task. They even formed groups discussing the high support she had from the director of the channel. All of them started worrying about the reputation of their channel. Thats when the lady in the attraction entered the cabin.

She was wearing a Black formal skirt which was long enough to cover her legs below knees, A white formal Shirt tucked in and a waist length formal Suit over. Holding a File in her hand leaving her hair open , presenting herself in a complete formal attire for the first time she entered her cabin only to shock her colleagues...Flabbergasted colleagues as we can describe about them when they saw Khushi in a formal attire. Most of the guys who used to consider her like a behen forgot her fiance's name for a while started gaping her like a hot shot model. She was no less than Rhea. Infact more beautiful and etheral than Rhea.. She carried that natural beauty which could attract even the counterparts. Her confidence and boldness was another attribute. Lavanya who forgot to blink her eyes for a while came and stood infront of her giving her a tight hug and warding off the evils.

Lavanya : Baby.. You look gorgeous.. I cant express in words. But something is bothering..

Khushi : What ? Dont scare me.. I thought I was ok when I left the green room.

Lavanya removed her glasses and made her look into the mirror..

Lavanya : Now its Perfect.. That spectacles hid your real beauty.. Let the beauty of my angel be appreciated by the whole world.. All these days you had hidden your beauty inside this worthless spectacles. Now wear this lens.. Let me put some slight lip gloss too..Rest is fine.

Khushi felt bad when Lavanya kept aside that spectacles.. It was Arnav's favourite. He had specially bought for her after so much selection. She couldn't deny that her ASR wanted her beauty to be possessed by him by not letting her wear the lens..She tried to convince La but she was not in a position to listen. Finally she had to give up but she made sure that she would safeguard her spectacle which was his gift.

Khushi had spent the whole night studying on the celebrity. His accomplishments as an author his role as an activist in the society.He was a much respected personality who devoted much of his time to volunteer campaigns against female foeticide and female abuse prelevant in the society. Khushi had always wished to meet him in person.She even had made a report earlier on this subject and was deeply moved by his speech in a campaign. As a blessing in disguise she is going to interview him..

Khushi for the final time entered into the washroom in the pretext of shoving off her nervousness as she is facing the camera for the first time.Khushi tried his call for the one last time to check his availability.To her utter dismay his phone was switched off which made her worry more.. Her heart began to beat faster and she had only option to pray to her Devimayya to make everything alright. She wanted Arnav to be safe and sound. She is ready to face his wrath once he is back. She looked at her mobile screen which had a pic of her ASR smiling. A rare pic which no one could click.. He would never pose for anyone in this world except his Khushi. She smiled at his cute smiling pic and kissed it posessively.

Khushi : Sorry ASR.. Come back soon. Im ready to accept any punishment.

She held her mobile near her heart for a few seconds and closed her eyes. Time was running up and she had to move towards the newsroom to occupy the place for casters and anchors.She welcomed MR.Shreyas Gandhi. A man in his early 40s shook hands with her and they moved to their places to start the interview.

Countdown started. Khushi closed her eyes with her ASR in her mind and opened with a doubled confidence. His face was enough for the energy and motivation she needed. The interview started.. Khushi gave an awesome introduction of Shreyas Gandhi. Her looks towards the camera were very confident and bold.. She herself didn't know where she got the confidence from.

The interview started off with her questions on Mr.Shreyas quest for writing novels. He got impressed by the fact that Khushi had a very good knowledge of his books and the writings.The very intricate detail of his novels were too put forth in her questions which no one ever expected from Khushi.. He started to talk about his motto of the campaign against female foeticide. Khushi questioned about the minute statastics of the remote villages where the female foeticide was still prevalent. The talk then focussed on the recent happenings in Delhi the failure of the authorities to take proper actions against the accused.. She appreciated his campaign and also hinting at the fact that the awareness among the public who were under a panicking situation due to these happenings. For a minute she got carried away becoming a bit emotional while talking about the victims. At the end her insistence on the increase in severity of punishments and they way she perceived the whole situation appalled the guest.

Sashi had tears in his eyes when he saw his daughter outshining on the TV screen. It felt as if she was enveloped into a cage and now as a freebird she was flying with colours. Garima felt proud as she was talking among the neighbours who had visited their house to watch the interview together. Payal was moved by her enormous confidence.. She felt Khushi truly had her bhai's influence in courage which she had been hiding all these days. Arnav's family on the other hand were over excited about Khushi's new acheivement. They were sure she would reach great heights in her career. Sheetal was the only one who was not interested while the family had no enough words in praising her talents.

After the interview the guest Mr.Shreyas clapped for Khushi. Khushi got goose bumps when she heard a round of applause from her whole team including her director who was present there. Mr.Shreyas gave her a handshake and praised her for having such high talent at this young age. She smiled but her nervouseness was clearly evident with a shiver in her hand. She took Mr.Shreyas blessings as he was about to leave. He blessed for a bright future and success. All her colleagues including Lavanya rushed to wish her. She was wrapped with congratulatory wishes and praises. She felt herself on the top of the world. Her worldly smile was worth watching..

He was no less than a beast. The accelerator would have cried if it had a mouth. He trampled the accelerator with such a force with utmost resentment. He didn't care about the vehicles from the opposite side.. All he was focused was on his path to reach her place.. to meet her to drag her to question her.. The answers to which she was bound to answer ONLY TO HIM..

Happy for khushi, she surely deserves happiness in career prospective too but I am scared for Arnav's outburst, he will be very angry and khushi being khushi will burnt the consequences. Fantastic update, looking forward for the next update...
