Chapter 17 : Of Masquerade Balls & Confessions...
It was finally the most awaited night of the year; everybody was shaping up for the most exciting event yet. Finding dates, dresses and shoes were on the lists of the most annoying things to do. It was Prom!
The crisp, chilly air of the month of October had people cuddling into their cozy jackets. Tasting the fresh air and running through the droplets of rain, Khushi let herself get lost in the cold, October air.
Twirling around in an over sized t shirt and jeans, she shrieked with delight at the first touch of rain on her skin. She didn't realize the amused stare she got from a certain guy standing across her.
Arnav had just finished his basketball practices when he walked out of the locker rooms to find his munchkin playing in the rain. Chuckling at the weird being in front of him, he grabbed his jacket and ran out to her.
Khushi didn't realize when Arnav had walked up behind her and pulled the hoodie over her. Gasping, she turned around only to crash into his hard chest. Chuckling slightly, he looked at her adorable button nose and placed an effortless peck on it. Her body was so attuned to his that her face automatically turned a deep shade of red.
Feeling the familiar set of hands rubbing her back to warm her, she opened her eyes slowly and looked into those molten brown orbs gazing lovingly at her.
Khushi smiled broadly and hugged herself more into his embrace. She pulled back slightly and placed a firm kiss on his stubbled cheek.
Jay and Kabir had walked out just then and spotted the love struck couple in front of them. Clearing their throats violently, Jay yelled "Oh no! Not again guys!!! Why don't you two just lock yourselves into a room and not come out until you're satisfied eh?"
Earning a slap from the little pixie next to him, Tanya groaned at her boyfriend and said "You're so boring Jay! Instead of making fun of them, you should learn from Arnav! He's such a perfect boyfriend and look at you!"
Arnav burst out into laughter and slapped Jay on the back and told him not to mess with him. Walking away with the boys, Arnav placed one last kiss on Khushi's cheek and turned around to join the boys.
Tanya hugged Khushi tightly and said "Times up K! Let's go…Misha said she will meet us at the mall!"
The girls had planned a surprise for their boys for tonight. They agreed that they deserved something special so they all decided to meet up at the mall for a day of shopping and grooming before the night.
6:30 pm – Gupta House.
Khushi was sitting in front of her mirror applying her makeup. She was wearing a stunning red mini dress with silver high heels. Leaving her hair out, she applied very simple yet elegant makeup. Strapping on her shoes, she heard the door bell.

Smiling at who it was, Buaji went to open the door only to see Arnav standing out in a classy designer black tux. Nodding warmly at him, she yelled out for Khushi.
Glancing at herself one last time, she drew in a deep breath and walked out.
Arnav's jaw dropped open at the beauty coming to him. She was stunning! Her long brown hair resting by her side, her long lashes enhancing her beautiful brown orbs. The bright red of her dress complementing her smooth, porcelain skin. She was indeed a stunner!
Smiling widely at Arnav's shocked face; she looked at him mischievously and placed her hand under his chin, closing the gap. Smirking, Arnav pulled out the white and red corsage and tied it around her hand. Smiling down at the beautiful flowers, she looked at him while he held out his arm.
Placing her hand into the crook of his arm, they posed for a few pictures taken by their family and headed off to Arnav's car.
Helping her get into the passenger seat, he walked over and got in to the Driver's side. Driving off from her house, he pulled into a narrow lane and parked the car roughly. Placing his lips onto hers, they kissed passionately after Khushi got over the initial shock.
Breaking apart for oxygen, Arnav looked at Khushi's dark, hooded eyes and smirked teasingly. "Beautiful…!" he said, while tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
Blushing profusely, Khushi looked at him and said "You look very handsome too, Arnav!"
Placing a soft kiss on her cheek, he nodded and whispered "Why, thank you very much sweetheart!"
Getting down from the car, Arnav clutched Khushi's hand tightly and walked into the large hall. Placing their masks over their eyes, Khushi smiled widely acknowledging the loud music coming from the speakers and the large disco ball hanging up on the ceiling.
The place was packed with students and teachers grooving to the music. Arnav groaned and shouted on top of the music, "I HATE DANCING!" Earning a smack from Khushi, she dragged him to the dance floor before waving over at their friends.
Placing her hands over his neck, she pressed herself more into him, and started moving slowly against his body. Arnav taking this as an opportunity pressed his head into the crook of her neck and lost himself in her long, brown tresses. Moving seductively against each other, they lost themselves to another world altogether.
"See, you're dancing Arnav!" Khushi whispered into his ears. Arnav smiled against her cheek and sighed and said "Only for you Munchkin…only for you…" Smiling thoughtfully at him, she hugged him tighter.
They were brought back to earth after a loud, fast beat picked up. The lights came on and everybody got into their places. Shaking his head negatively, Arnav tried getting away from this but as usual his request went unheard and Khushi pulled him into the dance floor.
Twirling her onto the dance floor, the music grew louder.
The DJ started singing:

Jay walked over to the spotlight and moved effortlessly to the beat shocking everyone. Khushi jumped up and down in glee and cheered him on.

Khushi dragged Arnav to the floor while he twirled her around in his arms.
Khushi:

Arnav:

Everybody joined them onto the dance floor.

Twirling Khushi around, she fell into Arnav's arms. Holding her hand, he kneeled down and kissed her hand.
Arnav:

Khushi:

Arnav:

Khushi:
Aisi hi to raatein shuru hoti hain
DJ & the Crowd:

Jay held out his hand for Tanya.

Khushi pushed Arnav onto a chair.

Arnav sat up, dragged Khushi into his arms.

Khushi giggled when Arnav kissed her, she looped her arms around his neck. Suddenly, flashbacks of Rehan appeared in her head. Clutching her heart tightly, she pulled away from Arnav in guilt and tried walking away.
Arnav although confused, pulled Khushi back into his arms, his eyes seeking for answers. Khushi looked away nervously. Arnav kissed her forehead firmly and twirled her slowly around.
Ishq wala love……
Surkha wala….
Soze wala….
Faiz wala….love
Hota hai jo….love se zyada….waise wala love….
Ishq wala love….
Pulling out of Arnav's hold, Khushi blinked back her tears and ran out of the hall.
Arnav shocked, followed her out in a run, wondering what had happened.

Running over to the lake behind the hall, Khushi sat herself down on a bench overlooking the water which reflected the shimmering moonlight.
She started crying and dragged her feet up to her chest and hugged herself to warm up.
As if sensing his presence, Arnav placed his blazer around Khushi and sat himself down next to her.
She looked at him while he wiped her tears off. He placed his arms around her and let her calm down.
Pulling back slightly, Khushi whispered an apology. Shrugging it off, Arnav asked her what was wrong.
Khushi took a deep breath and looked at him straight into his eyes.
"Rehan….he's….alive….very…much…alive…" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
