Chapter 19

Sid was in a state of shock. It was like everything was moving in slow motion, as his brain was trying to process what was happening. Shilpa was leaving...he tried to figure out what he had done. He looked back into his memory trying to remember what had set her off. And then he got up and left...everyone who had been helping Shilpa move her things stopped and turned to look at him but he didn't say anything and slammed the door on his way out. Shilpa looked at the back of the wooden door and her heart broke...she knew she was being selfish with everything..she was not telling him what the real problem was. But then she convinced herself that it was for the best.

He looked up at the clock it was 12:00 and he didn't know where the hell he was...all he knew was now when he closed his eyes he didn't think about Shilpa or for a matter of fact nothing...he was completely sloshed. He signaled the bartender to give him a refill...and then he drank the entire peg in one sip...his throat burned and it even hurt a little but it felt good. Why did everyone want to leave him...maybe it was physically impossible for anybody to care for him...because after a while apparently he wasn't so important...he was like a piece of gum that you could chew and when all the flavor was gone and the gum became tasteless he was spit out into the trash. The only people who cared a little were his parents...but maybe the were obliged as parents...they had to love their child...it was like a secret parent code...had to be or else why would they care.

Sidhaanth thought about calling someone when he was so drunk that he couldn't stand up but then he thought...who cared if he walked out the bar...tripped and got crushed by a freaking bus...it wouldn't matter and just as he was about to stand up and topple over he didn't because there was someone to break his fall...there was someone to stop his from falling and cracking open his head. When he looked up it was Rohan...and the look on his face said it all...what the hell happened you? Was the first words out of his mouth has he helped him back onto the stool. Sid tried looking at him...but his eyes couldn't focus...everything was getting sort of hazy...he tried blinking but it didn't help...and now he couldn't even understand what Rohan was saying everything was too loud and suddenly there was pin-drop silence and everything went black.

Rohan decided that it was best if he just carried Siddhant..it wasn't like he was exactly light but he himself wasn't weak...he picked Sid up fireman style and took him to his car and drove home. He knew something had happened...because even if he and Sid weren't close he could sense that all was not well because if it was Shilpa would've been there with him in the bar with him getting drunk. The both of them were always together...for better or worse...at first he was a little jealous that the two of them had gotten so close in such a short time period but whenever he looked at Shilpa, the green-eyed monster inside of him vanished...he had always seen her smile but the smile she gave Sid was something special...she always radiated when she was around him. Even a blind man would know that she was head over heals over him and so was he. Rohan thought to himself the possible scenarios that resulted him carrying Sid up to his loft and taking his shirt, pants, shoes, and socks then dumping him on his bed. Maybe Sid and Shilpa had a fight...he thought of calling her but then looked at the clock it was 4 in the morning...so he did the next best thing he passed out right next to Sid..hey who said he wasn't drunk himself.

Sid slowly woke up as the sun got in his eyes he closed them...his head hurt...he tried getting up but he felt his body constricted between the bed and a dead weight...he moved his hands up to his eyes and rubbed them...and as his sight cleared he screamed...a raw blood curdling scream...Rohan fell of the bed and opened his eyes...the scream vibrated through his bones as he tried to get back onto his bed...Sid looked pale...as he asked what the hell happened last night? Rohan looked at him with a grim face full of seriousness and then started laughing...even as Sid shoved him...he couldn't stop and as he wiped his happy tears he said...nothing you idiot except for the fact that I was a gracious host to a ungrateful drunk. Sid calmed down and took a deep breath and almost whispered..where did you find me?

Rohan smiled...not his normal smirk but a genuine smile that Sid had never seen before. You were at McKinney's...quite far of your beaten path if I might say so myself...what were you doing in these parts...and alone...what happened? Did you and Shilpa get in a fight? You two love birds didn't agree on a ice-cream topping or something? Sid gave Rohan a little smile at that comment but then with looked at him with depth and recounted the events of yesterday...by the end of it Sid's smile was wiped of his face and he looked down at the bed sheets. Rohan patted him on the shoulder signaling him to look up and when he did Rohan said...look don't make a big deal of it...I've known Shilpa forever...one time in college she left during a lecture and then I saw her one month later at the library...that day she was livid and when I saw her again in the library she was perfectly fine. Its just the way she rolls...when she's feeling intense anger, love, sadness or any other emotion and feels smothered she runs...so don't worry...you haven't done anything...he put pressure on Sid's shoulder to drive the point further...and then gave a big smile...now if were done sharing our feels want to get up and get over this hangover like real men. Sid smiled he felt a little relieved...it wasn't him...he just guessed from what Rohan had told him that Shilpa needed some space and he was going to be a good friend and give it to her.
