Firstly a big SOORRRYYY...!!!!! too much of delay in updates- too much travel and work...!!! In between flights I would manage to type little little of the update whenever I get time on my phone. I understand that's too much of wait. I hope you haven't forgotten the story. 😆😉
Chapter 18
Maan looked in the direction of the door only to find a beautiful lady dressed neatly in a sari walk in. His heart skipped a beat, after seeing Geet wearing mangalsutr and sindhoor. She usually never did it.
"Please sit down", he said, pointing to he chair opposite to him.
"Thank you!", she said, nervously. She knew Maan wouldn't eat her up- but now he was not her husband- he was a man who would interview her for a project.
"This project is 200 crores Geet", he said. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "But, I feel you can handle it". The second statement made her stare at him surprised.
"Inititally I wanted my chief architect" and he stopped. "Excuse me for a second", he said, picking up the receiver.
"Two cups of coffee, with one spoon of sugar in one and two and a half spoons" and stopped again. "Ek minute, I'll just call you back, don't get the coffee", he said, realizing he hadn't asked Geet if she really wanted a coffee. He knew she loved coffee but it was basic manners to ask someone what they want instead of just assuming things.
"What would you like to have- coffee, tea or some juice?", he asked.
"Coffee- with two and a half spoons of sugar, less milk", she said, making him smile. She had almost repeated the same thing as he had left incomplete a few minutes back.
"Alright", he said, picked up the receiver, and repeated the same thing to the person in the cafeteria.
"Initially I wanted my chief architect to take up this project- but she has enough to handle", he said.
Maan continued talking about the project and how it would affect his company's growth and reputation. What he absolutely did not mention was ' that this project was his dream- something that he wanted to achieve perfection in- he wanted this to stand out as a symbol of pride for his company.
As they sipped their coffees and discussed further on the project- Sasha walked in, as ordered by Maan.
"Sasha, she'll handle the 200 crore project", said Maan as Sasha took her seat beside Geet, wondering what Geet was doing here.
"I'm sorry! What's that ?", she asked, not believing her ears. "MK ne iss behenji ko apna dream project de rahe hain? Inki tabiyat tuo theek hain?" she thought to herself.
"Okay MK. As you wish. But there are certain things that she ought to know before she commits to this project. Since, I have done my bit of research on this- I know. So, if you don't mind Geet- I could share some of my observations", she said, very politely since Maan was right in front of them.
"Sure, Ms. Shergill", said Geet, turning to face Sasha.
"Well, this project is based in Hyderabad. So, you will have to keep shuttling between Delhi and Hyderabad very frequently", she said.
Geet thought for sometime and said, "Ok, that's fine!"
"Wonderful! This project might also need you to put up for a few days there", she said.
"Ok", said Geet.
"You will have to start from scratch. As in, we absolutely don't even have the plan/design etc etc for it. We only know that there exists a piece of land that needs to be made use of", she said.
"Well, what's the point of taking up a project- if everything else is spoon fed?", asked Geet. "I'll take it up from scratch", she said, smiling.
"Alright then! Welcome aboard and all the best", she said, having nothing else to say.
" thank you", said geet smiling.
"Alright sasha, see you later!", said Maan.
Sasha nodded her head, got up and walked off in a huff. She certainly dint like the idea of geet joining KC again to work for Maan s dream project. But, geet would have to travel very frequently. That thought made her smile evilly.
"Alright then. Here are the details pertaining to that project. Go through. You can get in touch with sasha if you need any clarifications".
"Oh, not you?", she asked and cursed her self for asking so.
He smiled. "If she can't answer regarding technical stuff and if Dev can't answer, regarding finances and funds, then this door is always open", he said, pointing to his chamber's door.
"Ok", said geet, certainly not happy with Maan's reply.
"So when should I start?", she asked.
"The ball's in your court. It's up to you now- what, how and when you wanna work on this", he said.
"Okay", she said, taking the folder and all the relevant documents required for the project. "I'll take leave then. See you later", she said.
"Yes", he said.
As she walked out of the chamber, Dev called out to her. She stopped and went towards him.
"Nice to see you hear. Yahan kaise?", he asked her.
"Project", she said.
"Oh wow! Bro ne approval diya?"
" haan", she said.
"But how can he do so? Without my sign off for funds", he said.
"Once I sign a document, none of your signatures will hold good, Mr. CFO", said Maan, coming from behind, with a lopsided smile.
"Ah yes Sir! I forget", he said, winking n smirking.
--------------------------------------------
"Geet!", called out Maan, as he entered his bedroom, at around ten past eight.
"Ji", she said, "2 mins. I'm just done cleaning my ward-robe", she said, taking a deep breath and wiping her sweat away.
"Cleaning your ward-robe?", he asked, quizzically. "Didn't you like clean it ten days back?"
"One week back", she corrected him, still looking at the ward-robe that was now neatly organized.
"Kya?" , he said. "How do you manage to mess it up in one week Geet?", he asked her.
She finally turned to look at him. "Mr. Khurana, do realize that your ward-robe is set once in every three days and that's exactly why you manage to find all your things and manage to reach office on time?"
"Oh really?", he said, raising an eye-brow.
"Yep!", she said, "Anyways, aap mujhe kyun bulaa rahen the?"
"Yahin poochne ki aaj aap office gaye the na, kisi dusht se milne, how did the meeting go?", he asked, standing against the wall, with his hands folded against his chest.
"Mere boss dusht nahin hain", she said, walking towards the mirror to adjust her hair.
"Accha? Tumhein kaise pata?", he asked.
"Mujhe pata hain, bahut shareef hain woh", she said.
"Arey wah- kaam shuru karne se pehle hi boss ke bare mein itna accha khayal", he said, walking towards her and stood behind her, looking at her in the mirror.
"Maan, main aapke saath kaam kar chuki hoon", she said, looking at him in the mirror.
"Geet, main tumhara pati hoon, boss nahin", he said.
"Par office", she said.
"Office mein main tumhara boss zaroor hoon, lekin ghar pe Mrs. Khurana- Mr. Maan Singh Khurana is your husband and he has nothing to do with anything that happens in the office", he clarified.
"SO, I can talk to you about anything in office and it wont affect you?", she asked.
"Yep!", he said.
"Great!", she said, and turned to face him. She held his hand and pulled him to the couch. He sat down and she sat his legs and rested her hands on his knees.
"Maan, I might have to travel a lot if I take up this project", she complained.
"Hmmm, so did you not say yes to the project?", he asked, as if he knew nothing about what happened in the office chamber.
"I did say yes, but I wasn't convinced myself", she said.
"Why?", he asked.
"Maan, travel means I'll be busy with just that- I may or may not have time for stuff at home", she said.
"Geet, I think you can afford to not take care of things at home. We have enough people employed to do that for you", he said.
"Yes I know- but it's not just home Maan", she said and stopped and looked at him.
He did not say anything.
"Maan, are you listening?", she asked.
"I am- go on!", he said.
"Its not just about taking care of stuff at home", she repeated.
"Hmmm, I heard that- move on Geet", he said.
She looked away, unable to explain. "What is it Geet? You don't want to travel?"
"I don't mind travelling Maan", she said.
"Then what's the problem?", he asked.
"The problem is you!", she said.
"Me? Excuse me? What did I do now?", he asked, holding her hands, sngrily.
"Dekha gussa? Issi gusse ki wajah se aap kisi ke baat nahin sunte aur jab tak koi aapke peeche peeche bhaagte nahin to aap ko to khaane aur sone ka thought hi nahin aayega", she said, raising her tone.
"Hmmm", he said.
"What hmmm?", she asked.
"It's a trivial thing! Don't bother. What else did you talk to your boss?", he asked, trying to divert the topic.
"This is not over yet. And it is not trivial- it is the biggest concern", she said.
"Nope it isn't", he said. "I'll take care of myself. You concentrate on the project. Travel how much ever you want!", he said, picking up his phone was ringing. She pulled it away from him and said, "Hamari baat khatam nahin hui"
"Geet phone do!", he said.
"Nahin", she said.
"Geet do phone", he said, trying to snatch it from her hand.
"Mr. Khurana, yeh phone nahin, iss waqt mein priority hoon", she said, throwing the phone onto the bed.
He looked at her with a straight face and she looked away, "Mein yeh kehna chahti ki.." and he completed it for her, "Geet, don't bother about me. I'll take care of myself. The very thought that you did not want to take up this project because you might not be able to keep an eye on me- is suifficient to keep me going- the concern you have is enough Geet. I'm happy. I have better reasons to take care of myself now than before", he said.
She did not say anything. Maan's phone rang again. "Main le aati hoon", she said, moving back to get it.
He held her hands and pulled her close. "Geet, rehne do us phone ko. Aur yaad rakhna ki, sirf iss waqt nahin, hamesha tum meri priority ho"
"Hmmm", she said, controlling her smile and trying to look away to avoid revealing her blush to Maan.
"Hmm, aur koi complaints?", he asked.
"Haan meri office mein ek chudail bhi hain. Mujhe lagta hain ki woh chudail mujhe chain se rehne nahin degi. Jab dekho meri boss ko line marti rehti hain", she cribbed.
"Hmmm", he said.
"What hmmm? Aap kuch bolenge nahin?", she asked, angrily.
"Agar woh tumhare boss pe line mare to tumhein kya? Tumhein apni kaam se matlab rakho na", he said.
"Aap uss chudail ko suppost kar rahen ho?", she asked.
"Bilkul nahin", he said.
"Mujhe to wahin lag rahin hain", she said.
"Geet, what is your problem here? Is your problem the chudail disturbing you or the fact that the chudail is disturbing your boss?"
"Both!", she said.
"How can both be a problem? What she does to your boss is not your concern isn't it?", he said.
"Mujhe ab lag rahan hain, ki mere boss bhi usse pasand karne lage hain", she said and moved her hands away from his and walked away out of the bedroom.
