I'm in and will support you guys.
The writer puts so much effort and thoughts to bring out a single update and all the plagiarisers have to do is Copy and Paste. It's such a big offense and I can't seriously get why IF is not harsh to them in terms of punishment!?
I really liked the idea of IP ban. The whole MIDs problem can be wiped out.
I have a doubt. How to check whether the story is plagiarised or not, with the help of Google?
I think this initiative is great and very much needed. Although I haven't been a victim of plagiarism, I can completely understand the frustration and the IF team can definitely do more to make sure it does not take place here. There are so many great FF's that have been recommended on this forum, but I have not been fortunate enough to read as the authors have restricted their way due to the work of a few individuals (which I totally understand). It's just sad that people feel that stealing others work is ok.
Unfortunately, I think the issue of plagiarism or that of intellectual property does not take precedence in India society as it should. Although I don't live in India, I have visited many times and there are bootlegged copies of every single thing possible (books, music, movies, etc). In a society where it is so common to breach copyright laws, it doesn't surprise me that this issue of plagiarism is so rampant on this forum. I'm not trying to stereotype and pass judgements, but this is just based on my observations of India and in no way am I saying that it's the only country where this issue is commonplace. Also, if you look at many of the popular/famous Bollywood movies, you can see that the plots are completely copied from other movies (like Hollywood for example). It just shows the general public that these acts are pardonable.
I don't know if these are valid examples, but in my mind, when the general public see's these things going on so frequently, they believe they can do it too. I really hope that with this initiative, more can be done on this forum specifically to curb this issue and those of us who are on this forum just to read fabulous stories don't have to face the repercussions because of the actions of a few people who misuse this forum.
I apologize if I have offended anyone with my thoughts, but it's just the way I feel. If anyone has any reservations to what I have written, please feel free to PM me.
