I'm in and will support you guys.
The writer puts so much effort and thoughts to bring out a single update and all the plagiarisers have to do is Copy and Paste. It's such a big offense and I can't seriously get why IF is not harsh to them in terms of punishment!?
I really liked the idea of IP ban. The whole MIDs problem can be wiped out.

I have a doubt. How to check whether the story is plagiarised or not, with the help of Google?

I think this initiative is great and very much needed. Although I haven't been a victim of plagiarism, I can completely understand the frustration and the IF team can definitely do more to make sure it does not take place here. There are so many great FF's that have been recommended on this forum, but I have not been fortunate enough to read as the authors have restricted their way due to the work of a few individuals (which I totally understand). It's just sad that people feel that stealing others work is ok.

Unfortunately, I think the issue of plagiarism or that of intellectual property does not take precedence in India society as it should. Although I don't live in India, I have visited many times and there are bootlegged copies of every single thing possible (books, music, movies, etc). In a society where it is so common to breach copyright laws, it doesn't surprise me that this issue of plagiarism is so rampant on this forum. I'm not trying to stereotype and pass judgements, but this is just based on my observations of India and in no way am I saying that it's the only country where this issue is commonplace. Also, if you look at many of the popular/famous Bollywood movies, you can see that the plots are completely copied from other movies (like Hollywood for example). It just shows the general public that these acts are pardonable.

I don't know if these are valid examples, but in my mind, when the general public see's these things going on so frequently, they believe they can do it too. I really hope that with this initiative, more can be done on this forum specifically to curb this issue and those of us who are on this forum just to read fabulous stories don't have to face the repercussions because of the actions of a few people who misuse this forum.

I apologize if I have offended anyone with my thoughts, but it's just the way I feel. If anyone has any reservations to what I have written, please feel free to PM me.

Just copy/write a few lines off the story and paste them onto Google search and see if any other link opens...

Thank You for the comment and the support...I would just like to remind you of one thing - IF has members from all over the world, not just India. Hence plagiarism that it faces comes from all over the world and not just India.

I meant Indian/desi society in general, not just people living in India. I am making an assumption here, but I'm guessing that the majority of the users on this forum are of Indian descent (I'm sure there a lot who aren't, but majority probably are, including myself). I'm just trying to say that a lot of our society doesn't take this issue very seriously and it should. I obviously know and understand that there is plagiarism going on ALL over the world by EVERY type of person. I apologize if I have offended anyone with my thoughts, but this is just what I feel based on my experience alone.

its sad to see how easily people can steal other people's work and call it their own...because of that other readers have to suffer...theres so many times that i want to read someones work but it has been shifted to a restricted blog where they wont give us access due to the fear of plagiarism.
will def. keep an eye out for any lurkers around!!! This has to STOP.
