But we genuine readers WILL support our writers the best way we can...😊

it's not easy for a writer to trust on a new reader and the reader should understand what the writer must be going through when their own story been plagiarizer..
I dont know when u had register in IF since i'm here from last year and i can only tell you one thing.. We cant trust anyone in this world especially in social network as IF.. Even a writer cant trust another writer too..

All the writer need support from the readers but what if the reader itself dumb the writer..? Do you thinks acceptable?

when i was a reader i used to read a lot of story but have to stop due to studies.. When i was back and i continue reading again but in vain most the writer quit due to this problem.. When a writer it self have put a note about no sharing and only for India Forum member then why the hell the reader are still sharing link on other social network..

What you feel?? Thank to God till now i havent face such problem and i really hope i wont faced it in future..

I do write my own fan fiction which is on the forum. I do have a blog but it is solely used for mature content and does not relate to plot or storyline. I do give out links to new readers as well, but only after they have commented for a period of time as then somewhat of a trust factor is formed. I do not know what I would do if my story was plagiarized.

I hope there can be a better way to deal with plagiarism so that everyone can enjoy fan fictions...

Thank you so much that as an author you have not restricted your work...
I think the only way out for both the writers and readers is for IF to change its policies...
An initiative has been started by AngelTeen and Krani against Plagiarism...the link is given on page 1 of this thread...please lend your support!!!

Since there are no strict rules preventing this problem from happening on IF currently, some of us are taking a stand and trying to spread the word about it. It's about time this forum wakes up to this epidemic so readers and writers stop suffering, and these copycatters get proper punishment. Done 😊 I've posted it on the 1st page of the thread too...Hope IF becomes a safe place to post FFs

I just don't understand what (creative??) satisfaction people get by projecting somebody else's work as their own!!
It's plain stealing and I hate these people so much! because innocent and loyal readers like (who just follow FFs) have to bear the brunt!

I so agree with your post. Thanks for giving voice to readers as well!!

res... will be back with comments soon... thanks for the PM

Unres...

What else could i say about this topic... it feels terrible to see such condition across the forum. WHY i mean WHY? forget about cheating the reader. dont they think they are cheating themselves? they are. they are cheating them the most...

i would like to request to all the readers that never hesitate to report plagiarized stories.. no matter how well known that writer maybe... i myself is victim of such thing. i felt hurt because 80% of my readers were common with that other writer who stole my scenes and incorporated in her work and only 10-15 poeple launched the complain against that writer... just because they wanted their daily dose from their writer... wah! this is what i got in return... readers, remember one thing once a cheater who never accepted that she/he has cheated will always be a cheater. today she stole my work tomorrow she will steal someone elses work... Shockingly she happened to be my very close friend too and she was a very popular writer. i cannot and will not take her name as i still respect her a lot. she has given some fabulous FFs in India forums and she had been a good friend of mine.

I agree to Krani in above comment. It really hurts to see your own work copied by some one else. You genuinely requested to give a new readers a chance but how writers are supposed to find out which readers are trustworthy ? So they chose to boycott all of them. Nevertheless I agree that true readers suffer too. even I have gone through that same pain. And it's a loss of both writers and readers that creative and good writing can't reach to many people.

But what I feel is, it's responsibility of both writers and readers to stop such illegal job. Readers can keep a watch if someone is copying any writers work and bring that to notice. And whole IF should ban that culprit from forum. Or strict action should be taken against him/her.

Hope soon these dark clouds get cleared and all good writers shine again with their beautiful writing as earlier...😊

yup!! i truly agree with that!!!
i have just started my first ss and if someone copies it obviously i'll be hurt and furious!!
i believe plagiarism is like a disease which affects both the readers and writers!!!
and i agree to this too that most of the time we prefer giving to those whom we know coz a known devil is better than an unknown ghost!! (lol just modified it)
i really am happy that someone has made this post
serendipitylove thank u very much!!!!
and i think strict rules might work!!!

thank you

First of all...I am a a relentless stalker of your story "Arranged Marriage" :) I also loved your OS "Bad Deal". I simply love the way you write and I have appreciated that through comments several times...Thank you so much for not restricting your work 😊

I would like to clarify that I did not mean to take a stand against writers who restrict their work...Its just that as a new reader, the most you can do is PM, scrap or email the writer several times and convince them through your words that you are genuine and would like to genuinely become their reader...I have tried to do that several times with little success...Some writers are so rude that it makes me regret that I asked them in the first place...

I am not a silent reader...the writers I follow would know that...you would know if you checked the comments on your thread...But other than commenting, I don't scrap or PM them later or try to get to know them better or anything...How many of us want to share our personal lives with people we don't know...
How do writers like you figure out who your trusted readers are? Are they only the people who've made an effort to know personally you through IF? How would you select readers if you make your blog private?
What should readers like me do in our predicament? How should we prove that we are not dangerous?

please do tell😃
because of some few rotten and shameless people all have to suffer!!!!😳

Last time when i was a reader i used to read 10+ day just because they are awesome.. but know seem like all the writer have move to their personal blog to continue their journey.. And this is what a writer should do to protect their work..

as im a writer now.. I hardly ready any FanFics.. There was a writer which i admire till now but due to some reason she left IF but the happiest thing was she was back to continue but after one months she quit IF again..

If this is what a writer get from their reader then they shouldnt continue writing here anymore..

As much plagiarism hurt readers.. Thousand time more plagiarism hurts the writer..

hey di!! i totally agree
it really hurts seeing your stories under someone's name
but there must be some solution except restricting the blog???
where genuine writers don't have to suffer??
i believe that the writers are protective about their work but something can happen???😊

I feel sad that we are facing this problem of some people stealing someone else story it's a shame and I surprised that the dev team has not stopped it I love reading these stories understand the amt of work that goes into creating a story ,it takes time out of their regular schedules to give us these masterpieces ,so request the development to look into these complaints seriously .hope they find a solution to it .
