If you are writing an ArHi FF, and use the terrace scene then you don't have to cite it as your FF title itself says that its and ArHi FF.

For example, I had written an OS based completely on various dialogues of IPK ON IPK and had used the mud smearing scene from the Pakistani drama Sherezaat. I had to put up a note regarding the same.

Similarly, if I were writing something on Sherezaat and if I use a scene from IPK, then I have to say that the scene is from IPK

She got the rights, didn't she?

What I was asking can I write an FF on Arnav and Khushi based on P&P and use the same sequence and that will not be plagiarism (including the same dialogues?)

As I have already stated, writing in the same sequence, using similar scenes is NOT plagiarism (for me) provided credit has been given to the original work as a whole and wherever due (for instance you take some dialogue straight from Miss. Austen, you credit here specifically again in that chapter).

And as far as buying/getting rights is concerned, we all may be walking on glass here because fanfictions may also be reviewed under wrongful use of some content (not sure about this but could be).

*Edited

Replace 'wrongful use of some content' with copyright infringement lawsuit against the writer by the production house, channel, author etc.

Of course we can discuss about inspiration and adaptations at length. But I don't understand how does she fall under in either of the categories???? We are digressing! My issue was that of a bias. And it seems to grow even more!

Lazy, she has adapted from the story but she has gone wrong in two things:

1) she did not give credit

2) she copied the first chapter.

That changes the ball game, and yes it does classify under plagiarism. We are not digressing as Gargee claimed that she is adopting from the novel, and as readers/writers it was important to have that line cleared out between what is plagiarism and what is not.

Discussing any of this, in no way, defends what Gargee has done. Discussing this does not make somebody a defender of Gargee nor does it make what Gargee did alright.

How does discussing turn into bias? How does asking whether adapting from a story and what classifies under it become a bias?
I have already pointed out several times in my posts that what you have said and pointed out is true, however there are certain doubts in people's minds in regards to this and there is nothing wrong to have this cleared.

Okay so.. I'm going to be inactive starting today so I thought I'd drop a quick comment to clarify a few things before I leave for three weeks.

I went through the fan fiction thread and noticed the warning by Saraa. That note was posted by the IPK DT back when the thread was at that forum. Clearly, they have different rules. But now that the thread is here, we can take action based on OUR rules, no matter what the IPK DT had decided previously. The FF DT was in no way involved in the decision that was taken.
After reading through the pages here, i've realized there's a lot of confusion about inspiration vs plagiarism. If I were to take a scene from IPK, like the scene where Arnav sees Khushi and Shyam hugging, and wrote something out to that effect..that would be plagiarism because you've taken the essence/concept of the scene. However, if you were take an idea of a character.. For example, a cruel husband and a submissive wife.. That's inspiration and the original author who came up with it should be credited. The previous scenario of a scene would need permission from an author. But if you're using a particular holiday, an event, a name or something like that... that can be creditted. Hopefully I make sense.
Unfortunately, I can't take action so you'll have to PM GMs or admin mentioned in the absence note I posted of Radha and I. Please have the GMs/admins refer to the Severe Penalty for plagiarism thread.
See you all soon.
Radha & I.

In that case I have gotten inspired by many scenes of IPKKND and I have claimed that all along in my stories.

The guesthouse scene was one of my biggest inspirations for Arranged Marriage and that is shown in one of the parts. Along with the scene where she falls from the stool, and there is going to be many scenes that are going to be featured in my story as their main inspiration is Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, TV serial.

If that is plagiarism, then I guess you can remove Arranged Marriage from India-Forums.

But I don't understand this, and I don't want the title of a plagiariser hanging over my head.

If scenes are being considered under plagiarism now, then trust me, I am an offender!

If it is anyone else then ask the DT for a Hall of Shame and if it is Gargee give her a chance to explain herself!

Hypocrisy at it's best!

Actually Maya has often had quotes from Jane Austen and always given appropriate credit at the end.

Sigh this is getting out of hand though. I guess the DT has made clear what's tolerable and what's not.

But dont you already give the general disclaimer ki known characters, scenes, plots 4Lions ke hain blah blah?

And if this, despite of the above, is indeed plagiarism then I am guessing more than half of us are offenders.

Doesnt a FF by definition mean a FAN's TAKE on a show, song, film etc etc etc???? So wont they be basing their FF's on something from the show itself, even if just the character names in case of AU FFs?
