Plagiarism:

The one crime that goes unpunished... Its basically theft and the worst part is people gladly do it... Just so that they can become famous at the cost of another's hard work...

What people dont understand while plagiarizing is that apart from doing something wrong, they hurt the original author who then becomes demotivated to write or expand...

As people before me have put forth the terms to what exactly constitutes to plagiarism, i totally agree with them. IF should take better mesures to counter this growing crime...

The only way to stop it is to take measures against it...

Otherwise I can see a day where many notable authors quit IF... I do not want to see that happen...

Well i dont know how effective and efficient this is going to be but i have thought a lot about it. though it is not fuel proof but i am sure this will definitely reduce mass plagiarizing which is happening these days.

We can post the chapter as an Image file with our name as watermark behind the write-up.

this way the person who wants to copy have to type the whole thing by himself/herself and then post it. i doubt how much he/she will be interested typing it out when he/she doesnot want to apply his/her brain to create his/her own story.

Below is an example of what i am saying

@bold: 😆 I agree.. no one would liek to type the whole chapter or even better, FF. 🤣

The image idea is actually a great one, but how do we put up the image?

^There's a few ways for sure, but the simplest one I know is that Microsoft Word has a watermark feature itself, which allows you to add a picture or some sort of text. If you can save as a jpg or a png, then you simply upload it to any image sharing website [like imgur]. I used to do this with my WUs for a show and it really didn't take that long at all!

Thanks for this thread! Any way of reducing the amount of plagiarism that happens on this website would be great, or at least making more readers aware that plagiarism does happen and it's actually not right, that they should look out for it in whatever they may read.
