Chapter 8

No... For the first time...Maan Singh Khurana was wrong! I have to apologize... No but I can't apologize to a girl...par jo insan koi galti nahi karta...aaj itni badi galti ho gayi usse...nahi Maan...you have to say sorry...uss bichari ko maine kya kya nahi kaha! Also in the office she caught me like that with another girl...aur woh kuch nahi boli aur sab ghar ka kaam bhi karti hai aur main sirf usey gussa dikhata tha...nahi I have to fix this. He thought.

(No for the first time...Maan Singh Khurana was wrong! I have to apologize to a girl...but the person who never makes mistakes...how did he make such a big one today? No Maan...you have to say sorry...what I haven't said to her... Also in the office she caught me like that with another girl and she is innocent and she used to do everything for me...but I was always angry at her...no...I have to fix this!)

All day Maan spent trying to think of how to say sorry but just couldn't come to terms with it. He was going to send some flowers but didn't know if she would like them so he rejected that idea, and now he was just confused but he had decided that whatever happens that he would apologize today as Maan Singh Khurana kisi bhi kaam se peeche nahi hattha.

He was working today but somewhere he just couldn't concentrate but he still tried. For Maan work would be his first priority work, as a long time ago he had realized that people only value you for your money and nothing else. He knew that as he had experienced that from a very long time back, so he started to work night and day to gain respect in the society for his family and so that they could have a good life but just in some days, a girl manages to turn his life upside down, but was that for the best?

On the other hand, Geet was in college enjoying with her friends. Everyone was sitting with her in the canteen eating sandwiches.

Toh Geet...tum kaha se ho? I mean originally! Said Yash.

I am from Hoshiyarpur! Kyun?

But you don't look like you are from HoshiyarpurSaid Yash.

Haan...yeh sahi baat hai... said Meera.

That's because I have lived in Delhi for 4 years so I know how it works around here! Said Geet.

Hmm...That's pretty cool. Said Arjun

So which field you want to go into? Said Riya.

I am doing Masters in Architecture right now...then I will want to gain some firsthand experience said Geet.

Oh that's good...any company in mind? Asked Arjun.

Not really...said Geet.

Oh I know you should try Khurana Constructions...that's really good said Yash.

Geet wanted to end this conversation as soon as possible, just in case as she does not want to blabber something out unknowingly.

Hmm...Will see...what are you guys doing this weekend? Asked Geet

Arre kuch nahi...those presentations are due in you know and we have to work on it...aur haan Yash iss baar no kanjusi...we will work on it together...meaning that you will also have to contribute on it..pata hai Geet...yeh koi kaam nahi karta and leaves it up to all of us finish his work! Kyun Meera? Said Riya.

Absolutely right...but iss baar no bahana...said Meera.

Hmm...Where do you want to do the project? Asked Yash.

Why don't all of you come to my house and we can all study there...but we also have to think of a concept...said Riya.

Hmm..okay! That's cool...why not? Said Geet.

Will meet you there on Saturday!

Okay cool...see you all there then! Said Riya.

Everyone left, leaving only Geet and Riya in the canteen. They had no classes so they were just chilling.

So how was your karvachauth...and may I ask who it was for? Said Geet mischievously.

Riya's eyes popped out listening to Geet.

Geet...tum mera ek din band baja dogi...! she said quietly.

But since you asked, it was good...! I normally can't live without food for a whole day, but it was good that day said Riya.

Hmm...kiske liye? Asked Geet.

Arjun...whispered Riya.

OMG...really? I didn't know that you too... words left Geet as she tried to let the thought sink in.

SHHH...Geet...! I like Arjun...but he never pays attention to me...! He always gets angry at me for small things...! I just don't know what to do..! But somewhere I just know that he is the one...you know! When he is close to me...my heart starts to beat faster... I feel like he can almost hear me..!

You know on the day of Karvachauth, I fainted at a temple...luckily Arjun found me...and he made me drink water...he actually broke my fast!

Has this ever happened with you?

Geet thought about the time she fainted in the room and how Maan made her drink water. How he looked after all her wishes that day, like a dutiful husband. Then suddenly she went back to thinking about the scene in his office.

How he was having sex with another girl, up against the wall. Even though, she felt really mad at that point, seeing her husband naked had awoken some desires that she had never felt before.

But she could never have that could she?

Suddenly tears were dripping from her eyes...

Riya soon noticed that her friend indeed was weeping.

Geet...kya hua? Are you alright? Asked a worried Riya.

Hmm...I am fine...said Geet.

Bas tumhari story sunke thodi emotional ho gayi thi...! Waise...don't worry...everything will be fine! I am sure he has feelings for you too...!

Hmm...Maybe you are right...said Riya.

They left, after that. After hearing Riya's story about her love for Arjun, Geet somewhat felt guilty that she hadn't told them about her marriage. She was close with Riya, rather than anyone else in the group. Riya had always helped her and supported her.

She would tell Riya soon, about her marriage. She couldn't just keep it a secret anymore.

It was afternoon when Maan returned from office and straight went into Dadi's room. Geet wasn't at home yet as she was still in college, but Maan didn't know that yet.

Dadi..can I ask you something? Said Maan confidently.

Yes beta...of course said Dadi.

Umm...Dadi...can me and Geet go and live in the outhouse?

But why beta...is there any problem in the mansion...did something happen? said Dadi in all one go!

Dadi... nothing happened...just that me and Geet are newly married and would like some privacy...in other words I would like her to know me better and we will still come for all meals to the mansion...you know it's hard for us having an arranged marriage...she knows nothing about me and I know nothing about her..This way we will bond a little more. Said Maan.

And here I was worried for both of you guys...but looks like I won't have to...I am happy for you Maan that you have taken my words seriously.

Hmm...Thank you! Saying that, he left before Dadi could say another word.

Maan informed Nakul all the arrangements that had to be done and he made sure that everything was done according to Geet's taste.

In the evening Geet returned back home from the hectic day. She came straight to their room to freshen up but was worried as she saw none of her or Maan's belongings in their bedroom. She was about to go out their room when she saw a letter placed on the bed.

Dear Geet,

Come to outhouse...I know that you are confused seeing none of your stuff in this bedroom but you will find out everything there...Come upstairs and come into the bedroom on the left...

Maan

Geet went to the outhouse in a hurry to find out what is happening. She stepped into the outhouse. The outhouse was dimly lit and she could smell the fresh scented flowers. She went upstairs to see that there were 2 bedrooms. She took a left to see that the door of the bedroom was already open. She went inside and as soon as she went inside, the lights came on, revealing a bed, sofa, a dressing table, a study table and all her belongings but none of Maan's. She was really confused.

Is Maan trying to chuck me out of the mansion? She thought.

She soon felt a presence behind her and turned around to meet the gaze of her husband. She could see his eyes speaking volumes for her, but she couldn't see the flicker of emotion on his face. Maan on the other hand was just staring at her. He didn't know where to start and he could see the confusion on her face.

She probably took this all in a wrong way! he thought.
