Chapter 9
Maan started walking towards her with a guilty look on his face. He just didn't know where to begin.
Aap... yaha... Aur yeh sab? What is going on? She said trying to clear the confusion in her head.
Umm... Geet... Wo... Ab hum outhouse mein rahenge... he said trying to see her reaction.
What? But why? I liked living in the mansion with Dadi, Annie, Naintara and Dev. They used to give me company and I liked it so why are we suddenly living in the outhouse? She asked clearly frustrated.
Look... Geet! Dadi told me everything that happened in Hoshiyarpur before I came there, of how your family treated you and how they behaved with you.
That's when I realized that both of us are going through the same thing with each other. We should help each other in trying to get through this together, not that you haven't been but it's just that I should have been a little more considerate. I didn't know all this happened trust me, also what happened in the office...
I don't want to know what happened in the office... said Geet bluntly.
I know you feel that I am a middle-class bitch trying to steal your money...or would you prefer the word "w***e" instead?
GEET... Maan shouted. He grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her to him. Her soft chest hit his hard one.
I never want to hear this out of your mouth... Or I have other ways of closing it, said Maan in a stern voice.
Geet pushed him hard, and he let go of her.
Why does it hurt Mr. Maan Singh Khurana? I am saying the truth aren't I? The way you were making love to her... Kind of established our relation meant nothing to you...! said Geet.
I wasn't making love to her...! I was f*****g her... Hard..! And at that time I didn't believe you as my wife... That's why.
And now you do? asked Geet.
This was the first time Maan was silenced by a girl.
Why aren't you answering me Mr. Khurana? Or did you change your mind already? asked Geet with a smirk. For the first time, she was actually letting all her anger out.
Geet...I am sorry... he said in a deep breath..
Geet was shocked beyond belief...MSK...the MSK was apologizing to a girl like her. Something like that would be an 8th wonder of the world. She truly felt that she was in heaven. Maan noticed that Geet looked lost so he cleared his throat.
Yeh ladki bhi na...I am saying sorry to her and she is not even responding but just staring at me! He thought.
GEET...I said sorry once now I am not going to say it again... he said.
Actually you said it twice she uttered when she came out of her daydream.
What? he arched his eyebrows.
Never mind about that but can you please tell me why we are in the outhouse... Because I still want to stay in the mansion she said adamantly.
Like I said Geet... That now we are in the same position and clearly we are both unhappy for this marriage. So I thought why not carry on with our previous lives like we did before marriage, he stated nonchalantly.
Umm... Maan... We cannot change reality... We are married... Although both of us don't seem to approve of it but that's the reality.
Actually you can... It's called a divorce!
So you want to give me a divorce... I knew it that's why you brought me to the outhouse so you can get me divorced. She said angrily, glaring at Maan but he couldn't care less. Maan was trying very hard to control his anger today especially when he was trying to make everything right between them.
Geet can you please listen fully without making any assumptions otherwise we will be here all night! He said.
OMG...babaji..yeh tho sach much mujhe ghar se...no no..no...shub shub bol! She thought.
I was thinking that we should just get on with our lives and we could live in different rooms to make our lifestyle easier for us. Obviously we couldn't do that in the mansion because like you said that there is Dadi, Annie Dev and Naintara and we could easily get caught so that's why we are in the outhouse.
So two separate rooms? She asked.
Yes... And this is your one, mine is next to yours.
So you want to forget our marriage and live like nothing happened?
I just want to get to know you better... And you to know me better... And to understand each other and plus try and bring our life to normalcy.
For the outside people we will still remain a couple but for now we should concentrate on our lives and trying to bring back what we used to do before our marriage.. Like you want to finish your education and well I have Khurana Constructions to run.
I don't believe this marriage because we were forced to do it from our families but it wasn't left up to us to decide.
I think this is the best way. He turned around to give her some time to think when he heard her voice.

He looked up to her and saw a sweet smile on her face and her face a little relaxed.
You are right... My sole purpose of moving to Delhi 6 years ago was to educate myself in business as I have some goals in my life that I want to achieve, but this marriage threw me off for some time.
I was confused to what to do. I couldn't just leave because if my family found me, they would have killed me, but I still wanted to pursue my career as I worked hard for it.
So for the first few days of our marriage, I started to accept it because I realized that the sooner I would do that... The easier it would be for me to settle in.
So I decided to do everything that a wife normally would do for a husband and I did that just to make Dadi believe that everything is alright between us.
Hmm... said Maan
He was quietly listening to her story and he felt that this was the right decision, it would give both of them freedom.
Okay then... We will stay here! Good Night. said Maan. He was about to go to his room when Geet's voice startled him.
Rukhiye... Wo... Umm... I have started going to college... If it's okay with you! Said Geet slowly.
Hmm... Like I said Geet... It's your own life so you can make these decisions, you don't need to involve me in them when it has nothing to do with me... It's your career and if you feel strongly about it then you should do it.
But I will say one thing... That don't tell them you are Mrs. Khurana as that will lead to more complications... And I am sure Dadi would have told you that! saying that he chuckled.
How did you know that I asked Dadi?
Well you seem to be sharing everything with her, meaning that you are comfortable with her!
So you are not angry?
No... And before I go just remember that every evening we will have dinner at the mansion. He said walking away with a smile on his face, feeling relaxed and his heart felt lighter.
Geet felt happier as Maan was trying to understand her better and he actually said sorry to her. She felt content with what she had, now she could finally achieve those dreams that she had always wanted to do, something that motivated her. Thinking this, she snoozed off in her own bed.

It was new morning for Maan and Geet. They both had a good sleep and had a good start to the day. Maan got ready and went downstairs and saw Geet in the kitchen humming to an Indian song from a movie. He knew that as Annie was singing this song throughout last week just to annoy him. He sat down on the dining table that they had as he thought that Geet would have cooked something for him too and would bring it out.
She came out holding one plate and sat down opposite him.
Good Morning she chirped.
Hmm... Good Morning he said.
Then Geet just started eating, completely ignoring Maan, that she should serve him something but she just started eating those oily parathas. Maan cleared his throat to get her attention and that when she looked at him.
Kya hua Maan? Are you alright? She asked.
No everything is okay... But Geet tell me one thing... Are you just going to serve yourself and not me? I mean I thought you made breakfast, will you not give some to me! He asked curiously.
Nahi... As I have not made anything for you! I thought you have given me my freedom so I don't need to do that anymore plus you never like my food anyway! So whats the point... Oh and if you are hungry... The kitchen is that way! She said.
GEET... You really know how to annoy me don't you! He said
Maine kya kiya? She asked.
No nothing... What can you do anyway? Saying that he got up and went off to work.
Geet just stood there admiring his antics and then when he left she just burst out laughing. She made her way to college but not before sending some lunch for him with Nakul to his office.
Meanwhile Maan was sitting in the office, thinking of today's morning incident. He was angry at Geet but wanted to teach her a lesson, of not to mess with the MSK, he smirked evilly, thinking of his plans for the evening.
Oh it will be fun... To see Geet's face he thought.
