Chapter 1
Reality is negotiable
-Tim Ferriss
He froze!!
As his eyes held her gaze which radiated warmth and tenderness at him in a cordial way.
He breathed finally!! He felt he let out the breathe which he has been holding onto eternally since the appalling incident which snatched away everything from him; his second chance at life and serenity shattered again; his spirit of living had come to grief yet again. His shoulder slumped in as he sensed himself relaxing under someone's attentive gaze after what felt like eternity. His feet sought her, it took him every smidgen of his will power to halt him from doing so; he was alarmed if his minor movements would result in change of reaction from her.
He was rejoicing with the overwhelming emotions he was experiencing and the whirlwind of thoughts that clouded his mind. He mentally pushed them away to take in the sight opposite to him as he wasn't sure if he is either ever going to come across someone who is going to make him feel the way he is feeling right now or is he ever going to get a opportunity like this again, he thought the better of it and sat there savoring the sight he desired.
And the one person who has all eyes on her chotey let out a pleased sigh instantly after beholding his startled reaction to the young woman's sight.
She chuckled at a couple of specifics she had perceived;
The girl was a sight for sore eyes of her grandson. Arnav Singh Raizada ultimately had it in him to respond in a aspect other than shooting daggers at people and scaring their wits off. The entire Raizada clan watched Arnav with an hawk eye to deduce the outcome of the proposal.
The Raizada matriarch glanced at the siblings seated next to each other; they both had been tower of strength for each other and combated their path amidst stumbling blocks that headed their way habitually.
A child losing its spirit of endurance is always a difficult thing to witness because so often our hearts are connected to them inexplicably and that's what Devani had become a testimonial of as she watched her own grandchildren go through it and scrapped their way to where they are today.
Anjali Jha was a lovable and composed single mother. She was poised by nature but turned out to be gritty at times who managed to keep a stiff upper lip. Her childhood was anything but that; an victim of polio which deprived her of a normal childhood; a bystander to domestic violence at home ;the day which every girl visualized in their life turned out be the nothing short of nightmare; the day where her first love abandoned her at the altar; the very day she became an orphan. Finally married only to find her better half was nothing but a two faced bas***d.
She was broken beyond hope yet she had managed to sail through every storm that came her way with head held high in various obnoxious circumstances that life had put her in. She didn't let herself rule over the fact of pitying herself as a victim of fate; she termed it as experiencing the true essence of life which was bequeathed on her during different phase of life.
After Devani's familiarity with life one thing she had ascertained was, one has to be selfish enough to triumph over their personal glitches to make an endeavor towards a better tomorrow. And there was no denying the fact that her granddaughter had just been that at times whenever she found her back against the wall.
Her trains of thoughts were broken by Manoroma's incessant action of tugging at her arm to signal the miraculous view of their stubborn chotey eyeing the girl. This is what they all have been waiting for, a sign from his side now that he has given them one unintentionally; there was no looking back.
Devani's intentional act of coughing was a red herring which did nothing to break his eye contact from her. However the giggle of laughter's from Anjali and his five year old son Ansh did the needful of diverting his attention towards them; only to be rewarded with a typical Asr's glare.
He tilted his head back in the direction of the frame whose eyes had held him captive only to find her gone. Ten minutes later he found himself sipping the black coffee and inhaling its rich aroma like he always did.
She saw him staring at her appearing as if he wanted to ask her something but thought the better of it and shrugged.
Devani Singh Raizada choose to ponder on the intent of their visit "Is it a yes from your side for the proposal?" she shot at her.
Arnav averted his gaze right away to look at his nani, only to find her keenly scrutinizing the girl's reaction. What scared everyone in the room who were busy gawking at him with hooded eyes, of what Arnav would say dawned on them, this was the first time ever since they swayed upon him to perceive several girls in view of proposal was prolonged to the point where someone in the family had the privilege of asking the question which they intent to from the very time they talked him into it.
He saw her looking at him curiously for his reaction, he didn't know what made him to do what he did, their gazes clashed and locked and he nodded at her, rather assured her. She expressed her gratitude with a small smile playing on her lips.
When it was time for them to leave the place, the place which they assumed would never visit again, were baffled by the turn of events that took place in that very abode. Arnav was waiting at the entrance gate, his eyes pursued her and found her conversing with his sister and he walked up to them and heard his sister speak " Everything is going to be fine Ananya, Take care" she nodded at Anjali and muffled a "Thank you and you to take care of yourself " as soon as those words left her mouth their eyes met for a flash, he understood the latter part of the statement was directed at him too. He guided Anjali into the car and settled himself on the passenger seat and gazed at her one last time before he drove away.
