Chapter 14- Ache of Envy

22 December 2011

The day started with an awkward moment of standing between two Guys who were supposed to Go out with me today to the same place and at the same time.

AWKWARD!

"Hey...Arnie...Hey NK." I said and attempted to smile as if this was an everyday thing and turned to look at Aakash who was quiet enjoying the scene.

"We were supposed to be going to the Amusement Park, Right? And yesterday, You had said that You would be coming with Me..." Arnie said raising His eyebrow.

"Princess...We had decided to go on a date today So You can come with Me to the Amusement Park... Arnav, You have Sheetal to look after... She is Your Sister's friend." NK drawled while smirking at Arnav.

I gulped in discomfort and looked at Arnav's anticipating face which said I-dare-You-to-open-Your-mouth.

"Yaaay... We can all go there together..." I said clapping my hands while Aakash snorted.

Arnav stared at My face because He knew I was lying and trying to cover up My folly.

Damn.

Disadvantages of a mind-reader Best Friend.

"OK. Let's Leave." NK said with an uncertain expression.

Sheetal was waiting for Us at the Amusement Park.

I had decided to behave nicely with Her in spite of her over friendly behavior with Arnav.

The Amusement Park was packed as I had expected. There were balloons of different colors, food stalls and of course, rides.

"WOW... It's been so long since I have come to an Amusement Park." I squealed as We made our Way towards the Main gate of the Park.

Arnav handed over our passes to the guard at the Main gate.

"So... Where do We begin from?" NK squealed making me Smile at His childish antics.

"Bumper Cars??" Sheetal said suddenly, making Me realise that She was with Us too.

"OK... Bumper Cars is our first stop." Arnav said taking My hand in His and leading Us to the area.

I was happy that Arnav had started warming up to NK.

The whole thing was fun with Arnav and NK bumping into Me and making Me laugh crazily.

"Wooah...That was FUN!" NK screamed making many heads turn as We came out of the play area.

Just then NK grabbed My hand and dragged Me towards the Game booths.

I turned behind to call Arnav and Sheetal.

At the same time, Sheetal leaned and whispered something in Arnav's ears making Arnie erupt in laughter.

I swear I felt my skin crawl at the sight.

It's not that Sheetal was bad but I did not want Arnav to laugh on any of Her jokes.

He was My Best Friend.!!!

"Winnie the Pooh or Kung Fu Panda??" NK questioned after We came to a stand still in front of a game booth.

"Monsters.Inc." I replied distractedly looking at the approaching Arnav and Sheetal.

"Princess, I am not talking about Your favorite Movie. I am talking about which soft toy do You want?" NK said in an agitated tone.

"OH... Winnie the Pooh." I said pointing at the toy.

"I will play too... Khushi, What do You want??" Arnav asked taking one of the rings.

"Khushi wants Winnie the Pooh...I am getting that for Her. You ask Sheetal... She may want something too." NK said and winked at Sheetal.

"Oooh...Definitely. I would like the Kung Fu Panda." Sheetal squealed while Arnav gave a nod.

"OK...Let's See... Who wins." NK said looking at Arnav.

It was not long enough before a crowd started pulling in for cheering Arnav and NK.

Guys and their Big Fat Egos.!

"Urrghh... !" Arnav groaned loudly.

"Yes!!! Yes!! YES!!" NK squealed raising His hands as if in surrender.

Clearly, NK had won the round and Arnav was not too happy about it.

"Here is Your Winnie the Pooh, Princess." NK said and handed Me a Huge stuffed bear while Arnav looked like He would just tear the toy apart.

"Its Okay, Arnie...You can win on the next booth." Sheetal whined in her sickly sweet voice.

ARNIE??

That's my nickname for Arnav.

Sheetal can't possibly use that nickname for Arnav.

Arnav did not care about this situation at all which made Me feel more agitated.

"Come On... Let's Go to the Next booth." Arnav said looking at NK in a challenging manner.

The next stand was the Throw-a-Ball.

"Wooohooo !!" Arnav screamed as all the cans came toppling down with His one shot.

"Damn." NK said and banged His hand on the table when His can arrangement did not move at all.

"Its Okay, NK...The Best Guy wins in the end." Arnav smirked and gave the Kung Fu Panda to Sheetal.

"Awww.. The Toy is as cute as the Best Guy."
Sheetal cooed while looking at Arnav.

"Oh..Thank You, Sheetal. At least someone here thinks I am Cute." Arnav said looking at Me pointedly.

I opened My mouth to retort but NK interrupted, "Come On Guys, I am very Hungry...Lets grab some lunch."

NK grabbed My hand and started walking towards the heavily crowded food court.

I felt someone grab my other hand and saw Arnav smiling down at Me.

I smiled back at Him and gripped His hand tighter.

The crowd was growing thicker and thicker every minute.The food court was bustling with people and activities.

"Come On, Princess." NK said pulling Me forward between the crowd.

A huge crowd of teenagers walked towards Us and bumped on Me making Me loose My hold on Arnav's hand.

"Arnie!! " I screamed looking back at Arnav who seemed lost in the crowd.

"Happiness!!" Arnav screamed while trying to pass between the hoards of people.

"Princess...Keep walking forward. People will bump on You and even We might get separated." NK said clutching My hand tighter.

"NK...Arnie is--" I said and glanced behind to see Arnav shielding Sheetal from the crowd.

"Pheewww... Are You okay, Princess??" NK questioned when We were in a clear space of the food court.

"We lost Arnie and Sheetal..." I said looking around for them.

A pang of pain jolted My body when Arnav had left My hand and now that pain had engulfed my heart very badly.

I saw Arnav walk towards Us along with Sheetal, holding hands.

My heart pained with an unknown feeling when I saw their connected hands as if My heart had lumped in My throat.

"Happiness!!" Arnav screamed and ran towards Me while loosening His hand from Sheetal.

This little action made Me release a sigh of relief and I felt better.

"Are You okay??" Arnav said while engulfing Me in a bear hug.

"Yeah..I am fine." I lied quickly so that Arnav would not read my disturbed mind.

"For a minute there I thought I had lost You." Arnav said gripping Me tightly.

"Do Not worry... I am FINE!" I said.

"Thanks To Arnav... I was scared that I would get lost in the crowd." Sheetal exclaimed interrupting our moment.

"You are Welcome anytime." Arnav said and smiled at Her.

That SMILE was MINE!

ME!

His Best Friend.

Arnie reserved that breath-taking smile for Me.

Why is He giving that to Her??

Why am I getting irritated if He did?

"Let's Go and grab some FOOD!" NK said.

"Umm... I think You Guys carry on without Me.I have a severe head ache coming on." I said trying not to look at Arnav.

"Whats wrong, Happiness.???" Arnav questioned in concern.

"What's wrong, Princess??" NK said while His hand came up to check My forehead for temperature.

I stepped back not letting Him check My forehead and said, "NK, Can You please take Me Home??"

"Happiness...If You are not feeling well...I will take You Home?" Arnav said with hurt in his eyes.

"NO... You carry on with Sheetal... You Guys have a lot to catch up on." I said trying not to sound sarcastic.

"If You are not well... We can come here some other time." Sheetal said with concern in Her voice.

Aww...I genuinely felt guilty looking at Her worried face.

I tried to smile and said, "I am Fine... NK will take Me Home.You Guys have fun."

Arnav grabbed My hand and said, "Happiness.. Even I can take You Home, Right??"

The hurt in his eyes made My heart falter but made My resolve hard.

"Sorry, Arnie. Sheetal needs someone to take Her back too... and anyway NK is dropping me Home...See You tomorrow." I said and walked away from Him.

I glanced behind to see Arnav staring at Me with a mixture of sadness and hurt.

I feel awful.

No, Not Awful but GUILTY.

Its not Arnav's fault but I really feel bad about the way He is behaving with Sheetal.

Arrrghh!!!

I don't even know what this feeling called.

'JEALOUSY '... My sub conscience screamed.

Pfft! Why would I feel jealous of Sheetal???

Urrggh!

My head is really hurting now and I think I should just roll off to sleep.
