Mayank does not give his semester exams. Nupur crying over their broken friendship. She wants him back in life. Sam tricks nupur and helps her in finding mayank in hospital. Mayank angry with Nupur.

PART 20:

M: tum yaha kyu aayi ho?

N: apne dost se milne...

M(smiling sarcasticaly): dost???? Kaunsa dost????? Jisse tumne chod diya tha??? Woh bhi tab jab mujhe ek dost ki bahut zyaada zaroorat thi...

N: mayank...jo hua woh...

M: woh tum nahi badal sakti nupur...so don't even try...mera koi dost nahi...please just go away...

Saying this he went and stood near the window.

Nupur went to him and held his hand. Mayank refused to look at her. She made mayank face her.

N(looking in his eyes): dekho mayank...tum se dur tumhari best friend bhi khush nahi thi...jitni taklif tumhe hui hai utni mujhe bhi hui hai...jis situation mein maine yeh decision liya tha please usse samjho mayank...tum nahi jaante main har pal kitna royi hu...maine tumhe bahut miss kiya hai mayank...please mujhe maaf kar do...please mujhe mera friend lauta do...

Nupur had tears in her eyes. Even mayank's heart was melting. A lone tear passed his eye. But than he recalled the night when he had gone to her house. He recalled all the pain he went through. Anger filled his body yet again. He shrugged her.

M: nahi nupur...tumhara koi dost hai hi nahi jo main lauta saku...tumhe pata hai tumne mujhe kitna dard diya hai...isiliye main kabhi dost nahi banata...aur jab banaya toh tum jaisi ladki ko banaya...aisi ladki jisse dosti nibhane se darr lagta hai...pehle mujhse dosti ki aur fir yeh dosti tod ke chali gayi...woh bhi uss samay jab main andar se toot chuka tha...tumhe idea bhi hai ki mujhpe kya beeti hai...main poora semester nahi de paaya...the mayank sharma exams nahi de paya...peechle ek mahine se ghar pe baitha hu...college ki padhaai, practicals sab miss kar raha hu...pata nahi kya hoga...ab preliums ke liye khud padhna hai...aur inn sab ke beech jab ek dost ki bahut zaroorat thi toh tum toh thi hi nahi nupur...meri dost hone ka daawa kiya aur mujhe chod diya...

(Holding her by shoulders)

M: toot chuka hu main nupur...darr hai ki shayad main normal nahi ho paoga...kabhi nahi...tumhara dost ab nahi bacha nupur...main life mein akela hi theek hu...chali jao aur dubara mat lautna...JUST GO!!!!!

Nupur was crying while listening to all this. She realized Mayank was broken and too stressed. Not giving exams was a big thing for mayank. And over that the emotional trauma through which he went because of her was too much. She felt very bad. She failed as a friend. She could not support her friend when he needed her the most. Unable to bear the pain nupur ran out of the hospital.

On her way out she dashed with mayank's mom. Mayank's mom and sam were shocked on looking at nupur in tears.

MM: nupur beta kya hua?

N: aunty I failed...I failed as a friend...Maine mayank ko bahut dukh diya hai...woh mujhe kabhi maaf nahi karega...usse meri itni zaroorat thi and main uske paas nahi thi...I have failed aunty...Main bahut buri hu...sab kuch khatam ho gaya...

MM(hugging her): ssshhh beta...shaant ho jao...sshhh..

Sam made her drink water.

MM: ab meri baat dhyaan se suno Nupur...Mayank ne bachpan mein hi apne dad ko kho diya tha...tabse usse logo se darr lagta hai...woh apne paas kissi ko nahi aane deta yeh darr se ki agar woh insaan usse chod de toh woh toot jaayega...woh dikhata nahi par woh andar se bahut kamzor hai...usse lagta hai agar log dur rahege toh kabhi kisiko khone ka darr nahi rahega..isliye woh logo ko dikhata hai ki woh bahut sadu arrogant hai...fir uski life mein tum aayi Nupur...bahut koshish ki usne tumse dur rehne ki par aakhir tumne usse apna dost bana hi liya...tumhe dekh ke mujhe umeed thi ki shayad ab mera beta thoda normal ho jaayega...life jeene lagega...but tum log ke beech problems hue jisse woh khud ko blame kar raha tha ki he does not deserve anyone in life...woh fir toot gaya...usne decide kiya woh ab kabhi dost nahi banayega...tumhe bhi dubara uski life mein nahi aane dega...par nupur tum haar nahi sakti...tumhe uski life mein dubara aana hoga...usko life jeena sikhana hoga...yeh kaam sirf tum kar sakti ho beta...

N(wiping her tears): don't worry aunty...mayank ki life mein ab nupur dubara zaroor aayegi...main uski dosti nahi chod sakti...iss diwali pe aapko aapka beta aur mujhe mera best friend dubara milega...I promise you aunty...main mayank ko iss depression se bahar zaroor nikalugi...

Sam: aur ussmein tumhari help karega tumhara crime-in-partner Samrat.

N: done!!!

MM: mujhe tumse yeh hi umeed thi beta...thank you so much!!! kal subah mayank ko discharge mil jaayega...tum kal usse milna...abhi ghar jao beta bahut late ho gaya hai..

N: jee aunty...bye...take care...

Sam: bye nupur...don't worry main tumhare sadu friend ka dhyaan zaroor rakhuga.

AT HOME:

Nupur went home and told everything to Gunjan.

G: dii ab mayank theek toh hai na?

N: physically theek hai par mentally bahut stressed hai...ghar baithe baithe uska dimaag kharab ho gaya hai...maana woh exams nahi de paaya par inn exams se kya farak padta hai humare liye toh boards important hai...yeh semesters toh sirf dekhne ke liye kaun padhaai karta hai aur kaun nahi...woh toh waise bhi first hi aata yeh teachers ko bhi pata hai...aur uss pe humara problem...yeh sab sochke woh bahut depress ho gaya hai...

G: toh dii ab kya karogi aap?

N: ab apne sadu dost ko iss depression se bahar nikalna hai...usse batana hai ki Nupur Bhushan uski friend hai forever and ever.

G: kaise dii?

N(winking at her): diwali holidays hai Gunjan...humme mayank ke ghar toh jaana hi padega na to help his mom in decorating house and to celebrate...

G(smiling): sure dii...I am ready...main sabko bolti hu kal se hum sab Mayank ke ghar rahege...to help his mom and celebrate diwali days with him...

N: waise bhi Uncle yaha nahi hai...main tum dia aur Uday udhar shift ho hi sakte hai for Diwali...Benji ko bhi bula dena dia will be so happy...and tere liye tera samrat bhi udhar hi hoga (winking at her)

G(showing big eyes): dii??? Samrat sirf mera dost hai...bahut acha dost aur kuch nahi...

N: are you sure???? Maine pehle toh tujhe kissi dost ke saath itna time spend karte nahi dekha..

G: dii aisa kuch nahi hai...exams thi and sam ko darr tha woh fail ho jaayega because usne kuch padhaai nahi ki thi...isliye I was helping him as a friend...

N: are you sure only as a friend??

G: dii aap bhi toh mayank ke saath itna time spend karti ho...maine kabhi aap pe doubt kiya???? Nahi na??? mujhe pata hai aapke life mein koi special aayega tab aap khud mujhe bataaoge...aur meri life mein koi special aayega tab main aapko bataogi...

N: chal theek hai maan li teri baat...waise bhi abhi toh hum chote hai...main 17 and tum sweet 16...humara prince charming toh tab aayega jab hum 20 cross kar lenge...

G: aisa kyu dii?

N: kyunki shayad tab humme samjhega ki humara partner exactly kaisa hona chahiye...thodi zyaada maturity hogi insaan ko samajhne ki...

G: haa dii...theek kaha aapne...matlab aap next three years baad apne partner ko leke serious honge???

N: haa Gunjan...boards khatam hone ke baad naye course mein main apna partner sochugi...lekin abhi ke liye boards' important hai...aur usse bhi important mayank ko manana hai...

G: don't worry dii...5 days mayank ke ghar hai...I am sure hum sab milke usse mana lenge...main dia aur uday ko bolti hu packing karne ke liye.

Nupur took the mickey in hand.

N: mickey tumhe pata hai hum kal humare dost ke paas jaa rahe hai...i hope kal woh sadu hum dono ko apna le...

NEXT MORNING:

Mayu's mom and Samrat bought Mayank home. As planned everyone had already arrived in the house and were eagerly waiting for mayank to come back home. As soon as the doorbell rang nupur ran to open the door.

Nupur took a deep breath and opened the door. There stood mayank who was searching something in his pocket. Mayu's mom and Sam were standing right behind him with a smile. Sam winked at nupur and nupur showed a thums up.

N: ahem ahem

Mayu looked up with the noise and was shocked to see Nupur standing at the door.

M: TUM???? TUM YAHA KYA KAR RAHI HO???? TUM YAHA KYU AAYI HO???

N(closing her ears): uffo...kitna chilla rahe ho...kaun bolega tum hospital se laute ho...uff mere kaan...shaanti se mayu...shaanti se(smiling)

M: par tum yaha aayi kyu ho???

G(from behind): sirf yeh nahi...main bhi hu yaha...hum sab yaha hai...

Everyone stood at door welcoming Mayank. Mayank was shocked on looking at everyone standing at the door.

M: tum sab yaha kya kar rahe ho??

N: iske 2 reasons hai mayu...reason number 1 tum hospital mein sadh rahe the toh hum sab ne socha tumhara mood thoda theek kar de surprise deke...and reason number 2 samrat ne humme yaha invite kiya to celebrate diwali so hum sab apni bags leke aa gaye apne friend ke saath diwali spend karne.

Mayu looked at sam with daggers. Sam gave a small innocent smile.

M: main diwali celebrate nahi karta so koi zaroorat nahi yaha rukne ki..

Mayu's mom pinched him for acting so rude with guests.

N: shayad tumne suna nahi mayu...hum humare friend ke saath diwali spend karne aaye hai...humara friend samrat...jo unfortunately issi ghar mein rehta hai...so you don't have any option...

She showed mayu a victorious smile. Mayu didn't know what to stay.

Mayu's mom: ha ha beta...yeh tumhara hi ghar hai...acha kiya tum sab yaha aa gaye...ab kamse kam mujhe iss sadu ke saath diwali nahi manani padegi...

Mayu looked at his mom with anger.

M: fine...tum yaha reh sakti ho...par yaad rakhna mujhse dur rehna and mujhe mayu mat bulana...

N: tumhara ghajini ho gaya kya??? Short term memory loss??? Maine toh tumhari permission maangi hi nahi...aunty ne permission de di woh kaafi hai humare liye...Mr. Sadu.

Mayank was angry. He tried getting into house when nupur stopped him.

M(irritated): kya hua??? Ab ghar mein entry lene ke liye bhi meri maa se permission lu??

N: nahi nahi...tum bhi na mayu itne gadhe ho...ruko ek minute...gunjan zara woh thali toh dena...

Gunjan passed aarti thali to nupur.

M: ab yeh kya hai???

N: arrey tum itni badi jung lad ke aaye ho...hospital se aaye ho...I am sure tumhari nazar toh utaarni hi padegi...aur fir jab ram ji apne ayodhya laute the raavan ko maarke tab unka bhi toh aise hi swagat kiya tha...

M: haha very funny...mujhe yeh sab bilkul pasand nahi hai...yeh nautanki mere saamne mat karna...chalo mera raasta chodo...

Nupur looked at Mayu's mom for help.

MM: beta yeh tum kya kar rahe ho?? Aarti ki thali ka aise apmaan nahi karte...buri baat hai..

Mayu fumed with anger.

M: fine!!!!!! Jo karna hai jaldi karo...

Nupur did his aarti and was constantly looking at him with sorry face. Mayu noticed her eyes asking forgiveness. But he looked back at them coldly. Nupur realized the friendly feelings mayu had for her was missing. She had vowed to bring those feelings back.

Gunjan pinched her as nupur was still going on doing the aarti. She came back on earth and stopped. She put tikka on mayu's forehead and welcomed him home.

Mayu saw a welcome rangoli was made for him at the door. He felt happy on seeing it.

MM: arrey waah yeh rangoli toh bahut khubsoorat hai...kisne banayi??

G: dii ne banayi hai...

MM: bahut achi hai beta...

N: thanks aunty...

Nupur looked at Mayu to know his reaction. He coldly went from there displaying no feelings.

MM: thanks beta...tum mayu ke liye itna kuch kar rahi ho...

N: aunty iss mein thanks ki kya baat hai...main jo bhi kar rahi hu apne dost ko wapas paane ke liye kar rahi hu..

MM: so beta you are all set with the plan??

N: yes aunty...completely...abhi dekhna theek 10 seconds mein mere plan ka first phase shuru ho jaayega...

10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...

MAAA... Mayu was screaming from his room. Nupur gave a mischievous smile to aunty.
