FF : Spending nights with Mr. Raizada
Chapter 6 :
It was 9:45. No known figure came from that door. No phone calls rang his cell. No messaged beamed. Only silence and self pity covered this innocent soul who made his way outside the cinema hall, eyes filled with tears of gloom.
Arnav kept his head down, as if he has done some shameful crime...tears filling and falling from his eyes. He never looked up and cursed himself for being such a pathetic husband.
His legs were involuntary today. He felt weak, helpless, distressed. Probably his feet, which was taking this being everywhere, everyday was also tired today. Tired of everyday problem, crying and cursing...that's why it almost took him to mouth of death! As Arnav was walking with his head down, he didn't notice the green light of traffic signal and started crossing the road. He was crossing, absent mindedly, when his chain of thoughts was broken by horn of car that was speeding towards him. Before he could think of running to save himself, a hand pulled him off the road, resulting his saviour, landing over him...both of them lying and hugging each other on side road.
"Crazy man! Didn't you notice the red light for pedestrians!", shouted one spectator.
"If she was not there, he would have been lying in hospital...probably on death bed.", said another.
"You are lucky!", said the third one.
Like this people first crowded around them, passed some comments and then, moved on. Arnav was still hugging his saviour.. who was trembling more than him. Slowly, both part away to recognise one another. As the lady, moved a bit away from him, he saw trembling Khushi. Her hands were still on his shoulder, clutching it very tightly, almost pinching him. Khushi somehow whispered,
"Are you okay?"
Arnav nodded in yes. Then, both helped each other to back on their feet. They made eye contact for a while and in hoarse voice Arnav said,
"Thanks again!" and he turned around and went away, with Khushi's hand dangling behind , to stop him. She said nothing and let him go. She felt pity to see his him, trying to get lost in dark streets. She turned and made her way to her destination.
As usual, in distress, the only place Arnav knew, he can cry as much he wants to was Rose Garden. We went there and sat down on a random bench. He then, covered his face with his hands and finally broke down. His cries continued until, he felt someone's hand, caressing his head. He removed his hands from his face and looked up. Everything was hazy due to tears, so he cleared and found her again.
Khushi stood there, her eyes too filled with tears. Arnav said nothing and while sitting he wrapped his hands around her waist, his head resting on her tummy and cried loudly...her saree soaking his pain. No words were exchanged, nothing was expressed...just loud sobs were led out, he snuggling more into her, and she caressing his head more n more.
After sometime, he realised his position. He felt awkward and slowly parted from her. Khushi felt him drifting away from her and loosened her hands too. She shifted a little back from him, to allow him to get up.
He stood up and looked towards other side. Khushi then hesitantly, turned him towards her, rose her hands and wiped off his tear. Then, holding his shoulders said..
"Mr. Raizada, Listen to me! Just go to your home and try to pacify your wife."
Arnav said in hoarse tone, " Whom should I go and pacify? My wife? Who don't even know, that a guy, her husband, her love was waiting for her. Who doesn't know how it felt when I kept waiting for the moment to be with her and only her. who...", Khushi hushed him.
"Shh...". Arnav turned his head towards other side. Khushi again turned his head towards her and spoke softly,
"Listen to me, I don't want to interfere in your matters Mr. Raizada. Just do one thing, Go home and I am sure you are gonna find her there. Talk to her, discuss and you both sort out the things! Marriage is all about adjustments."
"I won't", he contradicted.
"Arnavji, Please!", for the first time she spoke her name. Arnav thought for a while and then nodded in agreement. He wiped his tears and her's too...which was still there, since the time he was crying. He began to go when he became curious how she ended up there. He stopped and asked her,
"How did you end up coming here?"
She smiled and said, " I told my hubby that I want to buy vegetables and he allowed me to go out."
"Vegetables? At this time? Doesn't he know veggies are not available at this time?", he smirked.
"He did question. But, I am more intelligent than him. Told him that he belong to small town and never visited big town, like I did so, I know that veggies are sold at this hour of night!", she giggled. Arnav gave a faint smile and made his way to his house, with a hope to find La there. He rung the bell and waited.
No response.
Arnav took out duplicate key from his pocket and opened the door.
"La", he called out.
No response.
"La", still nothing. He went to their and knocked. Still no one responded. He checked the door and it was open. He opened it only to find it empty. He glanced at his wrist watch. It was 12:30 and she was no where to be seen. He then tried her cell but it was switched off. He sat down on sofa and started waiting for her. He didn't know when he dozed off while waiting for her.
It was 7am when he woke up. He looked here and there, still no sign of La. He checked whole house but couldn't find her. He was about to call her, when his boss' call came. He asked Arnav to come soon, so he bathed quickly and rushed towards the office, without having his breakfast, yet again. He was welcomed by smiling Khushi. He too smiled back.
She then turned around to pick up required files from table and said..
"Okay Mr. Raizada, Biggy Boss told me what I have to prepare and..
*THUD*
She stopped as she heard a thud voice.
"Did you hear something sir?", she said while looking here and there.
"Sir?"
No response. She turned around and what she saw, almost life from her. There on the floor lied his weak, unconscious body.
"SIR!!", she almost shouted. She got on her knees and started rubbing his hands.
"ARNAVJI! Pls open ur eyes! Arnavji", she shook him but he wasn't responding. Her voice was heard outside and Arnav's colleague rushed in to help her. Khushi rushed to the table and picked up glass of water. She ran towards him and sprinkled some water.
"ARNAVJII" , she was constantly calling him. After much sprinkling, he gained some concious.
"Khu..khushi...", he said in weak voice. Khushi immediately put the glass aside and with help of other employee helped him to sit in nearby chair. By the time doctor was called. He examined him and told,
"It seems that he had nothing for past many hours...also he's taking too much of stress and less sleep. I advice, that he should take proper care!"
After prescribing medicines doc left.
"I think Arnav, you should go back home. Take leave from office for atleast 5 days and take care! You deserve a holiday. I'll ask someone else to take your responsibilities.", His boss advised.
"But.."
"No ifs and but Mr. Raizada. As boss said, you are going home. THAT IT", Khushi said, while glaring at him. Arnav looked at his boss, who smiled at her anger towards him and shrugged...giving him "I can't help it" expression.
"Ok", Arnav whispered to his angry P.A.😆
As Arnav's boss began to move, Khushi called out.. ," Biggy Boss! If you don't mind can we borrow your driver, who would drop Mr. Raizada to his house...not in your car...in Arnavji's car." Arnav's eye popped out as he heard her demanding driver from HIS boss. His boss looked at him, smiled and nodded in yes.
"Thank you!", said Khushi.
"Lets go!", she said and helped Arnav to get on his feet and helped him to settle in his car and both went to his house. Arnav was feeling really weak, so Khushi was giving him support. She rung the bell, to which Arnav said...
"She's not home since last evening. Take this keys and open.", he said. Khushi took the keys and was about to open, when door was opened up from inside by someone. As the door got fully open, Mrs. Raizada came into view.
La was home now and opened the door for them. As she opened the door and found Arnav leaning over a girl, her anger knew no bounds...but she said nothing.
"La?", Arnav said in a weak voice. Before he could say anything further, Khushi spoke..
"Hello Mrs. Raizada! I am Khushi, Arnav sir's P.A. Actually he fainted in office so, I just came to help him...can I come in?"
La shifted aside and allowed her to take Arnav to his room. Arnav was worried about La's reaction. After Khushi rested him on bed, she directly made her way outside their house. After she was out of sight, La shouted..
"You have a new P.A. and that also a girl!Oh! and you never felt like telling me that! Of course, I don't mean anything to you Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada!"
He lied there, in silence...grief filling up his heart again. He was not alone who was hearing all this...One more poor soul was standing there..who came back just to return Arnav's wallet which had fallen down in his car in the process of taking him home. She stood there, eyes welling up with tears, feeling pity for that poor soul!
