The guests had left. PaYash's wedding was over, and the Payal's grihpravesh had just finished and emotions were running high in Shantivan. No one seemed to notice the tension between Arnav and Khushi.
Arnav was frustrated. How could Khushi just act as if nothing happened? She was laughing, running around and joking with everybody. And inexplicably, her second condition made him uncomfortable. Her cold tone and choice of words scared him... He ran his fingers through his hair frustratedly.
Moments later, he felt her beside him. He turned to look at her and was met by her unfaltering gaze and unsmiling face. "Tell them now. I want this over and done with quickly," she told him and walked away from there.
He stared at her retreating back and watched her dead-pan mask fall off to give way to her cherful self again. She looked at him once more, gesturing with a slight nod of her head.
Arnav was a bit apprehensive; it wasn't like he was afraid his family would disagree...he knew well that this was what Di and Nani had wanted. What he felt worried about was Khushi's demeanour...That confidence in her voice, and a strange tone that seemed to mock him that she knew something he didn't...
He went to the center of the hall, and cleared his throat.
His family turned to look at him expectantly. "I-I have an announcement to make. I finally made a choice. Di, Nani...I know both of you wanted this..." he paused, gauging everyone's confused look and Khushi's unreadable expression.
He continued. "Me and Khushi are ready to get married"
MONTH ONE---->The Wedding
WEEK 1-Shagun
DAY 1
A normal day at RM. Everyone relaxing after a tiring wedding, and gearing up for the second wedding to come.
DAY 2
Evening-
"I am so happy Nani. Akash got married yesterday, and today we are taking shagun for our Chhote's bride." Anjali said excitedly.
Nani nodded in agreement, while Mami, though grumbling about the 'Gupta Sisters', helped with preparations.
Arnav was restless. Today was the first day of their six months marriage... It was his deal, he thought, but the why did it feel as if the ball was in Khushi's court! Frustrated, he flung his mobile on the bed.
"Saale Saab, what kind of joke is this?" he heard Shyam saying angrily. He looked up to find his pathetic excuse of a Jijaji standing in the doorway of his room, seething in his anger. Forgetting his unease for a moment, he smirked at Shyam. " 'Jijaji', this is no a joke...It is my wedding."
"Khushiji is mine! You understand that? And-" Shyam started, but Arnav reached him in two strides and caught hold of his collar.
"In case you are forgetting, Khushi is now going to become MINE. And you will see the worst of me if I catch you within a radius of ten meters from her!" With that, he pushed Shyam out of the room and closed the door on his face.
There was no way he was foing to let his Di shatter again. Anyways, who cares about her second condition... He DID NOT WANT her around after six months...
He stayed in his room while the rest of the family went with the Shagun to GH after Anjali told him that the bridegroom's presence is not allowed.
ONE AND A HALF HOUR LATER
Arnav heard the living room filled with chatter. Everyone was busy talking about the wedding. Arnav went down and Anjali turned to him. "You know Chhote, Khushiji looked so pretty today... And God, how much she was blushing all the while!" Anjali laughed.
Blushing? This confused Arnav even more...He was sure she wasn't happy with this marriage... Then, why...
"Di, I have some work. I will be back by ten" Arnav said thoughtfully as he took the keys to his car, without waiting for a reply. There were too many unanswered questions... How had Khushi agreed so quickly? Why didn't she ask him WHY it was for just six months? He had made it clear that he did not love her... Well, that's what he made her see at least...
Lost in Khushi's thoughts, he did not realize he had driven to Laxmi Nagar, and was right outside the window to Khushi's room. Curious, he propped himself to straighter posture and peeked in.
Khushi was staring at her reflection in the mirror, and her hand was grazing her cheek. Arnav, with surprise, had realized that her cheeks were still reddened. He was confused... But then, Khushi's next action explained it all to him. He saw her take a wad of white cloth and dip it in a bowl next to her. She brought the cloth to her face and rubbed it thoroughly, not letting Arnav a glimpse of her face for a few seconds. When she DID remove the cloth from her face, he saw that the red was gone, and was instead replaced by a pale white shade.
Arnav realized that she'd had make up on. Since when did Khushi put make up, he mused. He watched her come to the window and stiffened, but relaxed when he realized she hadn't seen him. She rested her elbows on the window sill, and looked up at the sky, her eyes slightly moist. She brought her fisted right hand in front of her face, and unfurled the fingers. There was something in it that Arnav couldn't see. She stared at it with wet eyes for a few seconds and then closed her eyes tightly. What she did next surprised him... She kissed her closed fist, and then threw it out of the window with all her might. He saw something glint silver in the air and fall in front of his car.
Her eyes flew open and he could see regret on her face.
He could make out what she was saying. "Hey Devi Maiyya, why did I do that! It was from the second time we..." she trailed off. "We? There was never a we... Its a good thing I threw it away. I don't want any reminders." she told herself and backed out from the window.
After Khushi went in, Arnav silently got down from his car and made his way to where he felt the silver thing had fallen. He searched for a moment and saw something glint again between few blades of grass. He bent and picked it up. He examined it under the moonlight, and realized that it was key... A small silver key.
DAY 3,4,5,6,7
Days of personal hell for Arnav...Khushi devoid of emotions around him. Made no attempt to talk to him and avoided him whenever circumstances allowed it. He was dying to ask what that key was...
Um Guys, each month will have four parts- Week 1,2,3,4. I would like to split week into day 1-7, but i will go mental if I try that :P And have frequent blocks And one more thing... I won't be giving the WHOLE week in detail... Just the important stuff kay?
