"I'm rather inclined to liking men" - Khushi Kumari Gupta
"So what happened? How on earth did mother find out?" Payal asked in a hush tone.
"Oh Payal! Loserface asked me to show my boobs! I feel like an idiot...what the hell was he thinking?! I thought he was a friend. He is a jackass" Khushi mixed the butter and flour.
"He did what?!" Payal yelled.
"Sshhh! You dont want ma hearing! Anyways so I was yelling at him and didnt notice ma coming from behind. By the time I noticed her she read the name! I closed the window and signed out. I dont understand how she knew homy was a guy's name...it could have been a girl..."
"You are ridiculous. I cant believe you did that. Did you delete your account?"
"Yeah I did and it was a fake one so no need to worry. He has no info on me"
"Atleast you learnt a lesson! Go get ready now, people will be coming anytime!" Payal shooed her from the kitchen.
~~~
khushi kept going into the kitchen for the past hour. It had been a year since she last saw him...which was for literally two seconds. He was here eating food with her cousins at the breakfast table.
Oh she so wanted him to look at her. What more could she do than appearing in the kitchen every ten minutes?
Good she had a big family and the house was full and noisy or else Garima would have noticed her daughter's antics and flipped.
"One last try Khushi" she said to herself and walked into the kitchen again.
She tossed her straight shoulder length hair to the side and pulled on her blue cardigan before picking up the huge platter of cookies and taking it to the table he was sitting on.
"Boysss guess what's here!" she cheerfully asked and placed the platter in the center, purposely bending close to him and brushing her hair against his shoulder.
"Oh hey Arnav! Didnt notice it was you...sorry!" she turned and gave him the fakest innocent smile ever.
"Hey" he said and took a bite of the mashed potatoes.
"How is the food?" she asked genuinely...not, she just wanted to make a conversation.
"It's great" he replied through a mouth full.
Khushi stood next to him her arms folded and a fixed smile on her face.
"Well it was nice seeing you after so long" she said curtly and left not before tossing her hair again.
Who knows hair might do the charm!
Later at night Khushi was up on her laptop browsing and chatting with cousins.
She sighed at the event that ended a while ago. He did not care!
"Why am I like that?!" she cried to herself.
That man, my readers, was Arnav Singh Raizada. My only realistic crush. No, not a crush...there is no crush in my dictionary. One has a crush on a single person not on persons! If people knew my inner thoughts...I would be dead. I can easily imagine a man without a shirt...oops! Anyways I have a long list of men I like, of course most of them are white, after all I do live in a white country. Would you guys be interested in reading about my crushes...I mean likes? I will tell you anyways.
Curly hair guy - Never found out his name. He had such pretty hair I had to like him! He was my classmate.
Shane - my lab assistant, he well, he was a jerk and a nice guy ( I know doesnt make sense but he was). Was a cute nerd. We flirted through physics.
Brandon - I didnt like him just liked his face. Still do...he is just oh so sexy. My lab partner.
Adam - Another lab assistant. Luckiest person on earth. Man had the looks and the brains. A geniusss! If only I had more time with him I would have talked to him but he graduated.
Jordan - Another lab partner, another genius and had height. Six feet tall! My my! My heart would expand that long when I used to see him but then I figured he would make me do all the work while he just sat! Punk!
Greg - OMG. Girls I am advicing you from experience. Do not fall for black men's niceness. They are losers. This man was sooo kind and even complimented me on my perfume. Thats it right then I melted. I loveee perfumes and when one likes it I go all, all, all stupid! He has a girlfriend! Loooser.
And now the most real and never gonna happen,
Arnav - met him when I first came to U.S. He was the most annoying boy I had ever met. Then I found out he didnt have a mother so I started to be nice. Years later we met in India and thats when my heart started to beat. His long hair, tall and muscular built, those tanned hairy legs...gosh he was the definition of man! Time passed and then for the past three years he would show his face only once a year. His dad and sister are completely opposite him, they come over so much but he doesnt! Oh he also has his own business in the fashion industry. Strong, independent, and good looks, who wouldnt fall for him?
There that was the list. Now dont judge me! I just liked them...I didnt do anything so that doesnt make a wh**e or anything! Just saying. Cant have you all hating on me when I will be needing you guys. After all gotta get Arnav's attention! Dont we? The God is in town! Yesss!
She somehow had to find out his common hang out places. She after all had to act upon one of the men she liked...right?
Her family wouldnt let her marry non Indian so she had no choice but Arnav!
~~~
"Tell meee!" Khushi cried over the phone.
Desperate Miss Gupta had called up her cousin who was secretly good friends with Arnav.
There was something that happened with him. She didnt know what and she had to find out!
"Why do you want to know Khushi?" her cousin's voice vibrated over her ear.
"I just do. I think he is cute and I am interested. Want to know more?" she asked annoyed.
"You do know Khushi its not going to work out"
"Why not! Gosh will you tell me already?!" her voice was piercingly loud.
"Girlll half our family doesnt even like him! Its impossible"
"Shradh!" Khushi growled.
"Look he trusted me. I cant tell you what happened. All I know is that a girl was involved" Shraddha refused to speak anymore.
"What? Thats it! A girl. Gosh Shradh! Which boy or girl didnt have a past. It was a past right? Does he still like the girl...?"
"No no Khushi, dont do anything stupid!" she cried.
"Dont worry babe, what can I do? At least right now I cant do anything...I am innocently walking down the hallway to my cla- OH MY GOD!"
"What happened?"
"He is here! Oh my god Oh my god. I gotta go!" Khushi whispered in a rush.
"No Khushi!"
But smart Khushi ignored her cousin and casually entered the elevator.
"Oh hey!" she smiled too brightly.
"Hi" he smiled back.
"What are you doing at school?"
"Came to return something to a friend"
"Ohh okay"
They rode in silence and Khushi's heart could not stop fluttering. She was all alone with Arnav! Oh how could she do anything to have this elevator stop!
The saying 'be careful with what you wish for because you just might get it' is indeed very true!
Khushi put her entire weight on her feet as the elevator made loud rusty sounds and shook a little. Her heart beat in a second switched it's reason from Arnav to reality...the elevator. She had seen this particular one out of order so many times.
She didnt even know if she was claustrophobic. What if she died? She couldnt!
The lights blinked twice and shut off except one, that alone instead went dim.
"Oh crap we are really going down arent we?" Khushi asked in a fearful voice.
"Hold on to the walls. I will try the emergency stop" he said and pressed a button.
"This elevator is so old and slow I doubt the button will wo-"
"Yep its not working" he said without a trace of nervousness.
Khushi shut her eyes tight as she heard the smooth sound of the elevator going down its rope and then in a flash it roared loudly and shook roughly sending her flying across in the small box.
A minute later it was dead silent.
