Next season’s contestants - speculations
Honestly, Arnav is too complex and delusional a character - he gave me a headache with the following parts, and I hope you will like it because I'm not too sure :s
Khushi's fears are rooted deeply. Being a constant victim of his destructive temper , his sudden mood changes and his venom-coated words which could sting worse than any physical injury she has started to doubt every word and every little action of his.
The way he would revert to being a ruthless and heartless man just after doing something good has left a huge impact on Khushi. That is the reason for her tensing up on Arnav's arrival. She doesn't want to be hurt by him again.
But here, in this informal setting in the midst of people who had only a few months ago been complete strangers, and were now well on their way to acquiring the elite status of 'family' in his books, Arnav felt completely at sea.
Arnav's inability to loosen up in a informal setting was described beautifully. He is a man , who would go to any lengths to secure his family's happiness but he can't express his love in words nor can he enjoy that happiness with them . He would be there in the sidelines watching their happiness but would not join them. What an exasperating man!
What captivated him the most, though, were the graceful little waves and soft ringlets of the locks tumbling about her, curling up a little at the ends.
I had never thought that a few strands of hair escaping a bun could be the object of such scrutiny or the cause of such thoughts! I am beginning to wonder if these were the thoughts going on in Arnav's mind everytime he was shamelessly staring at Khushi in the show! 😛
He had even grown accustomed to the colourful, fluffy little pompoms often adorning the length of her long braid, which bounded up and down in time to her excited movements.
With those slender hands she secured the shimmery, translucent dupatta precariously over the gentle slope of a shoulder, her bare, anklet-clad feet touching down on the rug with a pleasant tinkle as she murmured to her aunt about something to do with tea and stoves. He watched, with the assiduous attentiveness of an ardent student, as her right hand rose to run its fingers through her thick bangs to sweep them out her eyes, the movement releasing a few more strands from her messy bun...and then with seconds that stretched to hours, he discovered that her slim, milky white wrists were enclosed in only two, thin silver bangles, unlike the colourful, glittery arrays he was used to seeing on her.
He realised that he did not often see her in such pastel shades – it was always loud and vibrant, a step away from garish. It surprised him a little that such light, calm colours befitted her so well.
But that is how intense Arnav's feelings for Khushi are. He notices every small thing about her. From the tinkling of her anklets, the fluttering of her dupatta , the jingling bangles, the jhumkis and so much more.
I was right ,it is NK pushing Arnav!😃
'I thought,' he began again, very deliberately, his tone even and arctic, while black-fire roiled in his gut, 'that you were in bed from jet-lag last night, NK.'
'Though I'm not sure what NK is doing here.'
One of these days Arnav is going to breathe fire through his nose because of NK's antics. Bringing roses for Khushi, chattering and laughing with her when she is hell bent on avoiding Arnav!
All this is only serving to irritate him more.
But this is the only reason why Arnav keeps thinking of Khushi's resolution.
If there is no NK then he would still be bothered but not to this extent. Her closeness to NK while pointedly ignoring him is getting to his nerves and that is why he is reacting in the first place.
I loved NK in A series of most fortunate events and I'm loving him here too. He has his heart in the right place and hopefully his interference will lead to Arnav realizing his true feelings.😊
She was frightened. She was cowering away from something.
And the one-eighty degree turn in her behaviour just now...
...after Arnavji had appeared on their doorstep.
Payal's intuition! Truly she and Khushi are soul sisters. Her concern for Khushi is touching and her perceptiveness commendable.👏
Haha. See? The almighty ASR was eavesdropping. He had not missed the death-glares and the thickening tension and hostility rippling through the air every single time he himself had been too friendly with KhushijiAnd anyway, NK was always in favour of anything to knock Nannav off his high-horse, before his ego got too big to fit in a room.
NK has a much better understanding of Arnav and his ways than Akash maybe even Anjali. But I can't call him Arnav's dil ka tukda for obvious reasons🤣 . So , I'll stop with a perfect cupid.😛Because that is what he is doing.
She had no problems talking to NK, sitting with him, laughing with him, prancing around with him...accepting roses from him...And she had only known him for a few days – days he could count off on his fingers, whereas they had known each other for so much longer...
If not for him Arnav would have never approached Khushi by himself so soon. He is the catalyst behind Arnav's every action now.
'I am thankful, Arnavji, but I really can manage.'
And in his frustration, his hand shot upwards to run agitatedly through his hair-
-and Khushi jumped backwards with a gasp.
Distrust. Doubt.
Fear.
She thought...I was going to hurt her?
The answer was in her eyes.
Khushi's denial to his offer and her fear have finally got him thinking. I didn't think he would regret all his hurtful actions so or he would break his resolution of thinking about Khushi's diary so soon.
But is definitely a good start. And with NK and a stubborn Khushi in picture I am expecting the unexpected to happen!😃
I've lost count of the number of times I've told you this but the amount of detailing you do is amazing, Nafisa. You describe every thought of the characters about even the smallest happenings elaborately .That is what enables your readers to understand the actions of the characters. And it is not just Arnav and Khushi but even the other characters.
You dedicated an entire chapter to highlight the update between Payal and Khushi. And in the chapter where Akash and Arnav were returning home on new year's eve, (which I just realized is the previous day to this gathering! How can so many things happen in just a span of 12-15 hours!!). you described Akash's respect for his bhai and his gratitude in detail . In this chapter you elaborated on Payal's concerns and NK's motives too.👏
Phew! This came out longer than I intended and I didn't even manage to quote all the parts I loved! 😒Never mind I'll post them after I reread chapter 7 and comment!😃
Thank you once again for these long updates!🤗
Khushi's decision not to be bested by Arnav is understandable as, in her words, all he has given her is pain immeasurable! Can relate to Arnav's unease at social dos… for reticent people, it's sheer torture to come up with small talk even amidst one's relatives! 'Today, however, and no sooner than he had set foot over the threshold, his composure had been shot to hell and tossed up in a tornado from Bedlam.' is a nice turn of phrase! I was smitten by the sheer beauty of the description of Khushi's locks and the various hairstyles that add to her ethereal beauty… no wonder Arnav was mesmerised! '…the imbecile with a death-wish' is a good one! Arnav's jealous animosity — though Arnav would never in his wildest dreams deign to give it that name — toward NK has been clearly delineated but is funny, all the same, as the object of his rage is either clueless about or unperturbed by it! NK getting the better of Arnav is a momentous occasion… love how he fearlessly lives life to the fullest! Nice to see Payal noticing the changes in Khushi and Arnav and trying to get to the bottom of things… Arnav's fluctuating emotions and sheer jealousy on seeing Khushi focus solely on NK to the exclusion of everyone else is just epic! Arnav had been swamped by the peculiar sensation that he had just charged through the finish line – only to look back and realise that he had been the only one racing… wow, what an image! Have always liked and respected NK, often even more than Arnav, for being a true friend to Khushi, so am over the moon to read his unflattering views about Arnav and the latter's cluelessness with regard to Khushi! Anger has always been Arnav's defence mechanism against the softer feelings, which make him vulnerable and open to hurt! Hope NK beats some sense into him before he destroys Khushi with his bipolar behaviour! 'But I can't follow her forever. And besides...she is going to her sasural. Everyone there will be family to her. She does not need me to shadow her there.' Looks like these words have given him a clear indication of Khushi's decision to cut off ties and not to be part of his family — a connection he has been imagining and consoling himself with all along! Let's see how the great ASR manages to assuage the hurt and remove the fear he now sees in Khushi's eyes… wonder if Payal will be able to help these seemingly star-crossed lovers before it is too late!
