"Let her go Raizada. She has no clue!"
She looked towards the voice and heaved a sigh of relief. "Abhishekji!"
"Mr Arnav Singh Raizada. I said she has no clue. Let.Her.Go" A tall man with tanned skin came into view, looking steadily at Arnav.
Arnav looked at him. "Varma!"
"Raizada."
"So THIS is how low you could get? Send a random GIRL to ruin me is it? And why is she all dressed up? To ruin my Fashion Show I suppose?" he sneered.
"Everything people do doesn't revolve around you Raizada" Abhishek's eyes went to his arms, gripping hers.
Following his gaze, Arnav's let go of her arms. As soon as he let go of her arms, her hand flew to her upper arm, rigorously rubbing her arm.
"You haven't answered me Varma!"
Abhishek looked at Arnav. "Firstly, I had no idea she would be here. And secondly, she is my fiancee's sister."
Arnav looked a bit surprised but then composed himself. "You could be story-writer Varma, but kindly explain those papers in her hands?"
Abhishek looked at her hands and frowned. He walked to Khushi "Khushi, are you alright?"
Khushi nodded. "Khushi, what are these papers?" he asked. Khushi simply handed over those papers to him.
Arnav looked on, as Abhishek's eyes scanned the papers. His face turned confused. "But Khushi, isn't this your Babuji's sweet shop?"
"Yes Abhishekji. We were planning to sell it and-"
"SELL it? WHY!"
"Well, your family increased their dowry-demand" Khushi said slowly.
"They WHAT!" Abhishek exclaimed, wondering WHY his family would want more dowry when he already earned so much.
Arnav watched through narrowed eyes as Abhishek gave and exasperated sigh and stuffing those papers in his pocket, looked straight at Arnav. "I have my own wedding to attend to Raizada. We'll talk about this later..."
Without waiting for a reply, Abhishek caught Khushi's arms and tugged her. Khushi pulled back, sticking to the wall. Abhishek turned around in surprise. "Khushi?"
Khushi looked away. Her blouse's string had come undone and she couldn't just walk out openly.
"Abhishekji, I-" she said, avoiding looking at Arnav.
Abhishek looked at Arnav suspiciously, then gestured at him to come out. A very stubborn and reluctant (AND still seething) Arnav walked out of the room, followed by Abhishek.
A few moments later, Khushi also walked out of the room, with her odhni draped across her shoulders like a shawl.
Payal paced up and down her room, while a grumbling Buaji and tensed Garima sat on the bed. Shashi Gupta, was trying to engage the guests, who had started to arrive already. The bride-groom's party had not arrived yet. Khushi wasn't back either, but at the moment, all he cared about was the safety of his daughter; let those darned papers rot in hell...!
Just then, the doors of Gomti Sadan flew open. Abhishek walked in followed by a meek-looking Khushi. "Mom! Dad!" he thundered.
Shashi hurriedly walked to him. "Come inside Babua! Your parents are not here yet!" he looked at Khushi's dishevelled state, and felt worried.
In the pin-drop silence, Khushi, Abhishek and Shashi walked into the house, just as Payal, Garima and Buaji were walking out. Grasping the situation, all of them went inside.
Once inside, Abhishek apologised. "I am sorry, but I did not know about this...! Payalji, I am really sorry." he said.
Payal nodded smiling, a little rueful. Abhishekji was very sweet, but did she love him? No, she did not. "Hai re Nandkisore! It's alright!" Buaji said, then she turned to Khushi.
"Ae Sanka Devi! Why is your odhni set like that!? Hein?"
"Buaji, wo-" Khushi stuttered.
Buaji shook her head and tugged at the odhni, and noticed the broken string. "Haye! How did this happen! Parmeswari, how did the dori break!"
Abhishek looked up shocked. "Raizada." he muttered under his breath.
"Buaji, i-it got caught on the a nail!"
Garima looked at Khushi, feeling angry. "Khushi! Why did you just run off like that! Do you have any idea how worried we were! And what was the need to-"
Abhishek cut her off. "No Aunty. It is a good thing she came. I don't know what happened..."
Khushi looked at him gratefully, but his next words knocked the breath out of her, and earned gasps from all her family members.
"And one more thing...I want to call off the wedding..." Abhishek said.
