Part 2

The massive front-door of the Raizada mansion shook back on its hinges as it was pushed open, almost smashing poor Jai Prakash as he opened the door. The master of the house stormed in, followed by the mother-son duo of Sheetal and Aarav. The obnoxious child and the hoity-toity mother, observed JP uncharitably as they walked in without sparing him a glance.

"Khush...'Khushi...', Arnav roared, trying to hide his growing anger with the situation. Why had Khushi hurried home? That too without telling him? And why did he not notice? His growing headache was not helped by Sheetal constantly bemoaning the sad state of her French-manicured nails. To add to that Sheetal did not really help her case by telling him that she would check with Anjali about the whereabouts of some classy nail-salons in the city because it did not seem that the two new Mrs. Raizadas would know much about them. Sheetal got quiet after Arnav told her that Khushi usually sported short, unpainted nails and he himself preferred that simple look on her.

'KHUSHIII'', Arnav was shouting now, the sweet smell of jalebis being fried increasing the feeling of unease chilling his nerves. Khushi came out from the direction of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a tea-towel; her eyes sparkling at the sight of him, a precious smile lighting up her features only to be dimmed and replaced by a polite look as her eyes shifted to something beyond him.

'Aap log aa gaye! How was the game?', she stood at her place, not moving forward, not demanding to know every minute detail of the game.

Before Arnav could demand the reason for her leaving the field without telling him, the front-door opened again, heralding the arrival of the rest of the Raizadas and Khushi was back to her cheerful self as she helped Mami to the nearest sofa.

Arnav stood still as he watched his wife flitting around the family members, a bight butterfly, talking to everyone while politely ignoring her husband. He felt her eyes skimming over him, halting on his reddened elbows and his heart danced with joy. Now she would come running over to him, scolding him for being careless, her eyes clouding with concern. He winced dramatically, drawing everyone's attention to him.

Akash and NK were beside him in the next instant.

'Kya hua Bhai, where does it hurt?'

'Nannav, mere bhai, kahan mard ho raha hai?', NK asked, running his hands over his shoulders.

Arnav ignored their questions as his eyes sought his wife; she moved forward only to change the direction and walk to the kitchen, as Sheetal rummaged in her gym bag and came over, brandishing a can of pain-relief spray triumphantly.

'Don't worry ', she showed the can to the Raizada ladies, 'Arnav used to get muscle pains in our college days as well and I used to massage his shoulders after applying a balm and it used to work like magic. I carried the spray today. I knew his muscles would hurt'.

'Humko dijiye, hum kar denge', Nani had joined the melee, a look of displeasure on her face as she pushed Sheetal not-so- gently away.

'Thanks Sheetal, but these sprays do not work for me these days. I need something special now. Khushi, can you apply the sarson-ka-tel 'wala malish for me.' He hollered, adding a rather loud 'Please' at the end.

'Sarson-ka-tel! Eeeks!'

'Yes, sarson ka tel, Aarav, your Khushi aunty has magic in her hands', leaving Aarav and his mom open-mouthed and his rather smug-looking family behind, he trudged up the stairs, feeling jubilant.

Ignoring his dirty state, Arnav laid down on the bed on his stomach, deliberately, on Khushi's side.

As usual, I suck at OSs and they generally end up as being two, three or four shots. Same seems to be the fate of this one as well. I would add at least one more part.

You suck at OS's?!?! Are you kidding me!? Woman, you had me grinning like a fool towards the end of it, and instead of studying for Psych I had to stop and read your update because I was so excited!

thank god arnav is worried about khushi and trying to get her attention...atleast nani subtly avoided sheetal regarding the massage...
wish we had seen this on show too..amazing update👍🏼
