Chapter 13

Shaina, on her side, was waiting for Rathore to shout again at her. But on the contrary to what she thought, Rathore only was observing and waiting for her to say something.

"What have i done now? If you want i can go away from this party! If it disturbs and angers you so much to see me here, i can go in my room!" Shaina said completely defeated now.

Rathore had been observing Shaina since a long time, and since Arjun had told him that Shaina had just went through a painful phase, now he could see the pain in her eyes, on her face, actually her whole body depicted a lost person. He tried thinking what could have happened to her, he wanted to ask, but then thought about the way he had treated her, and had no courage to ask her anything. Besides he doubted after his ill-treatment of her, she would share anything with him. Still now he could see and feel the sadness in Shaina's life. He felt ashamed that instead of helping her, he had only been adding to her miseries. He thought that it was high time he left his past behind himself and stopped punishing innocent people for someone else mistakes.

"I'm sorry," Rathore said suddenly.

Shaina who had been expecting an outburst from Rathore, was completely shocked at his words, so much that she thought she must be dreaming. She blinked her eyes a few times in shock, and then she said, "Excuse me, what did you just say?"

Rathore felt like a red tomato, he knew that he was blushing a lot. He had never thought that saying sorry could be so difficult than today. Rathore never was one to ever repeat his words, but then since he was the guilty one, he took a deep breath and started, "I'm so sorry. i should never have been so obnoxious to you. I promise from now on you wont have any complaints from me. You can stay in the party, i dont mind. I have been observing you since long, and saw that you haven't eaten anything. I'll go bring something for you!" and he immediately went away without leaving her any time to respond back.

Shaina for once thought that she must really be dreaming, so she pinched herself on her arm, and when she felt the pain she knew that what had just transpired had been real. She couldn't understand this sudden change in Rathore's behaviour, but still she was happy that he didnt hate her anymore. Life had just taken a bright turn for her. After a long time, she actually smiled from her heart.

Arjun had been watching Rathore and Shaina on the terrace, he was too far to know what happened and was said, but after Rathore left, he knew from the smile on Shaina's face that Rathore must have apologised. He was really proud of his elder brother, now all he had to do was play cupid to these two lovebirds. He knew that it would be difficult, but then if Rathore had once loved Shaina, then there was no reason that he wouldn't fall again for her, or his dormant feelings wont re-awaken again. Seeing Shaina's love for Rathore, he had a sudden pang of jealousy, not of Rathore, but that he also wished that he had someone who could love him with so much intensity and so selflessly. After a few minutes, he saw Rathore coming back to Shaina with a plate of food in his hands, he knew he no longer needed to do anything for tonight, and just went away to enjoy the party himself.

He was just walking by, when suddenly Riya came to stop him. He liked seeing her a lot, he liked her smiles and innocent talks, but what he loved the most was teasing her and seeing her at lost for words or blushing. And since Riya herself was throwing herself in his way, he couldn't prevent himself from teasing her a bit. So he didnt let her say anything, but said, "Hmmm, Riya i'm too tired for dancing anymore. Besides you have two left feet, you stepped on my feet a few times while we were dancing!" with a smile.

Riya was surprised at Arjun's words, and again she completely forgot what she was going to ask.

"No i didnt, i danced very well. In fact it's you who doesn't know how to dance!" Riya said angrily.

"Me? And i dont know dancing! Do you even know how good a dancer i am? Girls' die to dance with me," Arjun said jokingly.

"Wrong, girls dont die to dance with you, but they die after dancing with you since you are such a bad dancer!" Riya replied still a bit angry.

"Really, so i'm that bad of a dancer?" Arjun said with a mischievous smile, "Ok, let's prove it!"

Without giving Riya anytime to react, he again dragged her to the dancing floor and held her in his arms. This time, he was completely crushing her to himself.

Riya struggled to get away from him, but couldn't. She looked angrily at him.

"Dont you know you shouldn't challenge nor hurt a man ego! You said i'm a bad dancer, now you have no choice but to give me a chance to prove you otherwise! Unless you accept i'm a good dancer, i'm not letting you go from here," Arjun said naughtily.

"I... I mean i didnt mean that, actually you wrongly understood me!" Riya started to stammer.

"Too late now lady, you have no choice but to dance with me now," Arjun said and winked at her.

"But i dont wanna dance with you," Riya said loudly. She didnt know what it was about Arjun, that she felt so insecure and yet safe in his hands. He created such turmoil in her senses. She only knew that she had to stay away from her, her brain had been repeating this a lot of times since their last dance.

Arjun was angry when Riya said she didnt want to dance with her, he took it very badly, but he kept a hard smile on his face and said, "i said we'll dance, means we'll dance!"

Riya felt afraid at the coldness in Arjun's voice. She hadn't realised that her words would upset him, and tried her best to remedy the situation, "No!No! You got me wrong! I meant i'm still tired from dancing with you, and besides i was going to ask you about Shaina. I cant dance with you."

Arjun's anger quickly evaporated on hearing Riya's words, and was at first astounded that Riya knew him well enough to know that he had been angry under his fake smile. Lots of people wouldn't even have realised that, except his family no one knew that whenever he was angry, he didnt shout nor fight, he had a sarcastic and fake smile on his face.

Arjun sighed and said, "Shaina is there on the terrace. Rathore is with her," but before he could continue, Riya had pushed him and was walking towards the terrace. He immediately went towards her, grabbed her arm and stopped her from disturbing them.

"What are you doing? I have to go and see if shaina is ok?" Riya persisted.

Arjun led her to a place where she could observe Rathore and Shaina. What she saw brought a smile to her face. Rathore and Shaina were on the terrace, though neither were speaking, they both were eating silently next to each other. She looked at Arjun and said, "What did you do? What did you say?"

"I told you earlier that "main hoon na", actually if i'm not wrong SRK starred in movie named like that right," Arjun said smiling while looking alternately at Riya and Rathore and Shaina.

"Now that Shaina's is safe, can we have our dance? I still have to prove that i'm a good dancer," Arjun said happily, and again dragged her to the dancing floor.

"Ok, but only one last dance. I really feel very tired. I'm not used to dancing too much," Riya said sweetly.
