It had been almost two weeks now that Rathore had regained consciousness. Shaina had done her best to be with him, almost every day and night, whenever he needed anything. But while when Rathore had been in the hospital, he didn't have any other choice than to see and listen to her, as soon as he had got his discharge from the hospital and returned home, he had been continuously avoiding or ignoring her. She was getting depressed as days went on. What was worst was that Rathore liked staying with Riya, he was constantly looking for her after she returned from work. Sometimes Rathore even requested Riya to feed him and stay with him, Arjun and the others to play dominoes and cards till he fell asleep. Rathore was as if blocking Shaina completely from him and his life. Everyone in the family tried the best to help and support Shaina, but Rathore was too stubborn and in the end so as not to cause him too much stress, everyone had to bend in front of him. They were themselves a bit ashamed at the way Rathore was treating her.

Now it seems that every night when Shaina would come to sleep, she'd cry her heart out. She was gradually loosing her smile, and had lost also some weight. On top she had lost a few of her contracts because of this situation. Life was treating her very harshly. Anyone looking at her could feel her pain, except Rathore who seemed to be hating her more everyday.

On the other hand, while Shaina was losing all joy in her life, Riya was blossoming everyday. The love the whole family was giving her, the friendship she and Rathore had, and on top Arjun also was her friend now. No one hated her for the past mistakes. The contrast between these two was so evident to everyone, and everyone tried the best to comfort and encourage Shaina, but nothing was working anymore. On top Rathore had come to know that Riya saved him, and now he was treating her in a very special way, he not only liked her for her gentle and sweet nature, now he also respected her a lot.

"Get out of my room!" Rathore screamed, again at Shaina.

Like always, she was the one who brought Rathore's breakfast, and everyday he would scream at her, but still next day she again took her courage and came back. Today especially she had wanted to be the first one to see Rathore, it was afterall his birthday. And she had only wished him a simple happy birthday and given him a kiss on his right cheek.

"How dare you kiss me?! Don't you have any respect for yourself! No self-esteem! Why don't you just leave me alone!" Rathore barked at her. Rathore had always pushed her away from him these two weeks, but she had maintained her smile in front of him. But this time, she could no longer control the tears which started to flow down her cheeks. She put her hand on her mouth, murmured something and ran away from there.

Just at that time, Arjun was coming to wish Rathore. He saw Shaina running away with tears in her eyes, he felt so sorry for her, and angry at fate. He had seen the love between Rathore and Shaina, he knew that it was genuine love. He felt so helpless that he couldn't help her, but he had kept silent enough now, he wont accept that Rathore insult her even more now.

Arjun went towards Rathore, gave him a tight hug and wished him happy birthday. Rathore hugged Arjun back and said thank you.

"Waise bhai, why did Shaina run from here crying?" Arjun asked.

"Please let's not talk about her on such an auspicious day," Rathore said in an irritated tone.

"No bhai! We will talk about her? Why do you hate her so much? Why do you treat her so badly! You never lacked manners towards the other sex in your whole life! Then why are you being so unjust to her! You don't like her, fine! But why insult her every minute!" Arjun said taking Shaina's side.

"Fine, I wont insult her, but tell her to stay away from me," Rathore said.

"That's something none has the courage to tell her!" Arjun murmured.

"Did you say anything?" Rathore asked.

"Nothing, ok I'll tell her! But no more shouting at her. She is already so unhappy, please at least you shouldn't add more to it!" Arjun said with a sigh.

"She's already unhappy? But why! And since when do you care about a girl so much! Ideally you don't believe in love and marriage nah! Hmmm, you wouldn't be in love with her, right?" Rathore asked jokingly.

"Bhai, me and love! Never! Yep she just went through a very traumatic phase in her life, she lost the most important person of her life! Please treat her gently!" Arjun persisted.

"Sorry Shaina Bhabhi, can't do more for you! But at least now he wont bark at you every time he sees you," Arjun thought silently and went to get ready for work leaving Rathore all alone.

When Arjun had gone, Rathore started thinking about his hatred for models, and the way he had always treated Shaina, the insults and the anger, and finally for the first time he realized that he was exaggerating and punishing someone innocent of a crime she never committed.

He remembered the look in Shaina's eyes everytime he had insulted her, and now he realized that everytime her eyes would give out her pain, though she had always maintained her smile. And today he had made her cry. He didn't understand why, but her tears hurt him a lot. He was wondering at what type of pain Shaina must have gone through if Arjun himself is taking her part. He promised to be on his best towards her as from now on, well at least he'd try.

Arjun was going towards his room, when he met Riya in the corridor. Riya looked very angry and she was going somewhere hurriedly. He grabbed her by her arm and asked her, "What happened? Where are going like this Riya! You have the look of a tigress!"

"Who samajta kya hein apne aap ko!" she was fuming inside.

"Let me go," Riya asked looking angrily at Arjun.

"All men are the same! Stupid, stupid and stupid!" she added.

"Hmmm, not fair Riya, ab meine kya kiya hein!" Arjun asked smiling at Riya's anger.

Flashback, a few minutes earlier

Riya was getting ready to go to work, when suddenly the door opened and Shaina rushed in. Shaina went to throw herself on the bed, and took a pillow and cried in it. Riya couldn't see Shaina in such a state, she went towards her and started patting her on her back, murmuring positive things to cheer up. After some time, Shaina stopped crying, and Riya felt that she could ask her now about what had made her cry. Shaina got up and rushed into Riya's arms, "Woh nafrat karta hein mujhse! Mein har chuki hoon ab! Mujmein ab himmat nahi rahi!" Shaina said and tears started to fall again. And after lot of pacifying Shaina told Riya about Rathore's birthday and the way he had behaved with her. Riya knew that Rathore was very rude to Shaina, had seen it herself a few times, and sometimes she herself wanted to scold Rathore for his cruelty, but everytime she stopped herself because of his illness. These past two weeks, she had really known about the actual Rathore. He was far from the prince charming she had imagined for herself! She thought, looking at Shaina, that maybe love, true love doesn't exist, and prince charming didn't either. She had great respect for Rathore, but Rathore had been exaggerating a lot lately where Shaina was concerned, and most of the time it was for stupid reasons. She didn't understand why his hating models, should make him so stupid and cruel! But now she also had enough, she couldn't tell him the truth, but she could at least point out to him that he was hurting Shaina everyday. So she had left Shaina alone in the room with a mission to try to change Rathore's mind about Shaina, and had met Arjun in the corridor.

Flashback ends

"Maybe you are right! Love doesn't exist!" Riya said sadly.

"Hush, what are you talking about?" Arjun asked in a concerned voice now.

"I don't know whether what I felt for Rathore could be termed as love or not, but we all know how much Shaina love Rathore, yet she's suffering so much! Why is it that the person we love the most, is the one who will hurt us the most also at some point in life! Looking at Shaina, even I have started feeling scared of love now!" Riya said miserably.

Arjun went close to Riya, and using his hand lifted Riya's chin so that she could look in his eyes, and said, "No one said love was easy! If it was easy, then no one would value love! Love is something earned Ri! Remember one day I had asked you about love! Maybe now you are in a better position of knowing what love truly is! Love is not always winning, not always being with that person, and trying to fight against every hurdle for that person. Look at Shaina, every day she loses, yet everyday she keeps on trying. Its because she knows that for her there'll never be any life without Rathore, so she keeps on fighting. And I know that Rathore is just too cruel towards her, but don't worry I already talked with him. He will stop with his rude comments now," Arjun said softly.

"Happy now?" Arjun asked with a smile, "Don't tell me you were going to fight Shaina's case with Rathore," Arjun asked laughingly, "Do you even have the courage to stand in front of his anger!"

"I had to try! Shaina is getting depressed with time, and I cant see her like this!" Riya told him.

"Don't worry, mein hoon na," Arjun said and winked at her.

"Thanks for everything!" Riya said with her dimpled smile.

Both shared an eyelock for a few seconds, when suddenly Dadi who was just passing by said, "Hmmm, you two make such a beautiful couple! Why don't you get married?" and went away.

"What?" both said, and immediately pushed each other, and went to their room feeling awkward at what had just transpired.
