Sameer's family have taken Riya to be Sameer's fianc, and brought her to their home.

Finally Arjun, Sameer's small brother, and Riya have met.

Chapter 3

"Sameer's fianc? And her?" Arjun said by pointing fingers at Riya. He was looking at her angrily. Riya was very afraid that somehow maybe Arjun knew about Sameer's real fianc.

"Mama, she and Sameer? Impossible! She's not his type at all!" Arjun said disbelievingly to Mrs Rawte.

"Arjun behave, I never taught you to insult people, and especially not a guest who's your future sister-in-law!" Mrs Rawte said in a reproaching way and went to sit next to a scared Riya. She held Riya by her shoulders and gave her a comforting nod, "Don't worry Ri, I'm here with you. My son, Arjun," she said by glaring at him, "he's always angry and short tempered. Don't pay any attention to him!"

Arjun could see that his mama was not gonna listen to him, and since he was too tired to fight with anyone, he let this matter be, however he was sure that Riya was not Sameer's fianc. Actually he had already met Sameer's real fianc, just last month. However he had no proofs, nor any contact number of the real fianc. He looked at Riya and wondered what game this girl was playing with his family, but not for long he thought, he'd investigate this and show her true colours to everyone.

"Mama, let's drop this issue. But what is she doing in my room?" Arjun asked angrily.

Mrs Rawte looked a bit guilty, but she didn't back down to Arjun, "You were only supposed to come yesterday, not today! Besides we have been re-decorating Sameer's room, and none of the guest rooms were clean as almost everyone working for us were on leave today! And only your room was available!"

"But what is she even doing in our house?" he persisted.

"Well we all decided that she shouldn't be left alone in such a trying situation. Besides she saved your brother, if she hadn't been there, Sameer would have been killed. At least show some gratitude towards her Arjun," Mrs Rawte said a bit angry now at his son's persistent questionings.

Arjun's face whitened a bit thinking that he almost lost his brother today, and he completely calmed down and turned towards Riya to apologise and thank her. The thanking part was genuinely done, however the apologizing part looked very false. He observed Riya and tried to decipher what was going in her mind. And why was she lying about the fianc bit?

"Since I don't have any place to stay in my own house, pray tell me where I would sleep Mother," Arjun said ironically.

Mrs Rawte was a bit embarrassed at that part, and was thinking where she would make Arjun sleep.

Riya had been watching the interaction between mother and son, and she could see that Mrs Rawte was in a pinch, she decided to help her out and said, "It's ok Mrs Rawte I'll return back to my apartment."

Mrs Rawte was horrified on hearing this, and rejected it by saying it was too late and that Dadi would fight with her if she let Riya leave from here. She turned towards her son and said, "Give me five minutes, I'll arrange something," and rushed out of the room.

Presently Riya and Arjun were all alone in the room. Arjun was looking at Riya and trying to understand her mind, while Riya was doing her best not to look at Arjun.

"Miss Riya, will you please look at me?" Arjun asked rudely.

He walked towards the bed and came to stand just next to her. Riya looked at him, and since she was sitting on the bed, he seemed to be tower upon her. She felt a bit scared, but still maintained his gaze.

"What do you want?" Riya asked.

Arjun started laughing and said, "Lady you must be very dense about certain things, you are in my bed and asking me what I want!"

Riya blushed when she realized what she had just said, and rephrased her question a bit rudely this time, " Stop trying to intimidate me, and please come straight with your questions!"

Arjun's smile disappeared at her tone, and he was again looking angrily at her, "So you are Sameer's fianc right? Why are you lying? Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror? You really think a guy like Sameer would be smitten by you! You are not his type at all!"

Riya had decided to tell the truth to Arjun, but when he started to insult her, she forgot all about her apology and in anger she replied, "Well people's taste change with time! And yes I'm his fianc!"

Arjun started laughing again, though she could see that he still was very furious at her, and said , " You and Sameer's choice! Never, it's almost as impossible as if the sun will ever rise from the west!"

"You can fool my parents, but lady you are not fooling me at all!" he screamed at her.

Riya felt tears in her eyes at his insults, and barely controlled herself so as not to start to sob in front of him.

Arjun was disarmed for a few seconds when he saw tears in her lovely eyes. He hated to insult people in general and especially lovely ladies, and this girl in front of him was really beautiful, but her lies were bringing out the worst in him. He wanted to sit next to her in the bed and comfort her and ask for forgiveness for his insults, but he didn't trust her at all. He went to stand near the window, and looked outside to compose himself. He ignored her and waited for his mother to return.

After a few minutes, Mrs Rawte returned and Dadi was with her. Once they entered the room, they knew that these two must have fought, because there was so much tension in the air. Both had a secret smile when seeing this.

Dadi went towards Riya, and took her by her hand and said a smile, "Don't mind my grandson, woh aisa hi hain, khadoos!" and comforted her.

"Khadoos, kya dadi, as soon as you got your new daughter-in-law you already taking part and forgetting me!" Arjun complained jokingly. He came towards his Dadi and picked her up in his arms and did a pirouette, and said softly, "Dadi you are gaining too much weight, if you continue like this, I won't be able to pick you in my arms next time!"

"Let me down you naughty Arjun!" Dadi said and smacked him lovingly on his shoulders.

Once Dadi had put Arjun down, Dadi asked Riya to get her things ready since for tonight she'll be staying with her in her room, "Of course only if you don't mind it."

Riya was happy she could get away as soon as possible from this Arjun, and immediately accepted. Without wasting any time, she pushed away the bedsheet and went to take and gather her things in her bags. In her hurry she didn't realize that her nightdress was not really covering her up completely, and Arjun, despite his distrust towards her, was enjoying the sight.

Dadi asked Mrs Rawte to take Riya to her room, and that she'll come there in a few minutes after talking with Arjun. After they had left, Dadi went to take Arjun's hands and pulled him towards the bed and both sat on it.

"Why were you fighting with Riya?" Dadi asked.

"Still sharp at this age, huh?" Arjun said lovingly.

"Hey abhi to mein jawan hoon, meri oumar par mat jha," Dadi said with false anger, which made Arjun laugh. He went to lie down on the bed in such a way that his head ended up on her lap. She absently started to massage his head, and asked Arjun why he doesn't like Riya.

Arjun had always been the closest to his Dadi since he was born, and till now he had never lied to her, and this time also he wouldn't.

"She's a liar Dadi, she's not Sameer's fianc, I met the real fianc last month, her name was Shaina. And she's a top model!" Arjun replied.

"Nahin, I've seen and observed this girl very well, she's a very good person. She has a very good heart, one could easily trust her and see her truth in her eyes. Maybe Sameer and that Shaina broke up, and this is his new girlfriend, and maybe Sameer never had the time to inform you," Dadi said.

"And please you won't fight with her nor shout at her, she's my guest. I forced her to come here, and the poor girl is all alone in this world, her parents died when she was very young," and changed the topic by sayin, " Did you go to see Sameer before coming home?"

"Yep I passed by the hospital before coming here. Don't worry Dadi, Sameer is a strong man and a fighter, nothing will happen to him. I'll never let anything happen to him, I promise." Arjun said calmly to uplift Dadi's pain. And while in Riya's case, he remained silent.

Arjun could see that Dadi was completely bewitched by Riya, and nothing he would say would change her opinion. But he had seen Sameer and Shaina together, they were really deeply in love with each other, and doubted that they could break up, and even if they had broken up, he still didn't believe Sameer could go out so easily and quickly with another girl, and especially not someone like Riya. However he had no proofs, so he decided to keep silent about it, and since he was so tired he fell asleep in that position. After a few minutes, when Dadi was sure that Arjun had fell asleep and wont wake up, she lightly lifted his head, and put it on a pillow, and quietly went out. Dadi presently went in her room, where she saw that Riya was already asleep. She stood for a few minutes looking at Riya's innocent face with a smile, and finally decided that either way Riya was perfect for her grandson, and by hook or crook she'd make Riya the daughter-in-law of this house. She also quietly went to sleep.

In the morning when Arjun woke up, he stayed in his bed thinking about last night incidents and Sameer. He turned in the bed, when he realised that his pillow smelled like flowers, such a soothing smell he thought with a smile, must be Riya's perfume or cream. He thought for a long time about her, and his heart asked him to trust her, while his brain refused to do so. His brain told him that maybe she was a gold digger, and hence taking advantage of Sameer's coma to come here, while his heart was telling him that her eyes held such innocence and purity.

He was confused, and after at least half an hour, his brain and the police officer in him finally won. He loved his family a lot, and he could see that Riya had already started to immerse herself in their life, and that they cared a lot about her, be it his mum or Dadi. But so as not to make Riya more cautious, he'd make as if he accepted her, and with time he'll gradually bring the truth to the whole family. After having taken his decision, he finally got up and went to shower, and finally went down for breakfast.

When he reached there, everyone was already at the table eating including Riya and she was actually sitting at his place. This was becoming a habit now for her to try to take possession of everything that belonged to him. He didn't say anything and went to sit down next to Dadi and made her feed him lovingly with her hands. Riya was astonished at this family, and their loving nature. She was even surprised that Arjun looked so gentle with his mum and Dadi, but then she remembered his words and insults, and thought that he was only a khadoos like his Dadi had said yesterday.

She ate up quickly and got up and said she had to leave now for work.

"Wait, Arjun will drop you," Dadi and Mrs Rawte said at the same time.

Riya took one glance at Arjun's face and said, "No, I'll go by myself." And rapidly went out.

"But she could have waited, as you both are going to the same place nah! You have been transferred here to replace Sameer till he's better nah!" Dadi said, "Didn't you tell her about it?"

Riya had just reached the office, and was happy to meet Shree and Chotu. Both started to tease her and also reprimanded her that she kept the truth from her best friends.

"What truth?" Riya asked doubtfully.

"Well that you and Rathore sir are going out together. Tum to chupe rustom nikhli," Shree and Chotu replied.

"Not you two also, please," Riya said by putting her hands on her head. She asked them to listen to her, and finally she told them the truth about her lies and everything, she only omitted the part where she loved Rathore.

After listening to her, both Shree and Chotu went to give her a big hug and comforted her, saying that they'd be here to help her out and not to worry too much.

It was Arjun's first day as the acting-chief of the ETF, and he entered the office hoping that the other team members were better and honest unlike Riya. But to his surprise when he reached the office, he saw two men hugging Riya and she was hugging them back. For one instance he felt a stab of jealousy, which was completely overshadowed with anger within a few seconds.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?" he roared.

Hearing his shout, all three were terrified and turned to look at him.

Riya was the first one to come out of the shock first, and she was angry that Arjun had dared to follow her till here.

"Why are you following me? This is my working place! Get the hell out of here!" she screamed, Shree and Chotu were desperately trying to make her keep silent, but she wasn't paying attention to them.

"You are throwing your boss out?" Arjun said sarcastically.

"Boss?!" Riya echoed silently.

"Hain Ri, I forgot to tell you that the commissioner had called yesterday night to inform us that Sameer's brother, ACP Arjun Rawte, would be our boss as from today," Shree explained.

Riya's face lost all color, and she nearly fainted at this turn of events. Hopefully Chotu was next to her, and she held unto him for support.

"Yes, ACP Arjun Rawte, your new chief!" Arjun said crossly looking only at Riya.

"OMG, what have I done now? He already hates me, and now he's my new boss! What will happen to me now? Why do I end up digging deeper holes for myself and falling in them each time!" she thought to herself.
