Khushi couldn't believe Rohan was sitting in front of her. He looked almost the same since they were in school. His physique looked a little different, as he was no longer the tall skinny guy that he used to be. He must exercise like Arnavji, she thought. Otherwise he had that same mischievous grin, sparkling eyes, and boyish face! "Rohan - when did you move from Lucknow? How are your parents? And your sister? Is she studying? Is she married? Is -"
"Woah Khushi slow down - he exclaimed! Khushi still looked as beautiful as ever. Same face, lovely hair, perfect body, and wait a mangulsutra? "Please have a seat Khushi. " She said down and looked at him with her big doe eyes ready for him to start talking. "First Khushi - my parents are well and so is Priya. She was very mad at you that you left without saying bye. She is getting married later this year. Looks like congratulations are in order for you Mrs.?
"Mrs Raizada. I am married to Arnav Singh Raizada. Rohan's jaw dropped open. "Rohan - I left Lucknow last year and moved to Delhi. I started working at AR and Arnavji and I fell in love and got married."
"WOW Khushi! Sounds like an amazing story. So Mrs. Raizada - why in the world do you need a job? And why do you want to work here and not for your husband's company?
Khushi stiffened slightly and pondered how to answer this difficult question. If she mentioned financial problems Arnavji would truly get mad at her. "Um I get very bored at home. Arnavji has many servants at home and there is not much work for me to do. I don't want to work at AR because I don't want to distract Arnavji. He works so hard and if I was there he would worry about me and not concentrate on his work. She let out a small sigh hoping that it sounded plausible.
Rohan looked at her and realized that it must be hard for a person like Khushi adjusting to ASR's lifestyle. Ever since he had know her she was always studying, cooking, cleaning, dancing, or simply getting into mischief. Rest was definitely not in her vocabulary. "Well Khushi - we are a company that focuses on marketing. We help various companies get models, assist in their advertising needs, and even help with special events for our clients. As my secretary you will be assisting me in all of these tasks including things like scheduling appointments and preparing reports. If you want the job is yours."
"Thank you so much Rohan! You won't regret your decision. I have worked at AR and know how to do all of these things. I also promise to make good coffee and bring jalebis to work" Rohan smiled at her excitement - "Great you can start next week. Oh and um I hope you don't mind but all the employees here have to follow a certain business casual dress code. You know blouses, pants, skirts, that sort of thing."
"Haww!" as Khushi's mouth formed an O in surprise and shock. "As an Indian woman I am so proud to wear Indian clothes and show off my heritage. I cannot imagine that you are embarrassed of your culture. You should be ashamed to have such a policy. And you call yourself a loyal Indian Hmmph! Why don't"
"Khushi - as Rohan interrupted. I'm sorry but this is the policy. I am sure that such a wardrobe is not a problem for ASR's wife right?"
"Ok Rohan - she grumbled. I will be dressed in western clothes for work. Thank you" She gave Rohan a nervous smile and exited. Hey Devi Maiyya, what in the world was she thinking..how was she going to convince Arnavji to let her work? And western clothes? Well if Sheetalji can do it then so can she! Hmmph I'll show her!! Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada can do anything!!!
