A scream tried to break free from her mouth but a hand covered it. She was pulled back against a wall of sinew and muscles, and Karan's familiar musk hit her hard. He pulled her away, and before she knew she was pinned against the restroom's wall.
The other man, all brawny and hulky, jumped at the chance, and took Karan by his neck. Shilpa wanted to shout, but her throat was constricted. Her eyes were glued to her husband, who remained unaffected by the arm that was religiously choking him now.
He would kill him!
Shilpa's eyes, huge balls of green fire and disbelief widened as the scene in front, unrevealed itself. The man had Karan well in his roping grip, and with a fierce beating heart she felt the tug of horror unfurl inside her. He'd kill her next.
Except, what happened next sent her back digging against the wall. What happened next was unaltered violence in its purest forms. Karan's eyes found hers, and held her. There was no pain in them, she thought. They were coils of unyielding steel. She wanted to tear her gaze away but she was spell bounded by what happened next.
Her husband crouched low, his eyes never leaving hers, crooked an arm, folded it then slammed his elbow against the choker's nose. The angle was perfect. The man backed off cursing and spurting blood.
And then it dawned over her. The truest form of terror. His gaze, black goblet of darkness, never wavering from hers, grew predatory. His whole stance changed, and she could see the animalistic intent that transformed him. Everything about him reminded her of a Hyena, and her whole body was rebelling to run, even as he held her captive. His hands pulled the tube light wire that had come off due to the fight and slowly, relishing, he looped it around the man's neck.
She'd never seen anything like that. It was predatory, inhuman, and brutal. But it was real. And she was transfixed. Her eyes traced his callous fingers, saw the ease with which they were executing it and then he did it. He crossed his hands, and pulled the life chord. One hard calculated tug at opposite ends and the man, lifeless, succumbed to the floor.
And through all of it, his eyes never left hers. Shilpa saw the man fall to the floor, saw a body being wasted. Years of living, dreaming, eating, years of being human all gone just like that?
Her husband took a life, and he didn't care. Her head lifted and she stared at him. He stood there calm and composed, still watching her intently.
Three men barged through the door, pulling out their guns at Karan, who got his own revolver, butted with a silencer, and took three ruthless aims, shots and smell of smoke rotting the air, and three more bodies merged into the ground.
Karan straightened his coat, thrusting his revolver back in his sock and caught her eyes. That's when she found sense, and her feet, and twirled around to dash out.
Except she couldn't. one hand slammed against the wall, blocking her exit, and she could smell his strong musk and feel his charged presence. She turned around, slowly, to face him. He was too near for her to breathe.
"It's time you know exactly what kind of monster you're married to."
