this is what I have been thinking all along...

I know we don't want Aarav to be Arnav's son, but what if he is?

What is Sheetal's fault?.. So far the woman is likeable and have not shown any inclination to sabotage a Rabba Ve relation but what if ASR did leave her with a kid?.. Ofcourse he doesn't know and didn't do anything knowingly but they have a child and with that comes a lot of responsibility...

I sincerely hope this track is dealt with sensitivity... if at all ASR has a son

hey loved this one shot fiction...i absolutely loved the way you portrayed khushi's emotion...i think you are a fantastic writer...my heart really went out for khushi in this fic... i wish the writers of the show did the same...i mean the way they are showing sheetal is ridiculous...what mother would leave her child in a toy store??????? that too after he was almost kidnapped recently...if she can buy expensive clothes, has a car, she can afford daycare...can't she????????i mean in the actual ipkknd its pretty much obvious that she is fake...This whole Aarav-Sheetal-Khushi is way too comical to be taken seriously...i looove ur os...it was so perfectly written...my heart went out for khushi...if the sheetal in the series was anything ( even if little bit) like the khushi in your os...my heart would have went out for her too...i mean ur khushi frm os didnt meet wit arnav's family thru stupid comical coincidental meetings...if sheetal in the show is actually genuine and aarav is in fact arnav's son...i wish they could sort it out the mature way...like by sharing custody and stuff...i have a friend, her parents are divorced and both remarried...they share her custody...she is not completely happy but she says that at least now she doesnt have to see her parents fight and be miserable...she actually likes her step mom...the same thing should have happened in ipkknd too...but thats just wishful thinking...if khushi chooses to sacrifice herself for uniting arnav-aarav-sheetal that would be just stupid...i mean hello share custody?????????? but i must say ur OS was awesome...i m stil crying...i can't stop thinking abo..ut khushi and her sorrow...aarav in this os is sooo cute...the one frm show is cute too...but he is acting too much like asr...its exaggerating...And aggravating for me...i mean come on how can u b a total copy of someone whom u've never met b4?????????? plz don't take this the wrong way...i m not against u...in fact i love the way u think...i m just saying that the situation might be same in both cases but the khushi u wrote in this os is sooo different frm the sheetal they r showing in ipkknd...if they were presented the same way i m sure everybody wud've sympathized with sheetal tooo...but they r not...so i m anti sheetal...but it does not mean that i don't get the msg behind this os i dooo...Take Care...Maashallah u wrote such an amazing os...Allah aapko toufique aata kare ke aap aur bhi achhe achhe ff likhte rahe...shukria
P.S. Can i kill the A.S.R from this OS? i m sure the arnav frm show wudnt hav reacted the same way...that was just disgraceful

i agree the idea is we can't just in a very black and white way.. there are always wrongs and rights on both sides. everybody hurts in the end but the important thing is we cannot judge without knowing

Greys are part of everyday life. Nothing is ever black and white, all our decisions are clouded by a bit of grey.

When it comes to a situation such as this, i am just 20, so definitely not experienced enough to be making a strong point, as I haven't experienced being in a serious relationship nor have I experienced parenthood.
Which is why I try to be as non-judgemental as possible, because I don't actually know what they are going through, what's going through their mind, what they were thinking while making such a hard decision, so I don't know how valid my arguments were, but I tried putting in my two cents from what I have observed around me :)

Got the point behind this piece. But let me ask you something. Just because someone is a mother, does it gives her the right to decide whether the father would like to know or not that he has a son?

How can her, as a mother not anticipate the question, "Do I have a father" before the question actually arises?

When it takes two people to create a child, how can her alone decide whether the child may cause inconvenience to the father? What right does she have to deny a child his father or the father his child?

How would you feel if you were in a coma and had a pregnancy and delivery and the father takes off with your child without letting you know that you are a mother and years after when you are in a happy relationship suddenly crops up with a 8 year old child claiming that he is your flesh and blood?

Won't you feel cheated that you didn't have a choice to choose to be a mother? Won't you feel cheated out of those numerous moments like baby's first step, first smile, first day of school, first fight, first word?

I'm a woman and only we, the women have the power to carry a child and give it life. But we don't have any right to deny a father a child on the basis of that biological advantage.

Her job was to let the father know and let him make the decision the day she realized the child was in her womb. If he had shirked his responsibilities then, that is his choice and then she could do whatever is necessary to raise the child. But denying a father the knowledge about his son is not her right.

So just like I have no sympathy towards Sheetal in the show, I have no sympathy towards Khushi here.

All my sympathy lies with Arnav and in this particular os with Sheetal for having to face the consequences of one woman's cowardly/selfish decision years after.

I don't feel Arnav is wrong in feeling that this might be a trap to break his relationship. Why wouldn't he?

I'd feel that too if I was in his shoes. In fact, whether I'm a man or a woman, if someone takes off with my child, my flesh and blood and crops up years after with him, first I will do a DNA test to confirm paternity and then claim full custody of the child from him/her for denying me my child for 8 years, whether at that time I'm in a relationship or not.

Perfect!!!!!👏👏👏

No matter how much a man says he doesn't want children, it doesn't mean when a child is on the way, he does not need to be informed. Because perspectives and preferrences change with the circumstances. Taking away a man's right to make decision because of something he said in a different circumstances is like saying a woman always said she never wants to become a mother so when she gets pregnant give her abortion pills without her knowledge.
If Khushi had told Arnav about the baby and he had told her to get abortion, she is still an adult. She didn't have to immidiately run to get abortion. In that case, her action and lies are justified. But in this instance it isn't justified. How long do you think she can continue to lie to her son? And when the truth comes out, Aarav will feel contempt for either his mom or his dad or both and for that the blame will rest on Khushi.

I am quoting only the parts that were related to the short anecdote I shared.

So here is how our perspectives are biased and severely skewed by our assumptions.

The boy saw the girl buck naked dancing outside in the rain.

the girl was the 2 year old daughter of the neighbor who had accidentally walked out of the house into the rain and decided to take off her clothes because instinct told her the mud puddle would wet her clothes and mom wouldn't be happy. but the rain was too tempting so she jumped in the puddle, and danced in the rain.

the boy's dilemma was not that he saw the child naked, but as a concerned neighbor he was worried for her safety and wanted to inform the neighbors.

we assumed the worst because we are victims of our experiences. truth lies somewhere between what we think and what the other person thinks. i think most of us on the forum do that, we take a slice of the story, look at it through the lense of our experience and react accordingly.

I disagree, SJ. It was not my bias or perspective which coloured my judgement. It's the information that you kept hodden and didn't share. Which is exactly my point.
Had you told me that the girl was 2 years old, I'd still say that actions good or bad is judged by consequences, in this case, the worst consequence is death by pneumonia. However, I'll rule out social consequences. However, you did hid a part of information because of which I could not make the right decision.
If Khushi had told Arnav about the child when he was born, whatever decision he took would have been coloured by his experiences and personal biases yes, but it would have been an informed decision.
But because she hid the child's existence from him, the right to make a decision is taken out from his hands and now that she has arrived back in his life he was presented with a 8 year old son like a fait accompli. You must admit that it's not fair.
It's like saying your sister is marrying a man who is a adulterer but because she had once said that she will die without him, you let her get married to him by keeping your mouth shut. Hence you took away her right to make an informed decision. It's one's duty to tell the truth to the people who are affected by it, after that whatever decision they make knowing is not their problem anymore. But it's not one's right to make decision on anyone's behalf unless the person is incapable because of physical or mental limitations or a minor.

Damn interesting and I can understand the doubt. Handling motherhood single-handedly is an accomplishment. Hats off to all the ladies who are up for the task!

Huh...this got me into thinking! I'm one of those people who staunchly HATES Sheetal and that is because I BELIEVE that Arnav didn't have the relationship that is required to create a new life...But WHAT IF..?? What if it had happened? Would we side with Khushi here or Sheetal...Strangely I was on Team Khushi while reading this...even though when the situation is reversed I'm against Sheetal...this is some thought provoking stuff...some well needed perspective I think.

P.S - this is the FIRST time I have typed the actual way that her name is supposed to be spelled...Sheetal and not shit-al! LOL! :D
