I have lost count of how many memories I hold'

How he wished the Gods would show some mercy and ease the burden of their fate'

His days were numbered, he knew, age and hopelessness were catching up to him' and he considered his daughters his greatest blessing and curse' their beauty and their fate were their curses'

Many consider me to be their curse too' and yet they were loyal to me'

They were strong, the both of them'

I wish I could ease his pain' it was starting to poison my veins'

He knew that she understood why he asked her to leave'

They knew each other too well to misread such motives'

His gamble, though, was greater than hers'

The man loved her, he knew' It couldn't have been any other way' the man did not after all stumble onto my doorsteps merely by chance'

I called to him and he came' at least I would like to think that is what occurred'

I am willing to concede that maybe the man's destiny had a role to play as well'

The man did not love easily, he knew' but there was love in him now'

Kashi, he was less sure about'

His younger daughter valued so many things' loyalty, dignity, self-respect'

Her love, though, was all spent on her family' Love came with great cost' both his girls had known too much loss to not know that' but while the older one seemed to have an infinite capacity to love, the younger one was' he knew not if she would let herself love anyone else as much as she loved those she already loved' whether she would ever allow herself to be so vulnerable'

And so, he had forced her hand'

It was a gamble'

He had to hope that for once in her life, his younger daughter would let go of her misguided loyalty and reach for her own hopes and dreams'

And not cling onto what he thought remained here within me'

As omniscient as I would like to think I am, my consciousness is only as vast as theirs'

I cannot predict the future'

I can only show them the past'

And hope that they will not repeat the same mistakes'

KH - itself the story, a witness to stories and a sutradhar. Beautifully written with sensitive expression of the feelings of the father and daughters, of the hope for a future, of the acknowledgement of powers that are not totally within our grasp, of fate, of destiny, of love, of hope, of strength in the face of the greatest odds.

I may search this f0rum upside d0wn but I am sure I w0uldnt find a better update. A father's l0ve f0r his daughter c0uldnt have been explained any better

Devi, what a long time! You are back. Hope you are doing well on health and professional front.
I really missed KH.
Am not good at comments especially when it comes to complex, intriguing stories like yours.
So it was father's sort of hand-twisting way to make Kashi go with Arnav. As stubborn as she is, he had no other way to do it. I hope Kashi will be able to love Arnav beyond the privileged few who are blessed with her love.
What happens to KH now? Where will Devaki and Govindan go? Will Arnav still purchase the KH ?

Read it all in one day..it felt like I was there with them..everything was so real...you're awesome..please update soon
