CHAPTER 3:


*In the corridor*

"Hold on a second. Why are you saying I won't be moving in with you guys? Are you kicking me out before I've even moved?", Taani exclaimed in utter bewilderment.

"No no no, we are not kicking you out. I just thought you wouldn't want to move in since we're Rey's friends. If you have no problem then neither do we." said Vicky, clearing out the misunderstanding.

"Phew! I really do need a place to live. So that's his name, Rey. Hmmm.", Taani said with a visible look of relief on her face.

"I am guessing you'll need a ride to the hotel after school? Meet me at the main gate when school ends I'll drive you to the hotel and we'll get your stuff." Vicky said making sure Taani wouldn't go through a lot of trouble as the city is new for her.


*At the nurses room*

Rey is getting treated when Sharon barges in and screams at the sight of Reys bleeding nose. "That looks bad! How are you feeling? Is it hurting? Do you need anything?"

Rey looked at the hysterical Sharon and thought how cute she looked when she was worried. "Hey hey relax! It's not as bad as it looks."

"How could you let him humiliate you like that?"

"He attacked me out of nowhere and any further argument would've ended is a worse situation which is why I didn't respond back. Aur mujhe kya pata tha kai Einstein ki girlfriend hai.", Rey said heatedly.

"She thought about what Rey said and realized what he did was right. Any further argument would've just aggravated the situation which would've resulted in the Principle being notified.

Sharon shook her head clearing her thoughts and said, "I guess you are right but we still have to do something about it."

"And why exactly do you think I don't already have plan?" Rey said secretively.

Sharon looks closely at Reys nose and said, "Are you sure you don't want to do anything about that nose? I mean this a perfect chance for you to get a nose job and besides you always had a really ugly nose." Both of them burst out laughing.

Rey gives Sharon a quick bear hug as he said, "You always know how to cheer me up little girl?"

Sharon grabbed his backpack and said, "Now let's get you home but first I have to get my gym bag from Simmi."


*In the car*

"Dibs and shotgun on the front seat!" Nilesh shouts running towards the car.

"Hmph! Not fair. He always gets to sit in front and I have to sit with a sweaty Vicky. Arrghhh!" Rinni said looking supremely annoyed.

"I don't smell, it's just that I had gym class.", Vicky said making Rinni snort in disgust. "And hush guys we have company. Agar bhag gayi tou bethe rehna aur phir tou rent bhi khudi dena pare ga.", he added.

"That's it, I think I am going to walk", Taani said while walking in the other direction making everyone laugh.

"Smart girl" said Rinni as Taani joined them once again.

"Guys this is Taani and Taani this is guys", Vicky said looking at everyone expectantly, waiting for them to burst into laughter.

"Really now? That's the best you can do?, Simmi said exchanging a disgusted look with a Rinni.

"Try me. I could definitely do worse." Vicky said, this time making everyone laugh.

After the laughter subsided, everyone introduced themselves. Where, Nilesh was very friendly, Rinni and Simmi were cordial to Taani, judging her a little over what had happened earlier in the day. After that, everyone settled down in the car with little fuss and drove to the hotel where Taani was staying. Packing, Taani's stuff was easy considering how little she had brought thinking what else she might need could be bought in Delhi. The suitcases were packed and loaded in the trunk of the car, and once again everyone found themselves in the car heading towards their apartment.


*At the apartment*

Nilesh and Vicky heaved the bags over the last step chatting animatedly with Taani, sharing old stories of their friendship.

Nilesh steps in front of her, his voice serious as he said, "We have a lot of house rules but there is only one which you need to be aware of right now. We are very particular about keeping the house neat and clean, not a little spec of dirt is tolerated."

Vicky opens the door then allowing Taani to come forward and said, "After you, I hope you find everything to your satisfaction."

Taani steps inside her jaw hitting the floor at the chaos she is welcomed to. After the whole, house rules warning she had got, she had not been expecting old pizza boxes and takeout boxes to be littered around the living room with little bits of food scattered over the carpet as packets of chips and other junk food peaked through the side of sofas. The afghan which should have been wrapped over the sofa was crumbled behind it instead. The coffee table seemed to have no space left to hold another glass or bottle. Magazines were lying on the floor along with empty DVD covers while their occupants were stacked in a disconcerted manner near the TV unit, dirty laundry strewn across the room. There was no end to the disorder Taani faced.
A huge grin appeared on Taanis face and in a satisfied voice said, "Oh yeah I can be real particular about cleanliness of this sort."

They moved forward inside, showing her the layout of the apartment. In the end they escorted her to her room. While, the girls helped her put her clothes and toiletries in order the guys helped in decorating the rest of the room, enlivening it in the persona of Taani's. After that they all trooped out in the living room, surveying the mess that did indeed need cleaning. It took more time to clean the room and by the time they were done with it, everyone was tired to the bones and decided to turn in early. They all said goodnight and went to their respective rooms to sleep.

*Later in the night*

In the middle of the night when everything was still Nilesh heard funny noises coming from somewhere close by. He put a pillow over his head trying to block the noise. "Kya yaar Jerry raat ko sone tou diya kar.", He said groggily. A few seconds passed before he realized that the sound was emanating from their unwelcomed guest, Jerry, the mouse. He opened his eyes; rather than seeing the ceiling he came across the ugly face of Jerry. He stood up, screaming running into the living room waking everyone up.

Taani stepped outside her room to check what all the commotion was about, she saw everyone hopping from one sofa to another, brooms in their hands all the while continuing to scream. She looks around trying to find the object of their distress. Taani switches on the lights when the main door suddenly opens making Taani jump. She turns around coming face to face with none other than the skirt-chaser.

Rey took a deep breath as the image of Taani looking sleep tousled in a short nighty that gently hugged her curves assailed his senses. At the same moment, Rey remembered just how she had humiliated him, earlier that morning and he stopped his thoughts from going any further.

He gathered his thoughts giving Taani a scathing look as he turns upon his friends, "WHAT THE HELL IS SHE DOING HERE?" He continued, "How can you-", When he feels something upon his foot as he looked down Rey saw a blur of brown coat darting over his foot. Rey lets out a scream grabbing Taani by the arm and dragging her on to the nearest table, clutching each other as if their lives depended upon it. The mouse goes under the same table on which Rey and Taani are taking refuge making them both jump around hysterically. As the table wobbled they realized that it wasn't sturdy enough to bear both of their weights.
