He lingered for a moment longer before pulling back and stroking her hair away from her face.
"I'm taking you on a date."

An Indescribable Emotion
=|=
Khushi had never been so confused in her life. Ever. The past twenty three years of her existence had been comparatively easy. Despite the fact that she was a mother like figure to a twenty one year old.
But no situation had ever perplexed her this much, like the one messing up her mind right now.
A date. With her boss. Her first date, and that too with Arnav Singh Raizada.
Could things get anymore confusing?
Here she was, an woman approaching almost quarter of a century in another two years, without having a date. Or being kissed. Well, until today at least. When had boyfriends ever mattered to her?
Never.
And anyway, after having parents whose relationship was termed volatile-at the very least , Khushi tended to stray away from entanglements. Especially romantic ones.
Other than Shaina, no one else had Khushi's love. No one.
And she wanted to keep it that way. Once you went the way of affection, you were bound to get disappointed. Khushi didn't want to get disappointed. Not one bit. But she would be lying to herself if she stated that she didn't want this date.
Khushi Kumari Gupta never lied. Never cheated either.
So here she was, admitting to herself that she did indeed want Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada. Yes, it did sound wrong in her mind. An employee dating the employer? That wasn't the best thing to do, especially when she wanted to keep a clean professional front.
But what about that kiss?
Her first kiss.
Once again, Khushi knew that she had enjoyed every moment of it. Sure, it had been sudden, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. In fact, she guessed that impromptu kisses were the best after all.
But what to do? Who to listen to?
Her heart told her to go ahead and take this chance, live for a little while. But on the other hand, her head knocked the heart down and explained the fallacies in the entire situation.
"Arnav Singh Raizada, you'll be the death of me!"
It had been extremely clear, even at the time while she was growing up, that Khushi had the sad curse of Inopportune Timing. She often said things to those very people, who should never have been the recipients of it.
And well, history liked repeating itself.
A curvy little ball of energy came flying into the room with such immense force that Khushi was plonked bodily upon the sofa. Her baby poked fingers all over the older woman's ticklish spots, earning herself a proud reward of choking laughter and prompt squeals in return.
"What is I hearings? Why will Arnav Singh Raizada be the deaths of yous dearie?"
Khushi laughed some more as Shai slurred in the "adopted" ghetto lingo of hers, resulting in another stitch in her side. She clutched at it and pushed Shaina off her, rolling them both onto the floor in the process.
Still chortling, Khushi lifted herself off the carpeted ground and stood up. She walked forward and bent down to help pick up her baby, who seemed quite smitten by the little threads jutting out from the fluffy nude rug.
"Because he asked me out on a date."
That managed to pull her baby away from the ground. Not the best action in Khushi's opinion, for in the next ten seconds, Shai bounded towards the older woman and wrapped her in a bone crushing hug.
And so began the routine.
She jumped up and down, uncaring of the chair she had just knocked over in her very apparent excitement. Also not bothering to lower the range of her extremely powerful voice, and Khushi knew she would have complaints tomorrow. Shaina possessed the vocal chords of a soprano.
The one with a sore throat.
"Ohmyf**kinggod. I cant believe it. The ASR asked you out on a date. So excited for you Di!"
Khushi stroked her baby's back softly, feeling her ribs break into two as Shai clutched her tighter. Circles began to dance in front of her eyes, and for a moment she wondered how such a dainty creature had such massive strength.
"I...cant..breathe.."
Immediately, the younger woman let go of her, laughing at her friend's condition. Khushi's face was hot and she felt purple. It was sad how Shaina just found it really funny.
"Dont be so excited. How do you know I'm going to say yes?"
After a few minutes of intense breathing regulation sessions, Khushi folded her arms and looked straight at her baby. Her baby stared right back, folding her own arms as well.
"Oh uh-huh. You are not going to say no to this. Plus, you know you wanna go Di."
Khushi's mouth opened automatically to reply, but nothing came out. She stood silently for a moment, and then plonked down upon the sofa. Shai sat beside her, softly stroking her hair away from her face.
"You're scared na Di?"
Khushi didn't respond, merely looked determinedly at the ceiling. She'd never noticed it, but it was actually quite be-
"Come on, lets go"
Before she could even say something, Khushi felt herself being dragged from the living room into Shaina's sanctum. Inelegantly, her baby sat her atop the bed and jumped away to open the wardrobe doors with a soft flourish.
"Ta-da!"
The older woman grimaced at the condition of the cramped area, her face scrunching in annoyance as she saw the mess within. Clothes were flung everywhere, even pushed under the wooden shoe rack.
After a few minutes of "nahh", "hmm," and finally a shout of "yes!", Shaina emerged from a lump of colors in the center of the room. She smiled widely and held a dress in her hands. With one fluid motion, she lifted herslef off the floor and thrust the folded material under Khushi's nose.
"Lets prepare to knock him down Di."

He had no idea why he was nervous. None at all.
It didn't make any sense either. How could it? He, Arnav Singh Raizada was nervous about taking a woman on a date. If his friends heard this, they'd be laughing their asses off into oblivion. But no one could really blame them, could they?
After all, nervousness and Arnav didn't really go together.
They were contradictions because it just wasn't true. Well, that changed today. He was being fidgety. He was never fidgety. But as he made his way down the corridor leading to Khushi's apartment, Arnav couldn't help but straighten his tie. Maybe adjust his cuffs a little bit, and since he was at it, why not reset the hair as well-
The door ahead of him swung open in such a strong manner, that he jumped back. In his completely calm demeanor, he'd rung the bell and conveniently forgotten about it.
The woman leaning against the door frame was most certainly not Khushi. He hadn't gone that off the rocker-yet. He smiled at the raven haired woman, and began to introduce himself.
"Hi, I'm Arnav-"
"-Singh Raizada. CEO of AR nad my Di's date for the evening. Right?"
He would have graced that with a soft laugh, but an abrupt shuffling behind the woman disturbed him. Arnav heard random whispers flying about as his receiver turned back and said something in return. He stood there quietly, waiting for the silent conversation to end.
He didn't have to wait long.
The raven haired woman put her hand forward and smiled widely. She introduced herself as Shaina Malhotra, his assistant's roommate for the past six years. Arnav nodded at the information, and then proceeded to walk inside.
Funny how he stopped only after a few steps.
His assistant, or rather his date for tonight, looked absolutely decadent in an amber saree. The cloth wrapped elegantly around her slender frame, the color highlighting the paleness of her complexion.
Her aanchal covered her front quite modestly, but exposed the nipped-in waist for all eyes to admire. A collared blouse sat high upon her bust, and the black bordered neck plunged in slight vee. It showcased the tempting upper swells of her breasts, playing hide and seek with his hungry eyes.
She walked forward with the grace he'd come to familiarize only with her, a soft smile lingering upon her pale lips. That gorgeous hair was let loose, a feat he was thankful for, and it flowed down her back in rippling waves.
His assistant looked absolutely breathtaking.
Literally.
Arnav realized about ten seconds later that had been holding his breath. Not Mr. Always So Cool anymore, was he? He was anxious like a teenager on his first date. Jesus, where was the suave Arnav Singh Raizada women killed for?
Clearly not here.
Composing himself in that manner which was not unusual to most professionals, he grinned and offered his hand. To his surprise, she laughed lightly before slipping her dainty one within his own.
The soft, but determined sound of a throat being cleared could be heard from all the way across the room. The duo dropped their hands, but kept them entwined as they turned to look at the young woman currently enjoying a chuckle.
"Can I trust you to bring her back by twelve Mr. Raizada?"
Shaina enquired in an extremely professional tone, her stance a stark contradiction to her apparent bubbly character. Arnav's mouth stretched into a wide smile as he understood the intent. He nodded in a mock serious manner, and then gestured for Khushi to leave before him. She shot him a dazzling smile and then proceeded to exit the apartment.
Arnav lingered for a few seconds after his date left, and then turned towards Shaina.
With a rakish grin decorating his handsome mouth, he stepped towards the petite beauty and ruffled her hair. He didn't know why, but Shaina Malhotra was absolutely adorable. Like the younger sister he'd never had. He smiled at that thought and winked at her.
"Make that one, not twelve Shaina"
And with the impenetrable Raizada charm still in place, Arnav shut the door gently behind him.
