Arnav closed the file, shut down the laptop and lay down in bed and closed his eyes. He needed a good night's sleep after the crazy day he had had today. The tycoon switched off, but the man, Arnaav remained awake.
Sleep evaded him and the contents of the report kept appearing before his eyes.
Orphan. Parents deceased. Killed.
Frustrated, he threw the bed covers off and got out of bed. Running his hands through his short black hair, he paced the length of his bedroom. 'Well it's your own fault; you wanted personal information about her. And now you have it,' quipped the devil. 'I keep telling you to keep it professional, but nooo... why should you listen to me!'
His gaze was distracted by the hard copy of the report sitting on his printer. He picked it up and flipped it open to the attached pictures of Khushi Kumari Gupta. She was smiling. The fact that she was always smiling and cheerful irritated him and he had often thought that only the people who have perfect lives smiled like this. But now as he looked at the photographs studying her expression, Arnav realised that the smile didn't reach her eyes. There was sadness.
It was the same sadness in his eyes.
Orphan. Parents deceased. Killed.
Orphan. Parents deceased. Killed.
Orphan. Parents deceased. Killed.
The text kept flashing across his mind.
Arnav groaned in frustration as the memories he kept repressed came flooding back.
The screams. The Blood. The fire of the funeral pyre.
He shook his head in an attempt to clear away the torturous memories. It didn't work.
Arnav decided a swim might help. He changed into his black swimming trunks and walked towards the pool outside his bedroom. His muscular figure barely caused a splash as he sliced through the water. Right arm, left arm...the cyclic movement helped relieve his stress and calmed his mind. After swimming for 60 minutes, Arnav leveraged himself out of the pool and walked to the shower.
It was after 3:00am when sleep finally graced him with her much needed presence.
Meanwhile on the other side of town, Khushi was wide awake too. Had RR-ji seen her business plan? Was it any good? Devi Maiya please please let it be good. She HAD to establish Jaleebi Junction here in Delhi and make it a successful for babuji. Her eyes welled up as she remembered him as a healthy man, now a pale shadow of his formerly self.
She had to make this work.
SO...how was it?
