Ohk guys… I know you must've forgotten what this story was about… I haven't updated in ages… but I always thought it was a 4 shot story, and while going through my Arhi folder I realized I had written only 3 and didn't take it to the ending I originally planned… Ashar had to assure his sister that he was with her… obviously because these two are Arhi's children… you cannot expect it to happen that easily…
I'll recap the story for you guys…
Arnav returned home with his two kids bringing in the news that Ashar had beaten someone from Asmara's class. Khushi is flabbergasted because of his son being involved in fights that too, because someone asked her daughter out for coffee. Asmara is upset because her over protective elder brother embarrassed her in front of her entire class. To top all that she finds out that it was on her dad's orders (well, kind of). She goes into her room.
Arnav goes to convince his princess that he didn't ask Ashar to spy as such. They both have their father – daughter moment which is interrupted by the other two members of the family. And that's when Arnav confesses that he had meant it literally when he had told his three year old son that he was needed to beat the shit out of all those people who dared mess with his daughter.
Khushi and Arnav start arguing where Arnav lays his Salmaan Khan card. The kids intervene to stop the ongoing bickering when Khushi rules out any possibility of Asmara dating before she ended college. Arnav got his wife's point. Asmara was too innocent. Ashar's brain starts churning because he thought that was being unfair to his kid sister.
Ab aage… (sorry for the stupid title… aur kuch sujh nahi raha tha…)
EVERYONE GOT AT LEAST ONE PIECE OF CAKE
"Mumma! That is being totally unfair!" Asmara cried out outraged.
"No Asmara, your mother has a point. You are too young." Arnav answered on his wife's behalf.
Asmara and Ashar were amazed. Their dad was usually cool with anything as long as they took care of themselves.
"Dad?!" Asmara exclaimed in partially shocked partially pleading tone.
"See Sweetie-"
"Wow! That's something coming from two people who had love marriage!" Asmara retorted.
"Asmara Singh Raizada." Khushi started turning her full name into a warning. "We didn't started dating at the age of fifteen!"
"Mom, I'm not interested in your humare Zamane mein crap… this is unfair! Its not that we are going to elope… coffee, maybe movie… that it! And nobody said anything to bhai when he dated at the same age"
Every head turned towards Ashar.
"What?" he asked nonchalantly and then turned to glare at his big mouth sister, who sat straight looking where this would go. They couldn't stop Ashar from doing anything he wishes; and that means they couldn't stop her. Little did she know that he was planning to get her out of this situation, and there she was making his life difficult.
"You started dating at fifteen?" Arnav asked.
Ashar shrugged casually.
"Are you still commited?" Khushi asked.
Ashar huffed shooting Asmara another look – a look-where-you've-landed-both-of us look, and Asmara instantly felt stupid. She should've trusted her brother knowing he would have found some way out. Why did she have to go on her mom and blurt out everything without using her brain to mouth filter???
"Yes." He answered.
"Why don't I know?" Arnav asked broodingly folding his hands across his chest.
"Oh my fault Dad! Should've told you so that it would have become a family secret and mom would have created this no dating until college ends rule back then!" Ashar answered sarcastically.
"Should've probably done that!" Khushi retorted.
"By the way, one girl for so long-"
"No Dad! She's my second-"
"Third…" Armara corrected. "You are forgetting the one you made in 10th grade… you always keep forgetting her…"
"Well, I'd rather… I'm so glad her dad was transferred… she was too much!" Ashar replied.
Asmara chuckled. She was too much.
"You are on your third girlfriend when you haven't even passed school???" Khushi asked shocked. "See," she added to Arnav. "Your son's become a player! All because of your leniency. Aur sar pe chada lo!"
"are waah! Ab mera raja beta becomes your son?" Arnav retorted.
"The point is-" Ashar interrupted. He needed to end this soon before Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada started interrogating him for good. "-that you people are being unfair. Everyone dates these days. It is not a big deal. Give her some space. It's not that Asmara is eloping and getting your "naak" cut."
Asmara shot Ashar a grateful look.
"But she is too young.-" Arnav said in a final tone.
"As young as bhai was!" Asmara retorted. "Are you saying its because I'm a girl? I thought better of you dad." Of course Asmar knew that his dad had loved her as much as if not more than Ashar; but emotional blackmail was a tried and tested weapon.
"but you are too innocent sweetie…"
"Dad, don't you trust me? I'll be looking out for her all the time." Ashar assured his dad.
Asmara wasn't happy with all this looking out business, but that was least of her problems now.
"And landing yourself up in fights!" Khushi added with an underlying no!
"No mom, I won't. I promise. Give the girl a break!" Ashar petitioned.
Arnav and Khushi didn't look too convinced.
"She is too innocent" Arnav said.
Ashar chuckled. "Innocent? Yeah right!" he scoffed. "Have you read novels she reads?" he asked his eyebrows raised. Asmara shot him a what-are-you-doing-you-idiot look. If this lead to the books she read being passed by the censure board aka her parents she'll kill Ashar. She loved reading. Khushi cocked her head to one side and asked "what books?"
"Mom, even Cinderella ended with the prince kissing his princess!" Ashar answered in the way of explanation.
"Hey Devi Maiyya! Why is the world set on corrupting my poor children?!" Khushi exclaimed leading to the rolling of three pairs of eyes.
"Because that how the world is… and that's how we should be… Aware…" Ahar layed another card.
"See, I'll know the guy… and if he's a nuisance I won't let Asmara go… can you let me handle this??" Ashar asked.
Arnav looked at Khushi resignedly. Asmara saw some hope.
"Don't fall for your kids' tricks Arnav!" Khushi told him.
"See, we should give them their space." Arnav said. "And if Ashar will keep an eye on Asmara, then I have no worries. He is good at being the elder brother."
"Who himself is a kid." Khushi added as her response.
"Mom! We are no longer kids! I turn 18 in two months… I'll legally be an adult!" Ashar said.
"Okay… then you can take the responsibility of your sister after two months. That's your birthday gift. Forget your new car!" Khushi tried to bribe her son.
"Mom! Now you are being unfair to bhai!" Asmara exclaimed.
"Seriously Khushi… what has Ashar done to get his gift cancelled?" Arnav asked.
"He got himself into this fight…"
"Mom!" Ashar exclaimed. Arnav shook his head to silence him. And Ashar got the message. He knew his dad well. He would get his car.
"Fine. But then you'll allow Asmara to go out with guys?" Ashar asked.
"That's your punishment, not some deal you are cracking!" Khushi exclaimed.
"But you said you'll gift bhai my responsibility!" Asmara said.
"How do I make sure he'll be looking out for you and at the same time wouldn't indulge in any more fights?" Khushi asked.
"That's a chance you can take Khushi. I trust your Raja beta… you should too…" Arnav told Khushi. She huffed and it was understood that she had given in. "But Ashar, take it seriously!" Arnav said in a warning tone.
"Of course Dad!" Ashar replied.
"But this starts after your birthday!" Khushi added.
"Mom!" Ashar cried out exasperatedly. "It's not like I'll mature over night."
"No! Nothing doing until then."
Arnav looked at Khushi with raised eyebrows demanding what she was upto.
"Just protecting our daughter till I can!" Khushi answered not too happily.
Asmara was about to retort when Ashar's look cut her. Take it quietly, it said.
"Okay fine mom! I think Asmi can handle two months…"
"Great! Then I think it's settled! Can we now go and have our lunch?" Arnav asked.
"We always have lunch with Anser and Aashi*" Asmara said.
"You guys freshen up, I'll set the table. By that time Anser and Aashi will be back too."
Everyone nodded and took off from Asmara's room while she went to her wardrobe.
Arnav put one arm around Ashar's shoulder and said playfully "Lets go for pool tonight…" Pool nights were their get aways when the two wanted to have some father son talks.
Ashar smiled. "Sure Dad! But if I talk about my girlfriends, I won't spare you as well!" he replied playfully.
------------------------------------
"It's open!" Ashar called out hearing a knock on his door.
"Hey Bhai!" Asmara came in to find his brother killing people on his Play station.
"Hey kid! You know I should be mad at you. You grilled me out without preamble." He said his eyes still on the game.
"Are you?" she asked.
"Nope! It's because of you I have another pool night with Dad and he's going to disclose about his Gfs prior to marriage with mom" he said looking at her just as he killed the last terrorist on his game.
"You've got to tell me!" Asmara said taking a seat on the bean bag chair beside his.
"Sure… if you keep that big mouth of yours shut this time." Ashar remarked teasingly.
"I'm sorry na… I was upset."
"You are too much like mom! Don't become melodramatic like her when you grow up or no one will date you." He said winking at her.
"Oh Dad loves mom!" Asmara stated.
"Of course! She is beautiful and talks sense when she is not set on naming children Aloo Kumar and Poori Kumari. Imagine those as our names!" Ashar said shuddering at the thought.
Asmara chuckled. "Dad would've died before letting that happen!"
"Thank God for that!" Ashar replied and chuckled as well. "Wanna play?" he asked.
"Sure…"
They both played 6 games aginst each other four of which Ashar won when Asmara said, "need to go and finish three assignments… I'll get back at you later."
"Any time Kid! I'll be waiting for that day! Hopefully it will happen this life!" She scowled at the tease.
"Thanks bhai! Don't worry I'll petition for your car with Dad!" she said standing up.
"Oh its okay. And you can pay back some other way. I think Dad will get me a car anyways."
Asmara returned a confused look.
"Mom said I won't get car as my birthday gift… that doesn't mean I won't get it… I think Dad will get it for me next day or something… that's what I would've done!"
"ooohh… you people are shrewd!" Ashar shrugged nonchalantly.
"By the way, if you weren't being over protective and you are fine with me dating… why did you beat Shaantanu?" she asked curious.
"Not the guy for you Asmi…" Asmara frowned.
"He's in the basketball team… I've seen him on practices… he's drinks everyday at six in the morning and he smokes too… I remember you telling me, you don't mind boozing but you are against an alcoholic and you hate people who smoke… your way of warning me not to indulge in these activities… if I remember correctly?" he reminded her amused.
"Oh."
"Yes oh. Who said only elder brothers are protective… younger sisters are no less!" he remarked.
Asmara smiled. "Just returning your favours bhai! See you later! And yeah! You should do your homework too if you'll be out tonight!" she said walking out of the door.
"Sure mommy junior!" Ashar called out smiling. And he quickly got to his work. Listening to his sister saved him from academic trouble at school. So, he usually did.
There you go! This was the last part! How did you like it???? I know, it was more serious than the rest but I think some serious moments were necessary… what do you think??? LIKES and COMMENTS guys…
