OS : When The Axis Stops...
As he tred upstairs, he walked into Nani...
"Chote, Anjali bitiya asked to see you..."
His eyes instantly darted to where he left Khushi...
"Nani...tell Di that I'll be there in..."
"No Chote. She said it was important. Everyone else is already inside..."
His heart picked up..."Everyone?"
Nani nodded...
As Arnav walked in, he saw them all standing around her bed...
Akash, Payal, Nk, Mami, Nani, himself...and finally Khushi...
She stood tall, hands by her side.
Her expression showed concern for his sister...
Stabbing pains of regret shot through his soul...
"Why did I say that to her...? Why am I so quick to judge her!"
"Chote, everyone..." Anjali's voice was quiet..."I have been blinded by pain...I have sought forgiveness from my God, and from my baby...now I am seeing your forgiveness..."
Arnav stepped forward and sat beside her..."Di...I'm so sorry that this has happened..."
"Chote..." she lifted her hand to silence him...
Her gaze wandered to Khushi...
Arnav saw the two most important women in his life lock eyes...
Khushi's gaze was calm and concerned...
"Khushiji...thankyou for coming to see me this morning...all this time, I have been thinking of...of...Shyamji...and what you said brought my baby back into my focus..." tears began to flow freely over her cheeks...
"Di, I am so sorry...I was told not to come near you...and I made a huge mistake...I'm..."
"No Khushiji!!" Anjali screamed..."YOU were in no way responsible for HOW I acted! You were concerned for me! You were concerned for my baby! I know how much you must be hurting as well..."
Khushi moved closer, Arnav's gaze was hypnotized...
"Di...I am sorry for causing all this pain...I am sorry for bringing this trauma into this family..."
Anjali tried to talk over her..."No no Khushiji..." but Khushi only continued...
"I am sorry..." her eyes were now on Arnav..."I am sorry that you had to meet me...I am sorry..."
She turned and ran from the room...
With no more care for anyone else other than Khushi, Arnav bolted after her...
When he entered their room, he saw her standing by the pool...
"Khushi..." he approached her slowly...
"I am leaving Arnavji..." her whisper carried over to him
No.
"Khushi, forgive me...I should never have said..."
She turned to face him..."Yes...you should have...and now...everything will be ok..."
He moved closer but Khushi stepped back..."No Khushi...without you...I can't...No Khushi I can't let you leave..."
Her tortured eyes met his..."It's out of our hands now..."
She looked to the sky, and her heart stopped...
Arnav's eyes bled with terror as he saw Khushi fall to the ground...
"KHUSHI!"
He lifted her in his arms and carried her to their bed...
Again his memories haunted him...
Her hands lay limp at her sides...
Holding her face in his hands he screamed..."Wake up! Khushi! NO!"
He held his fingers to her pulse...
Nothing.
The family were now congregating into his room but his focus remained on his wife...
"Khushi...Khushi I didn't mean a thing I said...Khushi! Wake up! BREATHE DAMN IT!!! Khushi!"
Payal rushed forwards and grabbed Khushi's other hand..."Khushi! Khushi! Open your eyes!"
"Chote! Chote what happened!?" Nani cried out...
"Akash call for the doctor, and ambulance, ANYTHING BUT CALL NOW!" Arnav roared his order to Akash without taking his eyes off Khushi...
"Chote..." Anjali's broken voice was now wafting over to him...
But this time...he ignored it...
"Anjali, come...please..." Nani and Mami took her away and back into her room...
"Khushi..." Payal was now crying hard..."Khushi..."
She looked up to Arnav..."What happened Arnavji! Why is she like this!?"
He heard nothing...only the beat of his heart...
Holding her hand over his heart, he prayed that once more, once more she would breathe...
"Khushi...Khushi..." his voice barely recognizable, he choked on emotions..."Khushi...I love you! BREATHE!!! START BREATHING!!!"
Akash burst back in with a team of paramedics...
Arnav held Khushi's hand tightly to his chest..."Khushi...You can't do this...Khushi!"
The team leader pushed through and instantly pulled out a large electo pad...
"Mr. Raizada...let go of her hand..."
His eyes were going in for the kill..."NO!"
"We have to try and restart her heart! BACK AWAY!"
Arnav forcefully pushed her hand harder against him...
"Bhai...Move back..." Akash tried to pull at him...
"Don't touch me..." he leaned in close..."Khushi...Khushi wake up..."
Before he could say anymore, Akash, and two other paramedics were pulling a fuming Arnav away from his wife...
"NO! NO!!! Get your hands off me!!!" Arnav was now volotile...
"Khushi!" Payal screamed..."Wake up please!!"
One, Two, Three...CLEAR!
A loud zap was heard as electricity pulsed throughout Khushi's lifeless body...
"No response...turn up to try again..."
Arnav was consumed with terror...
One, Two, Three...CLEAR!
"No response...Her heart is not responding..."
And then it hit him...
Her heart had finally given up...
Does her pulse begin again? That's up to you...
