Chapter (12) Twelve

Goa.

Raj sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Jaan, you know I can't do that." he said turning to look at the upset woman standing by the window.

She turned to him and glared. "You promised me Raj! You said you were going to stop all this!"

Raj moved towards her and put his arm around her in an attempt to calm her down. Shrugging him off, she continued. "But you lied! Why am I surprised?! Let me guess, you lied about wanting to marry me too?"

"Come on Sonali. You know that's not true." he said reaching for her again but she just huffed and turned away from him.

"Sona." he called to her, only for her to ignore him again. He went and sat beside her. Holding her hand, he turned her to face him. "I promised you this would all be over soon. And I meant it."

"Why can't you end it all now?" she pleaded. Raj paused momentarily, not knowing how to answer. He would do anything for Sonali, and he intended to keep his promise to her. But he still had some unfinished business to take care of before he did what she asked.

"Soon." he promised her, kissing her forehead.

Dehli.

"Are you completely delusional?" Sameer glared at Sweety.

She simply shrugged. "I think the word determined is more suitable." she said, making him shake his head at her and down the rest of his drink. "And don't be acting so saintly. If you had an ounce of good in you, you wouldn't be here in the first place."

Sameer fought the urge to pull his gun out of his pocket and shoot her on the spot. He had never met anyone as vicious and conniving as Sweety Modi in his life, and he knew some pretty twisted people. But she had asked him to join her for dinner, stating she had a fool-proof plan to help him with Anjali, and he couldn't bring himself to say no. He loved Anjali, and he'd be damned if he lost her to Ranveer.

"I'm not saying you have to kidnap her !" Sweety said to him, frustration evident in her voice. She looked at Sameer closely. He was definitely good looking. He could get any girl he wanted. She just didn't understand why he wanted Anjali. What was so special about her? Sweety had hated Anjali and Preeti from the moment she laid eyes on them. And that hatred only grew as they got older. Everything she did was always overshadowed by the two of them. Preeti even managed to get Kunal to fall in love with her. The same Kunal who had a new girlfriend weekly, had fallen in love with Preeti Sharma. But that hadn't lasted very long, thanks to her of course.

"Just take her somewhere you can be alone. Do the whole romantic filmy thing. You'll see how fast she falls. And just leave the rest to me." She said.

Sameer snorted. "Yeah. That'll go so well with Raj."

"You afraid of Raj?" Sweety mocked him.

Sameer glanced sharply at her. "Of course not."

"Well then. You know what to do." she smiled.

Ranveer angrily threw the papers on to the table. He and Arjun had been going through the file Sehgal had sent for hours. But it was completely useless. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just a few basic contracts. All legal.

"Well, that was a complete waste of time." he said dryly.

Arjun looked up from the file he was reading. "You're telling me. Hundreds of papers. All garbage." He sighed.

"Hold up. I found something good." He said with a smirk. "Its a prenuptial agreement." He elaborated when he saw Ranveer's questioning gaze.

"That helps us how?" Ranveer asked him irritably.

"Don't you want to know what you saved Anjali from?" Arjun asked him, flipping through the contract.

Letting his curiosity get the better of him, he leaned over to look. "What does it say?"

This Prenuptial Agreement is made between RICKY SEHGAL and ANJALI SHARMA who are contemplating marriage each to the other;

In the event of a separation, the entire properties of both parties will be transferred to RICKY SEHGAL apart from 10% which will be left in the name of ANJALI SHARMA. Properties include - any jointly acquired or jointly held , regardless of the initial or ongoing proportion of each party.

The parties further acknowledge that in the event of a separation, any rights and obligations relating to the children of the parties,will belong to ANJALI SHARMA. RICKY SEHGAL will forgo all rights towards any children.

"What kind of idiocy is this?" Ranveer ground out.

"Do they really think Anjali is stupid enough to sign this?" Arjun asked angrily. "Look, there's another one." he said holding up another file. "For Preeti Sharma and Tommy Sehgal. As if that's gonna happen." He scoffed.

"As if what's gonna happen?" they heard Preeti ask.

Quickly shuffling the files, Arjun and Ranveer turned to the door where they saw Preeti and Anjali watching them.

"Is it necessary for you to know everything?" Arjun asked her.

"If it's making you seem like a criminal, then yes, I do need to know." She retorted.

Anjali spoke up before Arjun could fire back a response. "We just wanted ask if you 2 were still going with us to the wedding."

"Or you could just stay home." Preeti said to Arjun. "But then don't say we weren't good hosts and left you all by yourselves!"

"Of course not Madamjee. How could we ever say something like that." Arjun replied. Turning back to Anjali, he smiled. "I'm in. Not like we have anything else to do. Right Ranveer?"

"Sure." Ranveer answered with a forced smile.

After the girls left, Ranveer turned to Arjun with a frown. "What is it you're trying to do?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Arjun said innocently.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about. The whole match-maker act needs to stop." Ranveer said, picking up the files again.

"Why?" Arjun asked, suddenly angry. "You're saying you have no feelings whatsoever for Anjali? You're just gonna leave here and never look back when this mission is over?" When Ranveer stayed silent he continued. "You think she'll hate you when she finds out who you really are? What do you think she'll do when you leave?"

"The same thing Preeti will when she finds out!" Ranveer replied, equally angry.

"That's different!" Arjun said.

"You can fool everyone else but you can't fool me." Ranveer said to him.

After a beat of silence Arjun spoke. "Maybe they'll understand."

"Let's hope so." Ranveer sighed.

"Why.Won't. This. Fricken. Zip. Move!" Preeti shrieked, trying to zip up the back of her light blue lehenga blouse.

"Maybe you should lay off the chocolate." Arjun smirked waltzing into her room already dressed in his black suit.

"Didn't anyone teach you to knock before you enter a girl's room?" she asked him.

"Girl? Where? I don't see one." He mocked her, before lying back on her bed.

"Ha-ha. That was hilarious." She deadpanned, turning back to the mirror.

After struggling for another 5 minutes, she turned to glare at Arjun. "You're enjoying this aren't you?"

Still not moving from his spot on the bed, he grinned. "Very much, thank you."

"Arjun! Help me!" she pouted.

"Say please..."

"Fine, be like that." She huffed and turned around.

Arjun smiled and got up. 'So stubborn.'

Preeti gasped when she felt Arjun's warm hand on her waist.

He easily zipped up the back of her blouse, carefully watching her expression in the mirror. Smirking when he saw her face redden, he leaned close to her ear. "Nice to know I have that effect on you."

Ignoring him, she shoved him away, and started putting on her jewellery.

Arjun laughed and moved back, holding his hands up. "I'll wait downstairs."

"Arjun?" he heard Preeti call, stopping him.

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

"Anytime." He winked at her.

Anjali heaved a frustrated sigh. She had tried to cover up the mark on her neck with make-up, which didn't work. And she couldn't find a way to cover it with her dupatta without it looking stupid.

Ranveer laughed behind her and she narrowed her eyes at him. "It's all your fault, you know."

"Is it now?" he asked, encircling his arms around her waist.

"Ranveer, what was wrong with you earlier?" she asked him.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean something was bothering you. You and Arjun were arguing before me and Preeti walked in." she said seriously.

Ranveer tensed. 'What if she heard what they were saying?... No she couldn't have. She wouldn't be so calm if she had.' He cleared his throat. "Don't worry about it Anjali. It was nothing important." he told her.

When she didn't look convinced, he forced a reassuring smile on his face. "Honest. Everything is fine."

"If you say so." she said.

"Is Sameer going to be there?" He asked, the annoyance apparent in his voice.

"Kyun? Jealous?" Anjali teased.

"Yeah, right." he scoffed.

She laughed and walked towards the door, when she felt him tug on her dupatta, pulling her back.

"Ranveer!" She squealed. "We're getting late."

Just as there was less than an inch of space between there faces, Anjali jumped back as she heard a bang on the door.

"If you two are done in there, we really have to go!" Preeti called from the other side.

"Yeah. I'm hungry!" Arjun added.

Ranveer groaned. "We need to send these two on a vacation. Far from here."

Anjali laughed and pulled him with her. "Come on. Let's go."

hiii Lizzy! WOOOW. awesome update. 👏👏👏 your story always puts a smile on my face after ive had a shitty day at school. lolz. it was a brilliant chapter. love how your bringing all the characters together now and going more in depth with them as opposed to just leaving them as side characters. 😊 speaking of- loveee the new characters you put. shilpa and iqbal would deffo make a smokin pair 😉 ahahaha i know why you chose shenaz treasurywala for sweety- you were picturing her in ishq vishk when you picked right???? lolz and sameer is hot. i would go for that 😉 and ronit roy and sakshi are really good choices too. and who is this tanya? and ex gf of one of the boys maybe? haha.

moving on to the chapter... loved the lil cute scenes. totally filmy and i luvv filmy! the dupatta scene, the zip scene. personally i would totally not mind if you wanted to rush this story and give us loads of romance. jus sayin 😉 i really need to see these actors back on screen. its like they dissappeared! also i love how you have raj as this grey character, not a out and out villain.

so next is the wedding? cant wait loads of song and dance and by the looks of it- if sam is there loads a drama and fights too! lolz
