PART 4

It was monday morning and time to go to college. Kripa rushed to the bathroom after waking up an hour late. Angad was supposed to pick her up and that was supposed to happen in exactly 10 minutes. She quickly took a shower and hurried to perfect her hair. She was ready. She went to the kitchen and poured some orange juice in a glass and grabbed a bagel. She still had 5 more minutes. After eating her breakfast, kripa sat in front of her computer for a while. Realizing that Angad was already 15 minutes late, Kripa grabbed her phone to call him.

A: hey this is angad and i dont feel like talking rite now. if you really are desperate...leave your message and i'll think about it.

Kripa hung up after listening to the stupid answering machine. She slammed the phone and grabbed her keys and left.

There was a knock on the door but Angad didnt wake up. Soon enough, he felt pain on his arm. He quickly got up and saw Kripa standing there with her calculus book. Angad sat up, rubbing his arm.

A: what the hell? why did you hit me?

K: stupid idiot...tumhare wajah se hum late ho gaye. i had a stupid calculus test today and you are still sleeping?

She hits him again, this time on his head

A: aahh...stupid aaj sunday hai!!!

K: are you kidding me? today is monday my love...wake up!!!

angad glanced at his cell phone.

A: oh ****

K: exactly mr. angad.....get up and get ready....we have exactly 10 minutes to get to class.

A: we? no i dont have a class....my calculus class is in the afternoon woman. now let me sleep

K: ok fine.

Kripa leaves and Angad smiled looking at her leave. Angad knew she would come back in a few seconds...he counted down.

A: 5..4..3..2....1.......aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

He got up and turned to Kripa.

A: idiot...why did you have to throw ice water on me??

K: so that you would wake up. ab jaldi utto aur mujhe college chod do!

A: ok fine whatever...(he pulled her closer and threw his arm around her neck, almost strangling her)

A: but you owe me!!!

Angad let her go and went to get ready.....

After driving at an unimaginable speed, they finally got to college on time. Kripa quickly kissed angad on his cheek and ran to her class. Angad hurried on to his class as well.

It was time for dinner and as usual, Angad was supposed to come over to Kripa's house as it was a tuesday. The tuesdays, thursdays, and fridays meant dinner at Kripa's house and the other days meant dinner at Angad's house. Kripa never knew how to cook but recently angad had taught her a few basics. But today, kripa had taken the time to actually make something reading off a recipe. Kripa set the table and sat on her chair, waiting for Angad....but he didnt come. After sometime, she got worried. She tried calling him but he didnt pick up. She started pacing around the room but finally the phone rang.She ran to get it.

K: hello...angad?

A: kripa? tumhe kaise pata ke mera phone hai?

K: stupid idiot...mein itni der se intezaar kar rahi thi. kaha ho tum?

A: kripa mere paas baat karne ke liye waqt nahi hai....jaldi niche aao mein tumhara car mein intezaar kar raha hu. we need to go somewhere

K: kaha?

A: mein phone par nahi bataa sakta

K: is everything ok angad?

A: jaldi karo kripa...please

K: ok..ill be there in a minute.

Worried to death, Kripa quickly grabbed her jacket and ran downstairs to his car. She got in and he drove off at the fastest speed imaginable.

K: angad kya hua? tum itne....whats wrong?

A: mein...kripa woh....i'll tell you when we get there.

Kripa's nervous behavior was normal as she looked at angad concentrate on his drive. He was never so quiet before. Something about him scared her today. She kept looking at him but he never looked at her. There was no music and he wasnt talking. The silence tortured kripa even more. Finally Angad stopped the car and Kripa glanced outside to see where they were. It was a little lake by the end of the mountain.

K: angad yeh hum kaha aa gaye? its scaring me now.please batao mujhe.....

A:(puts his finger on her lips): ssshhhhh........

Angad got out of the car and opened the door for Kripa. She took his hand and stepped out of the car.She looked around and no one was there. Angad took her hand and they started walking. Kripa was still unsure of what they were doing but her trust in Angad made her follow him. Finally they stopped and Kripa was surprised...she didnt see anything around.

K: angad what the hell are you doing...hum yaha kya kar rahe hain...aur woh bhi iss waqt?

A:sshhh...woh dekho

Kripa looked in the direction that he was pointing in. There was a smile on her face immediately but it vanished faster. Why was Angad doing this? He took her hand again and walked in that direction. As they got closer, the setting was ever clearer. Kripa saw a beautiful table with two chairs and a candle light dinner theme set in front of her. She didnt know what to think. Why were they here in the first place? This seemed like a place taht Angad would take his girlfriends to....then why her?

Angad made her sit on the chair facing the lake. She sat down, still confused. Angad sat in front of her. He put his hands into hers and looked at her, almost seductively.

A: kripa mein...

K: angad please. dont torture me anymore. please batao hum yaha kya kar rahe hain?

A: kripa maine kabhi yeh nahi socha tha ke mere saath aise hoga. i mean...mujhe bhi kabhi kisike saath pyaar ho jayega...maine socha nahi tha....

K: what? tumhe pyaar ho gaye hai?

A: ha kripa. mujhe pyaar ho gaya hai. ek aisi ladki ke saath jisse maine kabhi uss nazar se dekha hi nahi tha....aaj mujhe yeh ehsaas hua ke woh itne dino se mere saamne thi aur mein...apne sache pyaar ki talash mein tha. kaash mujhe yeh pehle hi pata chalta...ki woh ehsaas jo mere dil mein itne saalo se hain...wohi pyaar hai

K: yeh sab kya keh rahe ho tum...meri to kuch samajh mein nahi aa raha.

Angad snaps his fingers and the music starts.

Pehla Nasha, pehle kumar

Naya pyaar hai, naya intezaar,

keh do mein kya apna haal?

Aye dil-e bekaraa...tu hi bata....

Angad took Kripa's hands and made her get up. He put his arm around her waist and started to move smoothly. Kripa, still confused, just looked into his eyes. Today there was something different in his eyes....something she had never seen before...this was hard to understand...

A:Kripa...maine hamesha tumhare saath apne saare sukh aur dukh bate hain....aur aaj bhi mein tumhe kuch aisi baat batane jaa raha hu jo shayad tumhare liye sunna mushkil ho lekin yahi sachai hai..

K: angad yeh tum kya keh rahe ho...please sab kuch saaf saaf keh do na...mujhe darr lag raha hai.

Angad goes closer to her and holds her tighter. Kripa feels a little uncomfortable and looks away...noticing his eyes scan her face, she looks at him again

K: angad please...youre hurting me

A: I dont want to kripa. i cant hurt you...because...because I love you.

Kripa looks at him with a shock expression. She lets go of him and moves back. Angad looks at her with tears in his eyes. She continues to move back, staring at his face. After she reached a safe distance of 6 feet, she stopped. She looked into his eyes and.....started to laugh. Angad looked at her with a shocked expression of hurt and then gave up and laughed too. He extended his arms and she ran to him and hugged him.

A: kripa..tum bhi na. i cant even joke with you....you always know when im lying.

K: hahaha....you're lying? so you dont love me?

A: ofcourse I love you....(Angad goes close to her and pretends that he is going to kiss her. Kripa laughs again and pushes him and hits his arm gently)

A: haha....Kripa, tum bhi na!

They sit on the chairs and pour some champagne into their glasses. They cling glasses and say "cheers". They stare at each other for a few seconds and smile.

K: to angad...whats all this for? anything special?

A: hmm...hai kuch...lekin its a surprise

K: surprise?

A: yes. (takes her hands in his)...kripa...I love you

Kripa starts laughing again and pulls her hand back.

K: shut up angad...ab batao kya baat hai?

A: ok aaj kya date hai?

K: uhh...(looks at her cell phone)...August 7th!

A: yea and...

K: and what?

A: tumhe yaad nahi hai?

K: umm...oh no!

A: kya...yaad aya?

K: ha angad...aaj to Tina ka b'day hai...yaar mein to bhool gayi...oh shoot....ab kya kare?

A: Tina ka b'day? yaha mein....aur tumhe tina ka....you know what forget it!!

K: forget what? angad.....angad?? what the hell? yaar kuch to bolo....i dont understand what youre saying...mujhe kuch samajh mein nahi aa raha...

Angad gets up in anger and walks a little away. Then he looks back with a hurt expression, right into kripa's eyes.

A: tum kuch nahi samajhti kripa...kabhi kuch nahi samajhti!!

Angad just left. Kripa looked away and sighed. They didnt talk on the whole drive home. When he parked his car in front of her house. She looks outside and then at Angad. Before she can say anything, he speaks.

A: bye kripa.

K: angad...andar nahi aaoge kya?

A: nahi mujhe kuch kaam hai

K: please...mere liye?

A: -------------

K: come on please....i'll make you some coffee...

A: kripa please....

K: angad i insist.

Angad started his car, but only to park it properly. They both got out and climbed up the stairs to her first floor apartment. Before they got to the door, Kripa stopped Angad.

K: oh angad...shayad mein apna jacket tumhari car mein bhool gayi...tum mujhe apni keys de do...aur..uh..yeh lo...take my keys and wait for me inside. ok?

Angad just nodded his head and they exchanged keys. Kripa left to get her jacket. Angad walked a little more and he finally got to Kripa's door. He looked at the key for a moment and then opened the door. As usual, the lights were off. Angad walked in through the door and turned the lights on and........

A: Oh my god!!!

All he saw was decorations all over the room. There were balloons on the walls and colors all over. In the middle of the room was a chocalate cake that said "happpy anniversary". He knew that Kripa must have put in a lot of effort to make it. A smile crept on his face. He looked around and then finally looked at the door when he heard Kripa's footsteps.

A:(smiled) kripa.....

Kripa smiled back at him....

A: tumhe yaad tha?

K: ofcourse you idiot...mein kaise bhool sakti hu??? aaj humara 12th anniversary hai....12TH!!!! i cant forget that...

Angad ran to her and hugged her tightly.

A: i am so sorry kripa. maine tumhe galat samjha. mujhe to laga tha ke.....

K: ke mein humari iss dosti ki anniversary bhool gayi...right?

A: ha...im sorry. mujhe aise....

K(puts her hand on his lips): mein tumhari koi bhi baat kabhi nahi bhula sakti angad. tum meri zindagi mein kya mayine rakte ho...yeh shayad koi bhi kabhi nahi samajh sakta. i love you mr. angad khanna...i love you more than myself....and no one in this world can ever understand what that love is...not even you.....I love you!!

Kripa hugs him tightly and he hugs her back. There are smiles on their lips and tears in their eyes...tears of joy. No matter what happened to the world, they knew that the only person in this world that they could call their own was each other...NO ONE ELSE was more important than they were to each other. This was the relationship between Angad and Kripa....not of Love and not of Friendship....but something that no one would ever understand...no one knew how they felt for each other...not even them...it was just different! They were different!!!! They were Angad and Kripa...made for each other...they just didnt know it yet!
